Archaeologists Find Aphrodite's Head in Southern Turkey
Statue fragment found while uncovering ancient poolside mosaic
A group of archaeologists has discovered a life-sized marble head of Aphrodite while uncovering an ancient pool-side mosaic in southern Turkey.
Buried under soil for hundreds of years, the goddess of love and beauty has some chipping on her nose and face. Researchers think her presence could shed light on the extent of the Roman Empire's wide cultural influence at the time of its peak.

Right next to the arc.
That item could have inspired a much better Indiana Jones movie than the stupid alien skull. But who in Dr. Jones's lifetime would be the appropriate enemies of the Aphrodite sculpture, as the Nazis are the obvious enemies of the Ark of the Covenant? Communists? Feminists? Pornographers? Christian fundamentalists? Muslim fundamentalists? Objectivists? All of the above? The more I think, the more I wonder.
Fanboys and fangirls, come to my aid. Please help me write this fanfic.
Indiana Jones is sent on a perilous journey to recover the lost head of Aphrodite, who's powers are said to bend any man to the will of the woman who possesses it.
This makes it of paramount importance to Amanda Marcotte and Lindy West, who plan on leading a crack team of Jezzies to beat Indy to the head and using it to conquer the world for feminism...
Daaaaauuuuuummm still better than the last Indy movie, despite that cast.
No, no, no, you've got it all wrong.
Marcotte et al are the good guys, trying to recover the head so they can defeat the global forces of misogyny and rape, duh!
So what does the back of Aphrodite's head look like? 'Cause that's all what I want to see, bitch.
