DC Reasonoids: Check Out Silver Circle, an Animated Movie About the Fed And More, Tonight!
If you're in the DC area, check out Silver Circle, an animated movie about anti-Federal Reserve activists.
At the center of corruption is the Federal Reserve who has gained enormous amounts of control over America's economy, with disastrous effects beginning to show.
Standing opposite, is the band of Rebels who have vowed to take back the freedom they once knew…and they won't go down without a fight.
Monetary mayhem. Explosions. Romance. Silver Circle plans to take indie animation to a whole other level.
The movie is debuting in the DC area at the Regal Ballston and will be playing over the next week.

I was exposed to liberty as a child. Thanks to regular psychiatric sessions, I now lead a normal life.
Is liberty a euphemism for your uncle's genitals?
Damnit, Jesse, do you ever think about anything besides genitals?
You don't? Er, not? Do that?
Well, it's not like I'm a member of the evil axis of hos, or anything like that.
Who said we were evil?!?
The better question is, what sign does a teaspoon make...?
A question for the ages.
Well, Nikki, I've changed my clothes and put on aftershave.
Does that compensate for my ordinary shoes?
She won't answer.
People say she's crazy...

Hyperion is just engaging in some patriarchal male bullshit. If it were straight men banging coeds he'd be like "Right on!" and give them all high fives.
/awkwardly accurate charicature of angry feminist
Stop othering Hyperion

I thought that my job here was to be chief patriarchal bullshitter?
I can play other roles! That's is just the one I excel at most naturally!
Who said we were evil?!?
All axis are evil.
Especially the Y axis.
Ag subsidies and healthcare tomfoolery can temporarily distract me from genitals. Other than that I'm pretty focused.
Fucking awesome! Why didn't I know about this before?
Is there time travel?
A wise-cracking sidekick talking dog?
A wise man who speaks only in riddles?
Who cares? As long as there are Libertarians foiling the plans of statists, and no fucking zombies!
Is there any genre of film, in all the history of films, that is more overdone to death, than fucking zombie flicks?
You might want to hold off on that assessment until the monumentally-overrated (in book form) World War Z comes out.
The first thing I thought when I saw that, was, you've got to be fucking kidding me. Zombies again?
but this time with more Zombies!
Based on the trailer it looks like these zombies are fast and capable of running, which completely negates the aspect of zombies that's supposed to make them frightening.
Eh? Slow zombies are pretty easy to take out or avoid. Fast zombies are fucking terrifying.
Yeah, when I went to see I am Legend, I was like really? This is basically just a zombie flick.
I really enjoyed WWZ. I also read it shortly after studying Oral History as a category of history taking and the author does an awesome job of using the style.
There's this thing with me, when watching a film, about believability. I mean, zombies are just about the least believable thing, ever.
Then again, there is real life where a small group of insane proglodytes took over the formerly greatest nation on earth and systematically turned it into a 3rd world shit hole.
I guess maybe I need to think over just what is believable.
"Is there time travel?"
No. But they'll be plenty of anal sex, abortion, police brutality, and at the end every immigrant is granted citizenship and they celebrate by getting gay married.
I forgot to mention everyone is high througg the whole thing. I kinda figured that was assumed though.
Are they ordering Deep Dish pizzas?
Adult television is written on a fifth grade level, as are most movies. If we have to resort to cartoons (what grade level is that? ) to sell our ideas, maybe the people who would be swayed by that are people we dont want.
not sure if serious, but not all cartoons are for kids.
Suthenboy is a bit of a "get off my lawn" type when it comes to TV and movies.
Or rather, get off my swamp.
Yeah, they only have lawns in the bayou when you get gators that stand still long enough for moss to grow on their backs.
Heavy Metal was a pretty awesome cartoon. I also liked Up.
I personally like the idea. Any platform to get the message out, I don't care what it is. A lot of adults like animated movies.
Myself, I am not a big fan, but I will watch this one, when it comes to MD. More than anything, just to see who shows up, if anyone, to see it.
My comment was part serious and part tounge-in-cheek.
Seriously though, if we win a bunch over with cartoons, wont they just run back to the statist camp the first time someone yells "squirrel!"?
And yeah, get off my fuckin' law...swamp!
I'm not sure where you're going with this. This was a pretty effective "cartoon".
You are so right. My hat is off to you H.M. .
You need to check out some Hayao Miyazaki. Princess Mononoke is outstanding.
Does she hang statists from lamp posts, right after the tar and feathering? If so, I'll watch.
No, she doesnt. Here is an excerpt from a quick google search about her:
"The story concentrates on involvement of the outsider Ashitaka in the struggle between the supernatural guardians of a forest and the humans of the Iron Town who consume its resources."
Ok, I could be wrong but that is as far as I go. I am not watching that. I am thinking AVATAR with less sophisticated graphics. Even if it isnt greenie bs, I am still dead tired of that theme.
No, it's far more nuanced than that. It's not a libertarian movie, but the woman who runs Iron Town provides gainful employment for women who are escaping prostitution, etc. The voice acting is excellent. Gillian Anderson is the mother wolf, and I think James Earl Jones and some other hollywood voice actors are in there as well. BTW, the animation is gorgeous.
Meh. I'm passing.
It's an enjoyable movie. Miyazaki definitely includes environmental themes in his works, but this one kinda reads like Metropolis, but industry and environment getting along instead of labor and capital.
If you're gonna go Miyazaki movie, it's gotta be Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind or Castle in the Sky. Patrick Stewart does a voice in the first one!
I didn't enjoy Princess Mononoke at all. It was incredibly depressing; basically just one nut punch after another. Definitely the most emo movie I've ever seen.
Certainly the fate of the boars is tragic, but the main male character does get rid of his demon, if I remember right, and the Spirit of the Forest is not truly dead.
