Probably wise
A Kentucky sheriff who was convicted of witness tampering will resign from office effective July 31, the day before his scheduled sentencing in federal court.
Barren County Sheriff Chris Eaton's decision was disclosed in a sentencing memorandum filed by his attorney, the Glasgow Daily Times reported.
Eaton, whose sentencing is set for Aug. 1, has been sheriff of the south-central Kentucky county since 2007.
