I respond therefore I am.
Congratulations for beating Fisty to the punch.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., wants to the United States to formally sanction any country that offers asylum to NSA leaker Edward Snowden.
Graham, ever tone deaf.
AHAHAHH HHAHAA HAHHHA WOOO HOOOO HEEEE TEE HEEE OOOOO.....
*skips down middle of street pulling off clothes*
I sense a great disruption in the force.
*skips down middle of street pulling off clothes*
Eeewwwww.
Fuck you, Lindsey Graham.
That is all.
Graham, ever tone deaf.
and a cracker to boot!
I want Lindsey Graham to find a bridge and hang himself from it.
But I'll gladly settle for him losing his next election.
I would settle for it, but it wouldn't be the same.
I'm disgusted the man is an American. He speaks like a Soviet Communist and he has the effeminate nature of a Englishman. What the Hell, South Carolina? What the Hell? You're prejudice kicks in when two gay guys want to marry, but it doesn't when you are at the voting booth and a pasty, Nancy who looks like he powders his face like a 17th Century Frenchman is asking for your vote?
Not to mention that a man of his age who has neither married nor sired any progeny, added with the very nature of his orange glow and effeminate speech, is as certainly gay as Liberace in a 70's SF bathhouse. Jebus South Carolina, if you're gonna hate on teh GHEY start by dumping Graham.
Hey, you're right, most photos of him I image searched or orange. Didn't realize this photo was doctored --

Joking, of course, but still wonder where the impression of powdered face and pasty originated.
or are
I get it now, when I see Graham, this guy comes to mind.

