House GOP Won't Help Sanford's Comeback Campaign
He'll have to run for Congress on his own
The House GOP's campaign committee said Wednesday it will not be helping ex-South Carolina governor Mark Sanford in his comeback bid for Congress.
"Mark Sanford has proven he knows what it takes to win elections," said Andrea Bozek, a spokeswoman for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). "At this time, the NRCC will not be engaged in this special election."
The decision to withhold financial support from Sanford comes a day after the revelation that Jenny Sanford, the former governor's ex-wife, has charged him of trespassing at her home in violation of their divorce settlement.
