Arab Governments Reportedly Not Happy About Kerry's Recent Comments on Syria
Secretary of state complimented Syria for its cooperation for beginning process of destroying its chemical weapons
The Arab media reports that some Arab governments are irate about US Secretary of State John Kerry's recent compliment of Syria for beginning the process of destroying the country's chemical weapons. Kerry said on Monday that he was "very pleased" with the news that experts had begun the process of dismantling Syria's chemical weapons.
Sunni Arab states, particularly from the Gulf, were already upset with US President Barack Obama's decision not to enforce his own red line and attack Syria. Instead, the US agreed to a deal brokered by Russia after a deadly August 21 chemical weapons attack in the suburbs of Damascus, which prompted US threats of air strikes against the Syrian government.
