Mark Sanford Wins South Carolina Congressional Race
Watch out for the interns
Disgraced ex-South Carolina governor Mark Sanford won his bid for redemption on Tuesday night, defeating Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch for his old seat in Congress.
Sanford, a Republican who admitted an extramarital affair in 2009, was ready to quit politics for good if he was not victorious in South Carolina's 1st Congressional District. He will replace Republican Tim Scott, who was appointed to the Senate.
He was the favorite in the GOP stronghold, which he represented from 1995 to 2001, but the revelation that his ex-wife accused him of trespassing at her home caused the National Republican Congressional Committee to withdraw its financial and logistical support. Sanford must appear in Charleston County Family Court on Thursday on his ex-wife's complaint.

So, would they describe Bill Clinton as "Disgraced ex-president Bill Clinton"? Probably not huh?
Why would they? He's quite popular.
Apparently Sanford is kinda popular too
Maybe, but this isn't really evidence of that. He's a Republican in a solid-red district.
He's very popular among us Old Right Conservatives here in SC. He was extremely popular while governor before the affair.
I don't waste so many words on him. He's just "President Bubba".
So much for PPP's awesome polling.
Has PPP ever been widely known as being accurate?
No, but that's never stopped lefties from widely quoting their results.
This is hilarious. There must be so much butt hurt in Charleston right now.
If you dare, check out the progtard hipster Charleston City Paper. Alot of yummy colbert/progtard tears.
Time for a victory hike on the Appalachian Trail.
I'm a little surprised his court date is still outstanding, seems like that could get really ugly. Could make for a fun week.
NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Christfag! BOOOOSSSSHHHH!!!!
Wow, good news. I was a bit worried about this.
so you're relieved that someone who misused your tax dollars and destroyed his family won just because their wasn't a D besides his name?
Good to know that you are part of the problem
Eh, would you really want to give more legitimacy to a lefty late night comic?
He was friendly to school choice and some other libertarian causes. I remember Stossel interviewed him a few times. Didn't he reimburse the government (or the taxpayers) for his adventures?
If we legalized polygamy, this wouldn't even be an issue.
I'm with Kurbster on this. The guy was an irresponsible pig, and no great friend of freedom. He played his constituency like a bunch of fools and they reward him with another election. That was a lose-lose situation no matter how it turned out.
You obviously don't live in South Carolina. Sanford is a godsent and actually cut spending, much to the fatass SCGOPs dismay. He was(is) an enemy to the established parties.
Endorsed by Ron and Rand Paul as well. Why? Because he was one of about a dozen to oppose Clinton/Bush/Gingrich growth of govt while he was in Congress.
but what if Ron and Rand aren't my ideal libertarians?
damn me and my zero-tolerance policy for political corruption
So you prefer your politicians "pure as the driven snow." Good to know.
You want to see real corruption? Look at current SC Gov Nikki Haley, a Republican BTW. Disaster.
I was amazed that Jesse Jackson Jr. was re-elected, given his antics. Now I understand. It's all TEAM. It doesn't matter what they do, it only matters what jersey they wear. Keep kissing that team red ass.
What part of SC's response mentioned the Republican Party as a reason for supporting Sanford?

You're talking out your ass.
Oh jesus, take your libertarian purity and stuff it. I didn't vote for the guy, but it's obvious he's better than Colbert's sister.
YES!!!!! Best news I've heard in a looooooong time.
Too bad the school choice efforts are kaput. 🙁
Being caught in an extramarital affair only has great potential to destroy political careers in "holier than thou" America. Anywhere else if the person's doing a good job nobody cares. So, this result was actually kind of refreshing.
