I don't know if it's the glasses, the pursed lips, the naked-but-for-boots, or the position she's in, but this picture is incredible every time I see it.
It would look better if Welch was on that horse.
No...no it wouldn't.
It would be better if Kennedy was riding me. That pic is hawt.
Dat azz.
I don't know if it's the glasses, the pursed lips, the naked-but-for-boots, or the position she's in
You forgot the whip!
We discussed this picture the first time it was used. It is photoshopped unless she had her neck surgically removed.
You are just pissed because all libertarian chicks are hot. All you have on your side of the aisle is Rachel Maddow.
It's the boots. Nothing hotter for me than a chick wearing nothing but cowboy boots.
The Golden Age of MTV
You mean when they actually showed music videos, instead of 24/7 reality TV of annoying whining brats and gehs?
So the legends from long ago are true???. MTV actually played music?????
If you could call it that. I'm a bit young for the golden age of MTV I think, plus we couldn't afford more than basic cable till circa-Silf&Olly;.
That show was MY MTVGoldenAge.
(for the record, by that point, they were already shifting away from playing music.)
The golden age of MTV was from the moment they first played "Video Killed the Radio Star" until the moment they first aired non-music content in the form of Remote Control. And it was golden. Watching a TV show and commercials come on? Over to MTV, where all they did was play videos. Bored? Throw on MTV. Need to blow 15 minutes before watching Manimal? Throw on MTV. It was great.
I liked how the big acts kept trying to outdo each other with crazy videos, then you'd have these weird obscurities pop out of nowhere and become stars just because of a cool video. Not that it was all good or didn't do some damage to the music business, but it was a hell of a lot better than the crap it's been since then.
Lot of mist and white horses randomly thrown into videos, as I recall.
Like this?
Epi. After I wrote my message, I started to think of all the misty videos with white horses, and Duran Duran was the first to come to mind.
Like this?
Grandpa, what's film?
I first saw MTV in 1983, at the house of this rich kid I was friends with (his dad was the ex-county exec) and they had it up on their 60" projection TV. It really was like nothing else I had seen before.
A-ha, Take On Me
Guess I coulda linked it.
Sorry, but Bootcamp, from Bal'mer, holds the title for most awesomest video ever on MTV.
Absolutely brutal... That hurts more than Geddy Lee's hair in the 80s
or didn't do some damage to the music business
Creative destruction.
"until the moment they first aired non-music content in the form of Remote Control."
What about Beavis and Butthead?
Beavis and Butthead were awesome, but it was after the golden age.
Maybe a question is, when did MTV peak? And when did the music video peak? Was it at the same time?
I'm tempted to say Money for Nothing is peak video, but I kind of want to include some of GnR's epics.
Better over-the-top parody video: "Panama" or "no sleep till Brooklyn"?
I stopped watchin' when they started Rappin'. And that was right after I graduated in 88. Sweet Child O' Mine was what 89?
Peak? 88.
But 14 years, and civil war...
Although, now that I think more, "sabotage", or even "intergalactic planetary" hit pretty damn high for videos.
Most memorable video of my youth was from dr. Demento, "Fishheads"
"Peak? 88."
What video, though?
Wow, that's a good question.
My favorite video ever was the a-ha I posted above (sorry about the quality, I didn't check it first). Chick was hot. But that was 84.
I hate to admit this given all the Bon Jovi hate this AM, but I liked the Livin on a Prayer video with all the on stage tethers. That wa 86.
Damn there were so many, but I'm having a hard time remembering. I do remember that Phil Collins and Madonna had a stretch there where you had a 50/50 chance of flippin' it on and seeing one of them.
The Whitesnake video, Here I Go Again (87)? But there were a half dozen Hair Band videos that were good.
Got it. Janie's Got a Gun (89).
"Take on me" was a hell of an awesome video. I was a bit deprived on MTV growing up.
Actually the Rush videos, especially red barchetta, terrible as they were, stuck in my head.
Living on a prayer is my goto song for code publishes.
This post made me extremely sad that I wasn't born earlier.
I remember some from, like 1981.

Dave has looked better.
Well he's already had more than his fair share of women.
Eddy isn't looking so good, either these days.
again. does it matter?

Fixed it
In the days before twitter...
They played music until 1989. Then they started playing Rap.
ba doom boom
MTV in other countries still plays videos.
If you have expanded cable, MTV does have sub channels that play videos.
The only time I watched MTV growing up was to watch the Beavis and Butthead spin-off Daria. Other than that it was just reality TV crap that I never interested me.
MTV Germany, instead of Pimp My Ride, had Pimp my Bicycle.
In Germany, I'm surprised they don't have Pimp my Wife, only Pimp in German means 'tie up and pee on'
In Soviet Russia, bicycle pimps YOU!
Kennedy, along with Katherine Mangu-Ward,are total hotties.
d'accord!
From the void betwixt the worlds, Kathrine Mangu-Ward smiles at you, full of serene knowing, that you are a pervert.
Still love "Pop Music" (first video I remember - SO cheesy it was cheesetastic) and that fucking Art of Noise video with the little girl running around with a chainsaw and shit. Excellent stuff.
Wait, Kennedy. I love Kennedy. Like Brooke Shields, she's even hotter now than she was then...tnat's saying something.
irregardless, I'll be in my bunk ...
Last time I saw a naked woman and an equine in the same room, it was in Tijuana.
You mean you don't have stables and servants on your estate? Do you even own a monocle?
He just hasn't been home since his last time in Tijuana.
The lights are on, but your not home

Do you remember the rumor?
One of those chicks was a dude.
Ruined a perfectly good fap video.
I don't think I heard that but it was along time ago.
Did everyone else have a few-year stretch of Halloweens where you'd run across groups of girls dressed and made up like they were in this video?
Them, Boy Toy Madonna and Joan Jett.
Have to admit to some nostalgia for Headbanger's Ball and Liquid Television at times.
YO MTV Raps! with Dr. Dre and Ed Lover.
The Was (Not Was) animated music videos on Liquid TV were awesome.
Weird and awesome that this is the second reference to YO MTV Raps! in the comments section today.
Also, HM, have you seen the video for the newish remix of Busta Rhymes' "Twerk It" and, if so, are you also extremely disappointed by the INSANELY LOW AMOUNT of actual twerking in the video? What gives?!? The song is freaking perfect for twerking!
Absolutely, and Busta's African dictator from the 70's high as fuck on ludes persona is creepy as fuck. My only theory is that Ms. Minaj didn't want to be upstaged by anyone who was more skilled by twerking.
I had to watch this a few times to get over my disappointment.
I can't be the only one to think that twerking is about the un-sexiest thing a woman can do, can I?
The Maxx was awesome, but even today, reading summaries, I still don't know what went on.
Also, Aeon Flux was revelatory to 10 or 12ish me.
Palladia is the best music channel. Tons of concerts, and Live From Darryl's House.
Axs TV is a close second.
I like a lot of the concerts, but... Ell, too much Kings of Leon.
Dude that makes a ll kinds of crazy sense dude. Wow.