HA
I DID IT
and:
Environmentally Friendly bullets are dumb.
did what?
While I applaud you boldly and blindly calling first, a gambit that could have left you humiliated in the eyes of your peers, next try it after reading through and addressing one of the links first.
I said gubmint bad...that applies.
Plus, baby steps.
Note that abject fear drove me to type poorly.
And where is your pertinent relevant remark?
First doesn't count until someone finds your first worthy of a response.
I responded...DON'T OTHER ME!!!
don't other yourself hombre.
Look, we've already got one first responder on the boards. We don't need any more.
first responders are heros sloopy ... HEROS!
Who can't TYPOE well either.
TYPOES!!!
And make sure that any dogs that dare impede their response know that...
Only a true hero would utter these brave words.
First responders are really the second responders, if you think about it. George Zimmerman is the first responder.
In the wake of the embarrassing incident with the fake Asiana crash pilot names, KTVU-TV has fired at least three producers.
KTVU-TV station manager Yu Seo Fuked does not tolerate incompetence.
Racist.
Please direct your complaints to KTVU's legal department head, So Su Mi.
I already used that joke. So I play the violin for you. At least, the violinist Yo Ma Ma does so.
I heard she served in the Reserves.
I see what you did there.
LACIST, Fist,it's L A C I S T
...does not "torelate" incompetence.
FTFY.
Vancouverites mull $6M bike share approval
If it's such a great idea, why couldn't the company find $6 million from voluntary investors?
Public bike share programs: because sometimes, affluent white people need handouts too!
If it's such a great idea, why couldn't the company find $6 million from voluntary investors?
Cause they'd expect a return on their investment?
They could go with Nice Ride, like we have in the Twin Cities. It's a non-profit and it has worked out very, very well here.
https://www.niceridemn.org/
Their Annual Report
From the annual report: The source of funds to deploy the service over 2.5 years includes 9 entities. The largest is a Federal Transportation Program at $2.8M. In 2011 (last full year of report) they received $1.4M in government grants.
Revenue in 2011 was ~$800K
"Disposable helmets"? Doesn't sound very green.
Yeah, the helmets thing is great. BC law requires helmets while riding a bike. Paternalism versus environmentalism, who will win? Who cares, I only know who loses.
I want sanctions on South Carolina if they don't get Graham out of office next year.
I said yesterday that he was close to surpassing Schumer as my most hated Senator. I think they're tied now.
There's some pretty tough competition in the field. You have McConnel, Graham, Schumer, Feinstein... That's just off the top of my head.
What other field are 10% of the employees fucking retards? I don't know the answer, honest question.
McCain is a strong contender as well. But there's something about Graham that absolutely infuriates me.
I think Graham has surpassed McCain as the worst GOP senator. McCain is on the way out (either thru retirement or more permanently), Graham has years left.
Police?
I'll take that as a viable contender.
Can you find 10% of police officers that *aren't* complete fucking retards?
I don't think it's that bad; I just think the bad ones appear a lot more prevalent than the good ones.
In MD we have fucking Mikulski. As much as I hate her, it is sad that she isn't even close to being one of the worst in the senate.
Bless her heart, I've never been able to hate her. She's like everybody's short, pudgy, Polish grandma. And, I'll say this for her, she's not one of these new-fangled Progressives. She's been a dyed-in-the-wool big gubmint Dem since she started. And not from any fancy theories or book learnin'; she got her politics from Frank Capra, by God.
I'd still put Schumer & Reid ahead of Graham in the "worst" stakes.
In the wake of the embarrassing incident with the fake Asiana crash pilot names, KTVU-TV has fired at least three producers.
Sienna Funnypapers, Donna Thedoorhitya and Yuri Tirednow.
What happened to Mike Hunt?
In the storage closet with Hugh G. Rection.
It became so full of shit, people started mistaking it for an asshole?
He. Not it. That would be cis-normative...or some shit.
I thought we were talking about your cunt?
No, she's a bitch
I believe the proper term for those that give Obama ides is "Journolists".
They stopped using that list to cordinate their talking points, I think they now just repeat MSNBC.
They just have a new one and didn't invite Weigal.
It's good to know they've learned from their mistake.
It's shocking that they could learn anything.
If only Snowden had clued us in.
Anyone attending Capitalism and Morality in Vancouver this weekend?
The U.S. Army is introducing environmentally friendly bullets. Maybe they'll start composting the bodies of the people they kill, too.
Plus, you get the Cleveland Browns....
I mentioned a Popular Mechanics article yesterday on the Marines trying to train for a war against well-equipped opponents, and one of the things mentioned in it (the article or elsewhere in the issue, can't remember which) was green energy. Like that's somehow automatically an advantage to warfare.
It might be. If you can make your vehicles more efficient, you don't have to transport as much fuel. That makes a big difference. Also, if you could figure out a way to get mobile power without using diesel generators, you would need less fuel as well.
The problem is that "green energy" is such a loaded term and this administration so outrageously stupid when it comes to the subject, I worry that they will force it at the expense of readiness.
I think in their context, they are looking for things to shorten supply lines and lengthen resupply times. Moving 20% of their electricity from diesel to solar would be a huge win for FOBs.
My point was that it read like it was automatically good, just because it was green. I can see that having the ability to power things without dependence on a grid or supply lines would be a benefit, but I don't remember that aspect of it being stressed.
I can see that. The Armed Services are always fully buzzword compliant even when they are burning $100 bills coated with diesel in open pits as motive power.
Even though I'm not looking to live in some obscure location, the idea of being able to live completely off the grid is enticing. Make my own power, drill my own water, launch my sewage into orbit. Independence.
launch my sewage into orbit.
Two words: Mister. Fusion.
I'm open to alternatives. Especially involving transmutation.
"Your excrement? You're sitting in it. I transmuted it into a recliner."
If you live somewhere cold enough, you can just mash it together and then cut it into the desired shape.
That is assuming solar or wind (the classic "green" energies) can really dependably do any of this. Which, from my research, is complete BS. Both have a capacity factor of at most 30%, so 30% (optimistic) of the time they are producing what they are supposed to and for the other 70% you will need something else.
There is not a solar or wind installation in the world that powers an industrialized nation that is not supplemented by backup power (which provides most of the power the installation is rated for). Germany is finding this out quickly as they return their nuclear plants to service and continue to build coal plants.
The fact the army wants to be involved in any of this blows me away. It seems like a bunch of BS that the brass are agreeing with to move up the ranks because "green" energy is politically favourable right now.
I think it was the Marines, though it smells of politics, so probably not just them.
I can see some possible advantages to some "green" options, like flex-fuel, maybe solar, but as far as that goes, wouldn't portable nuclear reactors be a better answer?
Sorry I meant to say the Military not Army. I have heard that this practice is happening big time in the Navy, which is really astounding since they have the best track record for the use of nuclear reactors to give them the advantage over most countries.
I would take a small portable nuclear reactor into that situation before any fucking solar array. A solar array is so vulnerable and inadequate for consistent power it is amazing it is something on the table. Sure, solar for small things works, but for anything requiring a lot of juice and have that be dependable, I would never use it.
I think they also mentioned some sort of robot generator that walked around with troops. Nothing mentioned about it being green, anyway.
Google SL-1 sometime. It'll be a long time before the Army goes back down that road.
Having been in the Marines I wouldn't be surprized if the interviewer from PopMech just asked some E-8 about green alternatives and the Marine thought to himself "Green alternatives? Hell, everything we have is painted green, or dark earth, or tan." - so the Marine then starts talking about things they have which happen to be painted dark earth or tan...
So the Navy is ditching nuclear power and going back to sails, at least for surface ships?
I have seen a commercial on American Forces Network (overseas cable TV for the military) which shows some supposed scientific breakthrough where they can spray paint a solar panel on a rock for troops on the move (in some hot environs you move at night and rest during the day).
All I could think was "how is carrying a one-shot spray bottle better than just carrying a multi-use solar panel?"
"Like that's somehow automatically an advantage to warfare."
Amateurs talk tactics, professionals talk logistics.
Sure. Where's the automatic logistical advantage to "green" energy? I'm fine with it if it makes sense from a military point of view, reduces costs, or works just as well/costs the same.
There are certainly avenues of energy production that happen to fall in the green category and would be logistical godsends at either the tactical or strategic level. Solar panels at FOBs means not having to truck in diesel to run generators to power your comms gear. Better battery tech opens up anything from electric drive vehicles (less likely) which would be much quieter to just lightening the load of your average grunt, who is carrying around more and more weight in batteries these days. Obviously certain oil substitutes could reduce transport costs, etc.
But it's in the nature of these briefs to boil things down to high-impact bullet points. For all we know all that stuff I talked about is wrapped up in the phrase "green energy," which also happens to sound good to other audiences.
