NYC Plans Unenforceable Restrictions on 3D-Printed Guns
Why would anybody obey?
Hoping to stop plastic guns from adding to the city's bloodshed, one councilman is trying to stop "printable" guns before the technology to make them becomes widely available.
City Councilman Lew Fidler, a Brooklyn Democrat, plans to introduce a bill Wednesday laying out rules for the firearms that can be churned out on a 3-D printer and easily assembled.
His bill specifies that it's illegal to make the weapons without a gunsmith license, that the guns must be registered with cops and that each weapon must have an identifying number.
