Pat Robertson on Sex-Change Operations: 'I Don't Think There's Any Sin Associated With That'
First the pot thing, now this
Pat Robertson turns out to be fairly progressive on the whole transgender thing. The relevant part of the video starts at 2:29:

All those 2000 pound leg presses have caused a stroke.
Christian shemale weed parties. Sounds downright libertine.
Rick Santorum's nightmare or ultimate fantasy, but probably a fantasy.
I don't know how I would have gone through the day without knowing what Pat Robertson thinks about sex change operations.
You won't have to think about it if they publish the AM Links on time.
Wait, is this the same guy who thinks gays attract hurricanes?
Name all the hurricanes after men, and they'll never make it past the Virgin Islands.
How long have you been waiting to use that one?
But then the Virgin Islands won't be virgin for long.
But...but...that doesn't conform to the stereotype. How will Jezebel write a "humorous" article about this?!
Ha. I didn't even know this, but it looks like they they can't.
That's not going to stop them from making snarky comments though.
They actually have a section of that site entitled "Groupthink?" So they advertise what we consider weakness. Weird.
SOLIDARITY!!!!!!!
Sometimes the mask slips. Sometimes it just ends up in the trash.
So he's finally on the same page as Iranian mullahs. Hooray?
Yeah, except for that whole forced surgery thing. NBD.
Who knows what sexual orifices Pat Robertson would make you install if he could...
I have sudden visions of the Joozians from South Park. Weird how that came to mind.
So it's cool for a man to have sex with another man as long as he submits to surgical genital mutilation first? Seems Pat would be arguing that people are born particular gender and changing that would be going against "God's Plan," or something.
Yeah, it would seem that way if you don't listen to what he said.
God works in mysterious ways to confound the wise.
I'm afraid I have to disagree. There IS a sin involved. It isn't committed by the person undergoing the operation, however. The sinner is the surgeon, or whoever convinced the patient that having surgically damaged genitalia will be better than having functional ones that feel wrong.
Someday, and probably sooner than later, it will be possible to actually change sexes. That will be interesting. In the meantime I have a distaste for vultures who prey on hope.
Not likely, the current methods of surgery and hormone therapy will just get better. There may be some gene therapy but they are going to be able to just cut the Y chromosome out.
Still don't see how it possibly could be a sin to perform consensual surgery.
they are not going to be able to just cut them out.
The surgery for someone to go from male to female is already good enough to the point a doctor doing a cursory examination can't tell the difference, so I would be wary of telling someone they have false about it.
^false hope about it
also - gender is way more than just the X and the Y. I don't mean social construct nonsense, I mean biologically - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C.....d_theories
I'm with you, Schofield has no idea what he is talking about.
"Someday, and probably sooner than later, it will be possible to actually change sexes."
Sweet! I always wanted my own pair of boobs.