It may well be that. It's not like the FTC is going to come in and bust the military for misleading statements.
Nah, they're just trying to get some Democrats to vote for it too.
Canada's crime rate lowest since 1972
Natch.
The spending is obviously working. Spend harder!
He moved to America.
President Barack Obama says Republicans may not like his ideas, but the journalists he talks to do.
And that's why, besides Valerie Jarrett, they're the only ones he talks to.
You've obviously forgotten the major policy initiatives begun by Sasha and Malia.
No need to invest in that echo chamber after all.
Why do normal men turn sexist when they get in front of a barbecue?
A biologically deterministic blizzard of bullshit sees men as the keepers of the grill and women as mere salad-spinners
...No, the mythology of meat is well marbled with machismo. But, as several thousand years have passed since men had to kill our protein, make a fire, cook it and eat it, why is barbecuing seen as something women don't or can't ? or, more accurately, shouldn't ? do? How ? and why ? do men continue to claim this sacred fire-space as a male-owned sanctuary where women are not permitted?...
...So no, it's time to call time on the blokey barbecue huddle, that sizzling scrum, this grim last resort of acceptable sexism. Women of the world, unite. Burn their aprons, light the flames and cook. And men, drop the Bear Grylls pretensions and make a bloody salad.
Must be the smell of burning napalm in the morning, I guess...
That dude sounds awful at grilling, bet he doesn't even do it. Of course this is British "BBQ" were talking about here.
British BBQ? So they go outside to boil the water?
Sausage mostly.
"""""But, as several thousand years have passed since men had to kill our protein, make a fire, cook it and eat it"""
Several thousand years????. Most homes in the US had open fires just over a 100 years ago and large parts of the world still do.
I guess cows commit suicide nowadays.
Well, yeah, but most slaughterhouse workers are women now, so its now men killing our protein.
People with asthma are dying every day because of barbeques. And amazing how these people can make any position they take seem creepy as hell. Antisocial activity?
All barbecue fires ever combined probably don't match one serious forest fire. Not to mention volcanic eruptions.
One fucking coal plant operating for a day puts out more shit into the atmosphere than all BBQ's in the history of BBQ's have. Fuck the shit people find to bitch about. It blows me away.
Yep, a cherished social practice is actually an antisocial practice. Because of asthmatics sticking their faces over the grills, I guess.
these people survived the london blitz. WTF happened.
Actually, that's exactly what happened. Keep calm and carry on?carry on rationing food for the next 20 years, that is. It's cool, it's normal. See how well they got used to it?
And the Democrats wanted to do the same thing here. They thought war planning was so fucking great, we should just keep on planning.
The US was very fortunate not to go down that road. What the Britons consider normal is truly weird and pathetic and based on anecdotal experience I think a lot of it is because of war planning.
Yes we were. The only reason we didn't was because the country revolted and put in a Republican Congress in 1946 who repealed all of the rationing laws. Funny how that little episode is totally written out of history class. You just hear about the post war boom, Dewey Defeats Truman, and move on to Eisenhower. Nothing to see here.
The wrong people survived.
Law of unnatural selection and war.
I distinctly remember a BBQ where I was sauteeing onions and mushrooms while a gaggle of lesbians in cammo pants and wife beaters did the grilling.
I almost got beaten by one who thought I said "big dyke" instead of "good night". Ah highschool.
"lesbians in cammo pants and wife beaters"
Isn't that rdundant?
GIVE ME AN "E"!
They wear jnco shorts and jerseys, too. And crocs. Seriously, I know anti-fashion goes with non-femme, but have some pride.
I think they just stick out more. Lesbians who dress within the bounds of standard fashion or who are done up femme aren't likely to register as lesbians when passing them on the street. These were college freshmen women, so I expect their styles were exaggerated for effect.
"register as lesbians"
You have to register?
Yes EvH with THE AGENDA?
I thought we'd covered that already. Although I meant more register as a ping on one's gaydar.
Most women I know don't want to eat big chunks of meat as much as more men I know. Grilling involves making big chunks of meat.
Mystery solved.
Grilling just seems like a more male type of cooking, compared to, say, baking. Frying is the same way: direct heat plus poking at the food seems more male, somehow.
agree. Mostly, grilling is a low information/low skill form of cooking. (and yes I realize there are those who make an art form of it).
why is barbecuing seen as something women don't or can't ? or, more accurately, shouldn't ? do? How ? and why ? do men continue to claim this sacred fire-space as a male-owned sanctuary where women are not permitted?...
So if a man grills, he's denying women the funny of smelling of smoke, meat, and charcoal and standing over an open flame for a few hours.
If the woman does it, the man is a lazy bastard who wants her barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen backyard.
Feminism: Heads I win, tails you lose.
Good point. "I have decided to open up my male sanctuary to you, so, grill me a steak!"
God help you if that steak is burnt, woman!
If men don't do the chores, we get bitched at because we're not helping.
If men do the chores, we get bitched at because we're not letting the women do them.
A majority of Americans see charities and volunteer organizations as the best way to improve society, not the government.
We're never going to be Europe with that attitude.
No carbon tax rise, despite program's success
File this under "more right than you know".
A majority of Americans see charities and volunteer organizations as the best way to improve society, not the government.
Could it be because Americans are among the most charitable people on the planet?
That is one thing about the country Obama really is working hard to change.
Or because a majority of americans are finally seeing the US Government does about jack shit that's useful to anyone in the world.
Nevermind, it's definitely not that.
Leader of Canada's Liberals Justin Trudeau has come out in favor of full MJ legalization.
Well, his mother was a coke whore, so you'd figure he'd be against criminal penalties for drug use.
I'm a bit surprised -- doesn't anyone here remember the scourge of Studio 54, dater of Ted Kennedy and Ron Wood, estranged wife of the Canadian Prime Minister and all-around 70's party chick Maggie Trudeau?
Did she have those pointy seventies missile titties? Curiosity getting the better of me here.
Judge for yourself...
Kind of pointy... appreciate the effort. 😀
Trudeau won custody of the children and did not pay any spousal support.
I'm amazed the courts actually ruled in his favor like that.
Grizzlebee's! You'll wish you had less fun!
Sealab was such a funny show until the voice actor who did Murphy died.
No love for the "Sealabia" episode?
Mostly true but the Shrabster episode was hilarious.
Hesch wants marital sex!!!!
I hate Pod Six. I don't even know why we have a Pod Six. Total suck Pod.
Post Murphy it did have its moments but it had, uh, dove under the shark.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., wants to the United States to formally sanction any country that offers asylum to NSA leaker Edward Snowden.
We should just send Lindsey over to give them a stern talking-to. I'm sure Putin is eager to hear what he has to say.
In this case, I'd like to see Putin deliver a thorough ass whooping to Graham.
At least Putin's relatively honest about his commie views.
The U.S. Army is introducing environmentally friendly bullets.
Instead of lead slugs, they use gold.
"Only a gold bullet will do for these evil monocled libertarians, like silver and werewolves."
And there will be tiny pictures of flowers engraved on the bullets, in tribute to Mother Earth.
Zimmerman juror: Zimmerman got away with murder
The only minority on the all-female jury that voted to acquit George Zimmerman said today that Zimmerman "got away with murder" for killing Trayvon Martin and feels she owes an apology Martin's parents.
"You can't put the man in jail even though in our hearts we felt he was guilty," said the woman who was identified only as Juror B29 during the trial. "But we had to grab our hearts and put it aside and look at the evidence."
She said the jury was following Florida law and the evidence, she said, did not prove murder.
Statements like these I hate because they play right into the hands of the fascists that think the standard of beyond a reasonable doubt is too much.
But at least she was reasonable enough to follow the law.
You beat me to it. To me her statement is a tribute to the system working. It shouldn't matter what she feels. What matters is the evidence. She did her duty and took her task seriously. She should be applauded not be apologizing.
She *has* to apologize, or face sanctions like the Gerstles.
This.
This.
"You can't put the man in jail even though in our hearts we felt he was guilty."
1) Got a mouse in your pocket, Maddy?
2) Yet.
If the evidence did not prove murder and you are admitting that it did not, how can you then say that Zimmerman "got away with murder"?
That statement goes beyond simple cognitive dissonance and right into the realm of cuckoo-land.
I don't think so. You can think that he probably committed murder and still acquit him.
That's another issue I have with her too. She's not saying "I think he committed murder, but I just wasn't sure enough to convict" she's saying he was 100% guilty in her eyes but she couldn't convict for lack of evidence. Um, what?
Guilt is like pornography -- you know it when you see it.
he was 100% guilty in her eyes
White guy shoots black kid = 100% guilty.
she couldn't convict for lack of evidence
Unfortunately, the test for murder isn't "did a white guy shoot a black kid?"
Obama and Holder are working to change that.
Which is what makes me wonder about the possibility that she was somehow...intimidated, say, into making these comments. I mean, only the woman herself could speak to her real motivations, but in her position, I could see myself wanting to find some way to deflect all the "racist monster" accusations.

