NLRB Confirmation Vote Expected Today
Deal to avoid changes in filibuster rules
The Senate advanced the nomination of a key Obama administration labor board pick on Tuesday morning, moving the upper chamber ever closer to the fruition of a bipartisan deal to avert a historic rules change.
Kent Hirozawa cleared a procedural vote for his nomination to the National Labor Relations Board, 64-34, as a handful of Republicans joined with the Democratic caucus to advance the nomination past a 60-vote threshold. The Senate is expected to confirm Hirozawa, the chief counsel to the NLRB, later today along with four other picks to the board.
