Russian Officials Recorded Conversation Between Bombing Suspect, Mom
Jihad was vaguely discussed
Russian authorities secretly recorded a telephone conversation in 2011 in which one of the Boston bombing suspects vaguely discussed jihad with his mother, officials said Saturday, days after the U.S. government finally received details about the call.
In another conversation, the mother of now-dead bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev was recorded talking to someone in southern Russia who is under FBI investigation in an unrelated case, officials said.
The conversations are significant because, had they been revealed earlier, they might have been enough evidence for the FBI to initiate a more thorough investigation of the Tsarnaev family.

"There might have been enough evidence.."
WTF???
There was already a ton of evidence warranting greater investigation and monitoring of the Tsarnaev family! A ton! The Russians told the FBI he may be a terrorist, the CIA had him on a terror watch list, he then spent 6 months in a Chechen terrorist haven, splashed jihadist ramblings all over the internet and even celebrated the 10th anniversary of 9/11 with an execution-style triple homicide of a few "decadent" infidel American acquaintances.
How much more do you need??!!
The FBI was too busy plotting fake bomb scares.
That's the thing that's so irritating -- if the FBI is going to be plotting fake bomb scares, shouldn't they be doing it with people like this and not some loser "anarchists" from Ohio?
Clearly, we need yet another federal law enforcement agency to coordinate intelligence between all the existing ones.
I think the real reason Putin gets vilified in the Western press is because he's actually competent.