Stop apologizing for doing your duty lady.
How much of it is she doesn't want people to hate her for doing the right thing?
She's basically using the "I was only following orders" excuse.
I don't quite buy it. If they all thought he was guilty, they'd have figured out a way to get him for manslaughter. While they certainly didn't have even remotely enough evidence to convict, how could they make the jump to he's definitely guilty?
I could see that more in a case like Casey Anthony or O.J., but not here.
I hadn't thought about the manslaughter issue. Maybe she is nuts, or more likely saying what she thinks will keep her house from being burned down.
No doubt there's plenty of pressure to distance yourself from a verdict where riots, death threats, and other unpleasantness have been suggested.
I know one thing--no way all six thought he was guilty. Deliberations would've taken longer, for one thing.
I've sat on a criminal jury before, and we had a case where we thought the guy might have been guilty but didn't see the facts as even close to good enough. If I'd been interviewed later, I wouldn't have said I knew he was guilty, because, just like here, the whole problem was the lack of evidence.
Yeah. No one thought he was really guilty.
Didn't they keep them anonymous for that very reason? Why speak to the press at all?
Self-defense is still a defense against manslaughter. If there was reasonable doubt for murder two, there was reasonable doubt for manslaughter as well.
I think this is at least partly a CYA "Don't hunt me down and kill me" statement. But, of course, it helps inflame the situation even more.
No, I understand that, but I'm pretty sure they'd have split the baby if they knew he was guilty. The fact is that it's clear they don't think they know anymore than the rest of us not named George Zimmerman do.
Yeah, the way people "know" this was murder is such bullshit. It often seems to come down to: "He had a gun and Trayvon didn't and Trayvon was just 17 so it must be murder!" As if unarmed black teens never attack anyone.
I'm probably slightly inclined to believe that Zimmerman was mostly telling the truth and that Martin initiated and used unreasonable force in the incident, but I don't know anything about what actually happened. If new evidence came to light, I could easily change my mind.
One thing I do know. There wasn't even remotely enough evidence to convict Zimmerman of anything.
I agree.
They've been brainwashed by all those damned libertarians! There's nothing in real life that could lead them to arrive at that conclusion - NOTHING! So it must've been all those damned libertarians!!
[Continues ranting while being lead to the nice padded room...]
Padded room?
The way you're ranting, you should be a celebrated Republican Senator.
Lindsey? Is that you?
Pope Francis Head of child raping organization says no to legalization of drugs
Lighten up, Francis.
Or, you know, light one up.
Joe Paterno's corpse is against MJ legalization?
I figured he was talking about the Teacher's Union.
The Goodyear, Arizona police department has always been hard on drugs.
He really is a shameless narcissist, isn't he?
Was there any doubt? After all, he wrote two books. Two! Count them! Two books! Himself!
That's what he said.
He actually said that, huh? Confirms so much about so many.
You know, it shows how bad journalism is today that journalists aren't making nasty noises about the suggestion that they just sit around applauding his various pronouncements. Fucking pathetic.

