Biden Cancels Trip to Florida
Likely connected to possible strikes on Syria
The White House announced on Tuesday that Vice President Biden is postponing a scheduled visit to Florida this week as he helps President Obama round up congressional support for a resolution authorizing the use of military force against Syria.
Biden was due to head to the University of Central Florida on Thursday to give a speech on college affordability. The White House did not give a reason for the postponement, but it comes as administration officials say Obama is attempting to "flood the zone" in his effort to win over skeptical lawmakers on Syria.
But with Obama departing on Tuesday night for a four-day trip to Stockholm and Russia for the G-20 summit, the White House thought it was all the more important that the vice president stick around Washington this week, according to an administration official who was not authorized to comment on the decision so spoke on condition of anonymity.
