FDA Appeals Court Order Making Plan B Pills Available to All Ages
Wants to stop order from taking effect during appeal
The Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday appealed a court order directing the agency to make "morning-after" emergency contraception pills available without a prescription to all girls of reproductive age.
Lawyers with the Justice Department filed the appeal with the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York, according to court documents.
The appeal is the latest foray in the years-long legal battle over the pill known as "Plan B," a drug that has also sparked political and religious clashes. If taken up to 120 hours after unprotected sex, it is designed to prevent pregnancy.
The government is seeking to overturn U.S. District Judge Edward Korman's ruling from April 5 that required the FDA to make the emergency contraception available over-the-counter to women of all ages within 30 days.

I honestly don't understand the opposition to this.
I don't like abortion when the baby is well, a baby. Like in the Gosnell trial, or even much earlier.
But days after conception it's not even close to being that.
The opposition is based on the age. Can underage girls get piercings, tattoos,Sudafed or anything else w/o parent's permission/knowledge? In many states a pregnant juvenile is proof of felony statutory rape.

Wait. WHAT? Please provide some backing for this. I've seriously never heard of this. I was, sorta, educated in a Ohio high school that had the highest pregnancy rate in said entire large city for YEARS. I've never heard of ANYONE associated with these massive young bellies pulled up for rape.
No, as I understand this case, it's regardless of whether the girl has parental permission or not. Of course, the parent could always just buy it and lie to the pharmacist about who it's for; it's not illegal for the buyer to lie, and it's not illegal to share drugs within households.
War on jailbait!
Do so more conducive to girls
We should take good care of yourself.