Yeah, her mistake was not stealing it through the "proper channels"

Whatever happened to the proud tradition of women in trouble turning to stripping or porn, to help pay off their debts? Kids these days...
NBA player J.J. Reddik reportedly once had an abortion contract with a former girlfriend; Amanda Marcotte is on the case to tell us what this means about Men's Rights Activists
Stoeffel argues that such contracts should be precoital, as well as "lighthearted and verbal," two qualities that are really beyond the capacities of the average self-identified "men's rights activist." The sad truth of the matter is there's nothing in the real world?not even abortion contracts?that will quell the paranoid self-pitying rantings of those who believe men are the "real" oppressed class. The woman who deliberately gets pregnant to trick a man into coughing up child support?so she can live in the lavish style of being a single mom who has less than half of her child-related expenses paid?is one of those myths that exists because of the believer's emotional needs, not real-world evidence. (Though research does show that a shocking number of men deliberately sabotage women's birth control.) Like the conservative media whipping themselves into a frenzy over imaginary race riots or claims that gay people are trying to destroy marriage, the belief about the old pregnancy trick perpetuates because it allows bigots to cry that they're the ones who are under assault.
The woman who deliberately gets pregnant to trick a man into coughing up child support?so she can live in the lavish style of being a single mom who has less than half of her child-related expenses paid?is one of those myths that exists because of the believer's emotional needs, not real-world evidence.
Fact that do not fit the narrative do not exist. No man is falsely accused of rape, despite the steady stream of men being released form prison after being found to be innocent. And no woman ever tricked an NBA player into getting her pregnant. Just ignore the women who have said as much and the huge number of bastards NBA players have. They are just really veril guys I guess.
Like the conservative media whipping themselves into a frenzy over imaginary race riots
lol
I don't recall anyone talking about race riots other than liberals who threatened them. They don't wait long to re-write history do they?
OMG! They're on to me!!!!!!
Note Amanda gives no citation to this "research" and doesn't tell us what this "shocking" number is. I guess having an editor who keeps you from pulling shit out of your ass is just an old part of the patriarchy or something.
Actually, she does: her link. A sample:
This seems really, really weird to me, mostly because I don't get at all why a guy would want his partner to have a kid. Especially if she didn't want to. I don't get the motivation. (Not saying I don't believe it happens...it just seems...really weird to me.)
Look at where the sample came from "state subsidized birth control clinics" in California. Think about that. Who would be visiting state run birth control clinics in California? Hispanic immigrants largely? Who tend to be Catholic and tend to value having male children.
So, that study doesn't say anything at all about the country at large.
Yeah, it talks about how it may be a class-based thing, but other studies have found it may be more widespread. It still seems like a really weird practice. I can see super controlling abusive type guys doing it, because that's the kind of weird shit super controlling abusive guys do (and I'm talking about psychopaths here)...but like, why would some 17-year-old kid pretend to his girlfriend that their condoms kept breaking? (That's one of the stories at the link.) I mean, is it just because he's 17 and therefore stupid? I don't understand the game here.
State subsidized and state run aren't quite the same. Also we're talking CA so everything's probably been touched by a subsidy at some point. I'm assuming Planned Parenthood falls into this category? In which case women from all over the socioeconomic and ethnic map are going there.
Yeah, I somehow suspect the reverse is true more often.
so she can live in the lavish style of being a single mom who has less than half of her child-related expenses paid
I doubt these NBA baby-mommas are scraping by on a few hundred a month from their millionaire sperm donors.
I have no idea where she comes up with the notion that a father's contribution vis-a-vis child support only relates to the child's actual expenses. That isn't true at all.
Because rad-fems believe that a man's contribution to a child's upbringing starts and ends at his wallet.
They're basically trying to punish the rest of society for their daddy issues.
Amanda Marcotte's main problem is her obvious frigidity.
The woman who deliberately gets pregnant to trick a man into coughing up child support?so she can live in the lavish style of being a single mom who has less than half of her child-related expenses paid?is one of those myths that exists because of the believer's emotional needs, not real-world evidence.
You see all the modifiers in there? So she can live a lavish lifestyle...
Look, some girls, usually young and dumb will try to get pregnant so the guy won't leave them, or some stupid shit. When I was 18 I had a gf who wouldn't stop asking me what I would do if she got pregnant. That was a red flag to me. It didn't last much longer than that.
I have a great story about a friend's college girlfriend who really, really hated her (single) mom, and clearly got pregnant as a way to persuade her boyfriend to move away with her. After a couple months of planning their new life several states away, they were fighting a lot and he was pretty much done with it, and she just happened to have a miscarriage the day after he told her he was not going away with her anymore...
Of course, he idiotically kept sticking his dick in crazy and really did get her pregnant later, but they weren't really together at that point and she gave the baby up for adoption.
I propose that all future Graham related posts be done as a reverse blind-item: don't tell us what he did, just that it's Graham and let us guess what kind of asinine thing he's done now.
I prefer tell us what he did, but don't name the senator. Odds are better that way; we can even gamble (or gambol) on it.
"But we had to grab our hearts and put it aside and look at the evidence."
Evidence is racist.
Wait.
Johnny Weir is gay?
I like Johnny. He is so over the top. You have to admire someone who is that willing to be himself in such an outrageous way and not give a shit what anyone thinks.
he can cook too.
But he was never strong enough to do a quad soo...no skating carrer for you.
He didn't start skating until he was 12. And he still ended up being one of the top ten skaters in the world. That is really remarkable. Skating is so hard. It is like starting your gymnastics career at 12. You have to be freakishly talented to even make the top 100 in the world starting at that late age. But top ten is amazing.
I saw him on Chopped. He did a good job. He just didn't win because all of his portions were too small. The poor guy had spent years starving himself for his sport, he didn't know how to cook normal portions.
What will those Germans think of next?

