Responding to recent terror alerts

ROME, Aug. 9 (UPI) — Rome police said they have increased security at the city's diplomatic missions following a heightened global terrorist alert.

Police and bomb squads stepped up patrols, including manhole checks and other street-level activities, and concentrated extra security at the U.S., British and Spanish embassies, among others, the Italian news agency ANSA reported Friday.
