Israel Bombs 'Terror Site' in Lebanon in Response to Rocket Attack
First strike on Lebanon since 2006
BEIRUT — Israel said it bombed a "terror site" in Lebanon on Friday in response to a barrage of four rockets launched from across its northern border hours earlier, its first airstrike on the country since its 2006 war with the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.
The target was a base belonging to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine General Command located near the town of Naameh, just 15km south of the capital Beirut, Lebanon's state news agency reported. However, the group denied any involvement in the rocket attack, for which an al-Qaeda-linked organization had already claimed responsibility.