Can you imagine her American counterpart responding with, "eh not a big deal."?
"THE CHILDREN!!!"
Scientists have discovered a way to implant false memories into mice.
A team was able to make the mice wrongly associate a benign environment with a previous unpleasant experience from different surroundings.
The researchers conditioned a network of neurons to respond to light, making the mice recall the unpleasant environment.
Reporting in Science, they say it could one day shed light into how false memories occur in humans.
The brains of genetically engineered mice were implanted with optic fibres in order to deliver pulses of light to their brain. Known as optogenetics, this technique is able to make individual neurons respond to light.
One step closer to the world of Phillip K. Dick.
I'd be interested to see this tested on humans to see what effects it has on "nature vs nurture."
It would also be wildly unethical. I mean like Joseph Mengele unethical.
Somewhere a bio-ethicist's head just snapped up from his desk, a line of drool flying across the room as he begins to sniff, trying to find the unethical behavior which has awakened him.
The working definition of unethical to most bio-ethicists is "somebody agreed of their own free will to something which may not be in the collective's best interest as I see it."
Yeah, but this kind of turns the whole idea of consent on its head, doesn't it? After the procedure--you wouldn't even know for sure if you'd actually consented at all.
Reading Reason's coverage of bio-ets has made me well aware of this. My comment was for purposes of humor only - if I have failed at this, I will atone by hitting myself with whatever the HnR currently approved thickness of pizza is.
Report to the Reason labs for memory reassignment.
I did, they were going to use alt-text but they forgot it so I still have the same memories.
Infomred consent, John. You can find somebody who's willing to do anything for a chance to be on TV. Make this a reality show and suckers willing participants would line up around the block to have light shot in their brains.
I think I'd base my production company and filming offshore, though, just in case.
Even informed consent wouldn't allow you to do that. It would be like infecting people with diseases to study the natural history of them. Can't consent to some things.
So, we'll have to rely on the government to do it to unsuspecting minorities? That's what I'm hearing.
Well there is always that. But now it will be Tea Baggers.
So boning someone that you know has an STD makes you a rape victim?
Apparently you haven't had to take human subjects research training.
Pretty soon we will, at last, have mice replicants.

'Two and a Half Men' to boot Angus T. Jones--a Christian who last year called the show 'filth'--and replace his character with a "sexy and gorgeous" lesbian character.
Partly as a replacement for Angus T. Jones -- whose screen time will be sharply cut after he publicly bashed the show as "filth" last year -- CBS' hit sitcom is going to add a recurring and possibly permanent lesbian character named Jenny. She's the 21-year-old illegitimate daughter of the late Charlie Harper, who was played by Charlie Sheen, who himself was booted from the show after tangling with his bosses.
[snip]
She "will share many traits with her deceased father, including her love of women," E! News reported.
Two Men and a Lesbian? That's actually not a totally uninspired idea in my opinion.
They can only go up. And I suspect they would have booted him anyway. Kid characters don't work anymore when they are no longer kids.
Is there really so little on TV? I need to submit a sitcom based on H&R characters.
Yes. And even HBO wouldn't pick up a show with that much depravity.
The trick is to never actually show Warty, just reference him.
Yeah. That and the rapesquatch jokes.
I wouldn't know. Most of my viewing is either sports or TCM.
I enjoyed the Gold Cup and Mel Brooks' The Twelve Chairs last night.
It was Mel Brooks tribute night, right? Should've watched.
What, you haven't seen The Guild?
I demand to be played by a bunch of cantaloupes ducted taped together.
I've seen that movie. It's downloadable any number of places.
Pretty dumb to say that publicly about a show that is paying you $300,000 an episode. Then again he is apparently a Seventh-Day Adventist.
So, already dumb?
How can *anything* be dumber than that show? Even if he went to some Pacific island to join a cargo cult, he wouldn't be as dumb as 2.5 Men.
India's army reportedly spent six months watching "Chinese spy drones" violating its air space, only to find out they were actually Jupiter and Venus.
China controls the orbits of Jupiter and Venus? Jesus.
And we stupidly demoted Pluto to dwarf planet! Mr. President, we must not allow a planetary orbit gap!
This is why we need the F-35.
Yep, the next nuclear war will be fought over something like this.
Yeah, it's really reassuring to find a nuclear power making that kind of mistake.

Its their British heritage. Either smashing or double bagger. Little in between.
I remember her--the main dude's wife, right?
Since HBO has a revolving door of actors they like to use, Kevin McKidd is going to show up as Jon Connington and Ray Stevenson as Ser Rolly Duckfield.
I'm shocked they haven't nabbed Brian Cox yet.
He's brilliant.
Brian Cox would probably do a very good Doran Martell, Rodrik Harlaw, and maybe Wyman Manderly.
I'm actually surprised they didn't cast McKidd as Kevan Lannister.
I thought he was great in Rome.
Caesar is Mance Rayder, and I could have sworn that McKidd was Tormund the first time Jon met them.
Nice. Naiobi was always a hottie.

Coase Coase Coase
Ugh: 23 year old at center of Anthony Wiener scandal speaks out.
Sydney Leathers, the 23-year-old who engaged in online sex chats with Anthony Weiner, says the former congressman told her he loved her.
In an exclusive interview with Inside Edition's Jim Moret, set to air on CBS Thursday and Friday, the 23-year-old says Weiner, during one of their online chats, even consulted her before deciding to run for mayor.
"You told Anthony Weiner that you loved him?" Moret asks Leathers, according to a statement from Inside Edition.
"Yes," Leathers replies.
"Did he tell you he loved you?"
"Yes."
Leathers also compares her relationship with Weiner to that of two characters' in the Netflix series, "House of Cards."
"I feel like I'm in a real life 'House of Cards'?" she tells Moret. "He is the Frank Underwood of 'House of Cards.' I see Anthony as Frank Underwood, and myself as a Zoe."
How pathetic and unsympathetic can one person possibly be?
She is not totally unattractive. She is young, looks thin in that picture. Doesn't have a horn growing out of her head. Are single 20 something women just that hardup?
She's fine. But if I knew she compared her life favorably to a show about a corrupt Congressman I'd stay away.
Daddy issues. Everyone who has seen HoC knows what I'm talkin' about.
Plus the old "the personal is political" thing that leftists are so susceptible to. "Oooh, a progressive male politician! How hot!"
"He told me he loved me."
Damn, that STILL works?
It worked on me, right Epi?
Sydney Leathers?
That can't possibly be her real name.
Leathers and Wiener...
She's a 5. Would be 6 if she didn't have a mouth full of horse teeth.
Her game likely was "OMG! Anthony Weiner! You're a Democrat? I'm a Democrat too! I organized for Obama! TEAM Blue politics are so sexy! Send your dick to my phone!"
If Weiner had set up the threesome with the girl and his wife, I'd still hate him, but he'd get some fresh Man-Cred.
Sydney Leathers. Is that her stripper name?
uhhh...he threw her off a roof at the end of the first season (original not Kevin Spacey version).
Oh I bet he will.
For Men, a Gluteus More Maximus
... Last fall, he had his first consultation with Dr. Constantino G. Mendieta, the author of "The Art of Gluteal Sculpting" and a cosmetic surgeon in Miami.
"When I went in to the doctor, I said, 'I'm not a girl so I'm not worried about having a table back there you could sit a coffee cup on,' " Mr. Vickers said. "I just wanted to be able to put on a pair of pants and for them to stay up."
Dr. Mendieta performed liposuction on Mr. Vickers's abdomen and love handles, then injected the fat into the buttocks.
"They take the fat where you don't want it, and put it where you do want it," Mr. Vickers said.
As men age, they tend to lose fat from their buttocks, faces and hands, while gaining it in stomachs and chests, Dr. Mendieta said. Weight lifting yields only modest results for the posterior.
"The only way to pump up your derri?re," he said, "is with your wallet." ...
... At Freshpair, an online store, buttocks-enhancing underwear accounts for more than 6 percent of men's underwear sales, up from less than 1 percent five years ago, according to Matthew Butlein, the president of the company.
"With the trend going toward slimmer pants, you're able to see the assets underneath a lot better," Mr. Butlein said.
In the Calvin Klein Body Boost Butt Trunk ($22), support straps inconspicuously woven into the fabric of the boxer briefs lift and support. Elastic undergirdings in the 2(x)ist Lift No Show Brief ($24) also give hindquarters a boost.
Go Softwear introduced the first line of men's underwear with enhancement padding in the seat in 1996, said the company founder, Greg Olvera, who came up with the idea in a marketing class at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif. ...

Illinois Governor demonstrates the problems with the line-item veto.
CHICAGO (AP) -- Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka said Thursday that she has no choice but to withhold lawmakers' paychecks, citing a precedent-setting court case that bars her from paying state employees without a budget appropriation or court order.
Gov. Pat Quinn cut $13.8 million for legislators' paychecks from a budget bill earlier this month, saying it wouldn't be restored until lawmakers addressed the state's $97 billion pension shortfall. He also suspended his own pay.
"It is my deep hope that this matter is resolved expeditiously," either by a court or by lawmakers agreeing on a solution to the pension crisis, said Topinka, who undertook a legal review to determine if Quinn's actions were constitutional. The Riverside Republican said Thursday that Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office advised her of the case that appears to bar her from acting
Problem? Heck, that's great. With any luck, the legislature will fire back with a constitutional amendment making the governor an appointee of the legislature.
I love stuff like this.
He's very non-traditional for an Illinois governor. He cut his own salary to zero, as well. I mean, unless he's got deals lined up to sell Senate seats.
That was a good move, because it was the obvious counterattack by the legislature.
Why didn't they call this 10 tips for Dumb guys?

GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE.
smooches, troll
Only a true powerlifter would be brave enough to utter these classy words.
he was not "innocent". he unjustifiably drew a gun on the police
and he paid the price
fuck him
Well, a powerlifting hero or a pussy with a monopoly on violence.
Waaaaaaahhhh! Poor little troll.
And not a powerlifter, a weightlifter.
The guy did unjustly draw a gun and he escalated the encounter needlessly.
Sorry if you're still butthurt about it
Whatever, chump. The cops murdered him in cold blood and the entry points and angle the shots came from completely contradict their fabricated narrative.
But their special brand of due process got their co-workers doing the investigation and they walked...just like a "civilian" surely would have, right?
Yawn, troll.
What did the investigation show? Were any cops charged?
I thought not.
troll on.
Oh btw, where;s the statute in your state that says that if you commit a simple assault (misdemeanor assault) but are armed during its commission, that that is a felony.
I've searched CA penal codes and I can only find assault with a deadly weapon ADW statutes which of course require the gun is USED, not merely carried (iow is pointed at the person, etc.)
I'm not saying you are wrong. I am saying I have never seen any penal code that has such a statute, so I am asking for proof - iow a cite.
You said it, so support it. I'm perfectly willing to believe it if you can support it
Then believe it, fuckhead.
FTA: LIST OF WEAPONS SENTENCING ENHANCEMENTS IN CALIFORNIA
Defendant is a principal in a felony crime where any principal is armed with any firearm. There is an enhancement of?
1 year
Defendant is a principal in a felony crime where any principal is armed with assault weapon or firearm. (This enhancement also applies of both firearms and drugs are present at the same location) There is an enhancement of?
now, click the "Assault" tab and read this: In addition the crime of assault may have several different sentencing enhancements that may increase the punishment tremendously.
Those enhancers are listed on the above-linked page and list it as a FELONY if the assaulter is in possession of a firearm.
I know the law, dumbass.
No you don't. It nowhere says a MISDEMEANOR (simple) assault while armed is a felony. Cite it. You haven't yet
Looking at Florida's law on the subject, I note that they exempt police from it.
http://www.leg.state.fl.us/STA.....5.087.html
(5)?This section does not apply to law enforcement officers or to United States military personnel who are performing their lawful duties or who are traveling to or from their places of employment or assignment to perform their lawful duties.
It says "felony crime". Simple assault is a misdemeanor crime
You are wrong. Feel free to consult an attorney on this
I explained to you already a # of felony crimes have ENHANCEMENTS when a weapon is used.
THAT is what you are citing
If you don't believe me , ask john.
This does not support your claim.
"Defendant is a principal in a felony crime "
Misdemeanor assault is not a felony crime.
Robbery, burglary , agg assault etc. are.
so you are wrong
Read the assault page, dipshit. It says there are enhancers for assault, and in the enhancers, it says 1 year (it has to be a felony to get a year) for possession of a gun. It's an enhancer that automatically makes it a felony.
I don't need to ask John. I already asked my brother in law, who is a California and Arizona trial lawyer. I'll take his word for it over someone who works in Washington and apparently thinks a cop getting a stern sentence for throwing his ex-girlfriend out a second story window is an awful thing.*
*A civilian would have been tried for attempted murder had he done exactly the same thing, not aggravated assault.
You are wrong./ You have not yet cited where it says that simple assault while armed becomes a felony
Cite it ...
What did the investigation show?
You mean the "investigation" their fellow officers performed...after the chief said the shooting was justified the very night it happened?
Were any cops charged?
What does that have to do with whether or not they committed a crime?
It should have been taken before a grand jury at a minimum.
Weightlifter, powerlifter, whatever. Either way the steroids continue to fuck with your brain, given how you're not even trying to bother with the "LOOK AT ME! I'M ONE OF THE GOOD COPS!" charade anymore.
I am one of the good cops and nothing I have said negates that.
If you come to the door when the police knock and you are holding a gun in your hand, while the police are looking for a violentfelon, you are a fucking moron and you are needlessly escalating the situation.
hth
If you come to the door when the police knock and you are holding a gun in your hand,
ONE MORE TIME, AND SLOWER:
W H A T I F Y O U D O N O T K N O W I T I S T H E P O - P O A T T H E D O O R B E C A U S E T H E Y D O N O T I D T H E M S E L V E S ? ? ?
STUPID TAKING AWAY MY EXTRA SPACES
And he knew the cops were cops or that they were looking for a violent felon because...he's a mind-reader that can see through walls?
Remember, the cop that shot him to death was beside the door, not directly in front of it. And they said he flung the door open and raised his gun...then they changed it to he pointed it out the door...to held it at his side.
And they did not announce that they were police officers either, by their own admission because "they're not required to do so".
Now, you were saying something about needlessly escalating a situation...
Still waitinf for you to admit your error in your claim that committing a simple misdemeanor assault while armed in the state of CA turns the simple misdemeanor assault into a felony. The statute he cited only applies to sentencing enhacements when the defendant is committing a FELONY CRIME
Thes statute you supported supports enhancements (which many states have) for committing a FELONY crime while aarmed, not a misdemeanor assault.
Feel free to contact and attorney and they will tell you I am right. Ask John. Hes an attorney.
You are wrong.
The enhancers make it a felony, dumbass. That's why they call them enhancers. I've asked my brother in law, who is an attorney. As I said before, I'll trust the word of an accomplished attorney that graduated near the top of his class at Northwestern Law over some disease-riddled taxpayer-sponging fuckwit from the Pacific Northwest.*
*Apologies to Episiarch.
again, you are wrong.
Read what it says. In CA if person A punches person B and person A happens to be armed but does not use the gun, it's a misdemeanor
Oh, go fuck yourself Dunphy. You mouth off about how wonderful the Seattle area cops are when they're one of the worst PDs in the country. You claim to be against the drug war but you're perfectly okay with enforcing it, and perfectly okay when a few proles get shot by members of the inner party, because it's for our own good and because FYTW.
HOW IN THE HELL WAS THAT GUY SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT THERE WERE COPS AT THE DOOR LOOKING FOR A VIOLENT FELON? You're fucking saying he deserved to be shot for not having ESP. You're a fucking sociopath.
Weak sauce, troll. Weak sauce
and btw, still waiting for Sloopy to admit error in his claim that committing a simple misdemeanor assault while armed in the state of CA turns the simple misdemeanor assault into a felony. The statute he cited only applies to sentencing enhacements when the defendant is committing a FELONY CRIME
and I'm waiting for you to tell us how he should have known it was a cop at the door
He's not only ok with the drug war, he admitted on here that he got a pharmacist to commit a crime and give him a patient's medical records without a warrant in his own little battle against drugz.
He thinks the court condoned it because the prosecutor did not disclose the methods to the defense in discovery (bad) and there was no objection made during the trial. So basically, he illegally collects evidence and uses it to put people behind bars for engaging in voluntary transactions. Yeah, he's one hell of a great guy.
Yawn.
Im not the keeper of records. I committed no misconduct as both the prosecutor and the judge conceded.
The case was adjudicated, the defendant was found responsible (juvenile court)
hth
I wasn't the HPPA custodian of records.
Firstly, it's HIPAA. If you're going to talk about somebody not knowing the law, at least know what the hell you're talking about.
Secondly, the pharmacist IS the HIPAA custodian, and you'd better damn well beleive his giving you the records was a blatant violation. The pharmacy should be paying a penalty for that.
I never said it wasn't a violation. I said my ASKING him is not a violation on my part.
Although HPAA has a # of exceptions to a warrant requirement to include ongoing crimes that represent a public danger and the defendant was still in nthe process of committing his crimes and endangering juveniles with Schedule II drugs, so the pharmacist probably wouldn't be found liable
Either way, my asking him is not a violation of HPAA
I'll take the word of a judge and a prosecutor over yours
hth
It's not HPAA either, just like it's not HPPA.
Also, what sloopy said. The fact that the judge did not question it does not mean it was legal, it just means the defendant had an overworked PD who didn't bring it up. It happens.
And I'll bet you whatever amount of money you like that I know the law here better than you do.
R C Dean told him exactly the same thing and he's an attorney in that very field.
Of course, R C Dean is no powerlifting surfboard rider that tutors calculus and physics on the side while he bangs Morgan Fairchild in the pooper, so his word may not be worth much.
I'm a corporate attorney, but most of my practice is in the health care space. I deal a lot with hospitals, and am very well versed in HIPAA.
Of course, I can't compete for knowledge with a weightlifting cop.
Judges give attaboys for evidence collection methods that aren't objected to by the defense now?
Laughable.
Listen, moron, the judge conceded no such thing, as an objection was not raised by the defense, which you said they did not do.
Or did this case happen to be presided over by the only Judge in America that stops trials to pat a prosecution witness on the head for doing such a great job at obtaining evidence?
You're such a lying tool.
THe judge and the prosecutor both said that my method of gathering evidence was kosher. We had a 3.5 and a 3.6 hearing. I did absolutely nothing wrong.
I'll take the word of a judge and a prosecutor over your interpretation
hth
What dunphy did was solicit the violation of a federal law, then make use of the ensuing violation to bring a criminal case.
And yes, there is absolutely no question that handing over a patient's records to a cop without a warrant or some form of process is a HIPAA violation. Probably not an actual criminal violation of HIPAA, but still a violation.
Since dunphy probably did not solicit an actual criminal act, he probably didn't quite commit the crime of solicitation. Maybe its just me, but I expect a little more from people than "didn't quite commit a crime".
Except as you know the police were in plain clothes and did not identify themselves as police, ACCORDING TO THE POLICE THEMSELVES. You know he did not know it was the police at the door, yet you want to mis-characterize the situation so it will look favorable to the police. The police were solely responsible for the death of an innocent, blameless man, and you gleefully dance on his corpse. You are a sick fuck.
Dunphy visits the new neighborhood gym before a relaxing night of neighborhood canine elimination.
dunphy isn't half that smart.
Fuck Planet Fitness. You know how you get strong? You pick things up and put them down. Period.
Politico's Simon: Obama's Trayvon Speech Prevented Riots
He also has a rock that keeps tigers away.
It's not only belittling to blacks--par for the course from the paternalistic left--but it's also exactly the opposite of what's being suggested. If the president hadn't kept opening his trap, the race issue might never have gotten legs in the first place.
Worst modern president or worst president ever?
He rarely spoke about it, only when circumstances pressed him - once when a notable African-American Harvard professor was detained by a cop for forcibly entering his own home after being locked out, and again when a jury found the man who shot Martin not guilty.
What's wrong with shooting people in self-defense?
It involves guns.
Can I stab someone in self-defense, then? It'll probably be a lot bloodier and messier than shooting people.
Oh, sure. Knives are great. We've loved them ever since that Australian guy introduced them to the U.S. in that movie.
What crap. If Obama wanted to stop riots, he'd have said "Zimmerman's been found not guilty. Respect the jury verdict. There will be no federal case. Everybody go home, and if you want to do something to stop the next Trayvon Martin from dying, figure out how to black teen males from wanting to be 'gangstas.'"
You should do one of those White House petitions to get him to say that. Or just hack his teleprompter.

South Carolina husband and wife were arrested and charged with the murder of a sex offender and his wife, were reportedly going to use the sex offender registry to kill more people.
? A South Carolina man targeted a sex offender at random, killed him and his wife and later told deputies he planned to kill others on the state's sex registry, authorities said Wednesday.
Jeremy Moody and his wife, Christine, were arrested and charged with murder, Union County Sheriff David Taylor said.
Jeremy Moody confessed to the crime and told investigators they arrested him just in time, Taylor said.
"He planned to kill another sex offender on the register today," the sheriff said.
I guess another good reason why there shouldn't be a sex offender registry.
I want Nancy Grace charged as an accessory. And I am frankly surprised this doesn't happen more often given the hysteria over the issue.
Saw this story earlier. I'm honestly unsure of how I should feel about it. I mean, murder is wrong, and murderers should spend the rest of their lives in prison, which this guy certainly should have had he carried out his plans. But, I can't say I'd shed a tear.
The comments are revolting.
More ideas for Dexter.
I'm eagerly awaiting the chorus of "if it saves just one life" in favor of eliminating these registries.

Why did monopoly not survive to be featured in some fantastical way chess was on Star Trek TNG? I know they abhorred capitalism, which will never happen, but poker stuck around, so games of chance were obviously still en vogue.
It did. Remember that stupid DS9 episode? The one with the wormhole aliens and the game? Monopoly. They keep changing the rules, see, until it makes no fucking sense.
Those weren't the wormhole aliens, they were just from the gamma quadrant. God, you're almost as bad as I am.
Oh, right. I accept correction.
DS9 wasa worthless waste of time and space. Fuck anybody that likes that show...and that includes my lovely wife.
I mean, it's got more Alexander.
Actually, I think I might put DS9 ahead of TNG. All after TOS, of course.
But it also has the death of Alexander!
I may have to watch the series again. It's been a while. I think it's free on Amazon Instant Video (for us Prime members, anyway).
I watch it on Netflix, but it's available on both (free with Prime).
Kneel before Amazon Prime, fools!
Amazon may be my favorite company.
How the hell did they post a loss last quarter?
Did they? Probably some expense--they're doing a lot of spending right now on things like same-day delivery, etc.
But it also has the death of Alexander!
Wait, it does? I may have to try watching it again then.
Does he die a horrible, agonizing death? Is he raped to death? Ooh, I'm giddy now.
Ever see the remake of The Fly? Same basic story, except that Alexander, Wesley, and a fly have a transporter accident. Pretty gruesome and horrific. I believe it won an Emmy for best dispatching of two hated characters or something.
Is he raped to death?
I don't remember seeing Warty in DS9.
Evidently I totally made that up. Why did I think he died in the Dominion Wars? I guess because he joins the army and then like disappears. Sorry sloop!
I'd call you a cunt for doing that to me Nicole, but I'm not that kind of guy.
FUCK YOU!
Fuck you Hasbro! *passes GO, collects $200*
Someone asked about the J sub D Memorial the other evening and I didn't see it for a couple of hours. The answer is YES!
Invites just went out and I have the draft tentatively set for the 17th (J sub D Memorial) and the 18th (You Didn't Build That). I'll finalize the draft date a little closer to the start of the season, so don't start raising hell at me for setting it early.
If you want in and didn't participate last year, send me an email and I'll put a waiting list together for the spots that aren't filled by last year's player.*
*Tulpa is out as far as I'm concerned, so somebody will get to fill his hole.
get to fill his hole
ugh
hehe
That was me and I saw your reply. Have already entered and complained about the draft time!
I want in! (Was I in? I think I dropped out for someone else.)
Your invite is on its way!
Indie film "Knights of Badassdom" - starring Peter Dinklage and Summer Glau, gets picked up
Trailer
Sounds interesting. I watch The Station Agent solely because of Dinklage, and I thought it was quite good.
I watched it. I don't continuously watch the film.
Well why the hell not?
Because I continuously watch the original Planet of the Apes?
That's reasonable.
I mean, I was raised on the Hestonian Apocalyptic Trilogy.
The Euro Crisis is over! Spain's unemployment has dropped for the first time in two years. Yes, it's down to 26.3 percent. Practically nothing!
To be fair, 73.7 employment is still hard to maintain with the noon-10pm siesta.

In the wake of the embarrassing incident with the fake Asiana crash pilot names, KTVU-TV has fired at least three producers.
Which should prevent most crashes in the future.
Oh wait, did they forget that they present reality, and don't create it?
OMG, THEY GOT SOME NAMES WRONG! Look, you want it done fast, or done right? Because journalism isn't special enough to escape that trade-off.

Sloopy is wrong. He claimed being armed with a firearm during a MISDEMEANOR assaault turns it into a felony in california. False.
He cites this:
FTA: LIST OF WEAPONS SENTENCING ENHANCEMENTS IN CALIFORNIA
Defendant is a principal in a felony crime where any principal is armed with any firearm. There is an enhancement of?
1 year
Defendant is a principal in a felony crime where any principal is armed with assault weapon or firearm. (This enhancement also applies of both firearms and drugs are present at the same location) There is an enhancement of?
"Defendant is a principal in a felony crime"
feel free to consult John on this sloop. Or any attorney. They will explain to you that these enhancement apply ONLY when the defendant is committing certain FELONY CRIMES, *******NOT misdemeanor assault******
Sloopy, wrong on the law yet again
-------------
What that means if you participate in a FELONY crime, there are enhancement when you carry a firearm. It does not apply to misdemeanor assault.
Again,
oh shut up old man
Just correcting sloopy on his misinterpretation of state law. And waiting to see if he;'s intellectually honest enough to admit it.
The law he cites only applies when a FELONY is being commited and then adds on sentence enhancements if the person is armed
It does not apply to a person committing a MISDEMEANOR assault.
Feek free to contact an attorney if you don't believe me or can't read statutes... like sloopy
I'll wait for sloopy's retraction, if he's intellectually honest
It is false that committing an assault (simple misdemeanor assault) in the state of CA while being armed turns that assault into a felony.
i said shut up old man
Smooches, troll. I'm still a waiting for sloopy to admit he falsely claimed that committing a simple misdemeanor assault while armed in the state of CA turns the simple misdemeanor assault into a felony. The statute he cited only applies to sentencing enhacements when the defendant is committing a FELONY CRIME
Dunphy, are you aware that "troll" denotes more than just a meanie?
"HOW IN THE HELL WAS THAT GUY SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT THERE WERE COPS AT THE DOOR LOOKING FOR A VIOLENT FELON? You're fucking saying he deserved to be shot for not having ESP. You're a fucking sociopath."
waaaaaah! THe shooting was justified and the cops were cleared. The cops did the right thing. It was justified.
If he was afraid to answer the door then look out the window and/or dial 911. Don't answer the door with a handgun IN YOUR HAND.
He was a dumbass and the investigation properly cleared the cops who shot justifiably
hth
smooches
and we all know the courts never make mistakes EVER
yawn. It never got to court because it was obviously justified.
Deal with it, little man-troll
The investigation that was done by the shooter's coworkers after their boss said it was a good shoot the night it happened? That investigation?
Oh, awesome Dunphy. If I'm ever accused of a crime, I'm going to go investigate myself and tell the judge and the DA that I didn't commit a crime after all. They'll totally believe me, right?
It's worse than that. Many places have what's referred to as "Administrative Court", where officers can be sent to answer for their crimes. And they don't even consider them crimes when they are found guilty, and they are able to continue their careers of administering justice to "civilians" who have only the criminal courts as an option.
Here's the story of a cop that went through that process when he broke into someone's house to perform an illegal search without a warrant. He managed to go on and frame someone for a crime and make false sworn statements, which netted him less time behind bars than Lindsay Lohan served for a DUI.
If that's due process and equal protection under the law, then I've got a 14" cock.
Nope. Not a good shoot. Here's my take:
If I knock on my neighbor's door and he answers with a gun in his hand, I'm not justified in shooting him.
Therefor, neither are the cops.
Easy. Peasy.
Unless you would care to point me to the statute that explicitly gives cops the right to use deadly force against someone who is (a) not resisting arrest and (b) would not have put a reasonable person in fear of their life.
But the cops have to go home at night.
You don't.
If he was afraid to answer the door then look out the window and/or dial 911.
People are banging on your door demanding that you let them in. Why on earth would you think that you have several minutes to wait for the cops?
Maybe his window doesn't give him a clear view of the door. Maybe the lighting at 2 am is so crappy he can't make out who is out there.
Regardless, every man has the right to answer the door with a gun in his hand. Period. Full stop. Home, castle, right to keep and bear arms, all that shit.
Here is the link to join the "You didn't build that" league.*

No way, there are a *lot* of journalists.
We're just unfortunate enough to have to see the worst on TV.
Possible, but there's no way it can approach the 10%.
Even though they tend to be liberal, at least most are smart enough to be consistent in their beliefs.
