Laws Being Proposed to Terminate Sheriffs Who Refuse to Enforce Gun Control Laws
380 sheriffs in 15 states have said they won't comply with new gun control laws
Supporters of the 380 sheriffs in 15 states who so far have vowed to defy new state and federal gun control laws claim that legislation is starting to pop up around the nation to fire any state elected or appointed law enforcement official who doesn't obey federal orders.
The first effort emerged in Texas. Legislation proposed by Dallas Democratic Rep. Yvonne Davis would remove any sheriff or law enforcement officer who refuses to enforce state or federal laws.

Yeah well good luck with that Yvonne....I imagine that proposing this in Texas will likely see you as the first one removed from their position as a public servant.
Interesting. Sheriff's are elected and employed by their respective counties. I know the citizens can recall an elected sheriff for cause. How much control would the state have over a county officials employment, and what would prevent the citizens of a county from reelecting a state "removed" sheriff?
Never mind, why do I expect elected officials to make sense?
Nah. Don't hold another election. That just gives people like Yvonne Davis another bite at the apple.
I like the idea of having a big send off. Cameras, press, nice lunch spread, gold watch. Then the mayor announces that, due to Sheriff Smith's sudden departure, he will be appointing a sheriff to serve the rest of his term. The replacement will be none other than our very own Sheriff Smith.
Step 1: Pass law requiring Sheriffs to enforce all federal law.
Step 2: Find some obscure, outdated federal law that lots of people unknowingly violate.
Step 3: Fire Sheriff!!
I'm not sure why we would want sherrif's to enforce federal laws anyway - that's not what I pay mine for. I pay him to enforce state and county laws.
I don't even see how a state officer even has an obligation to enforce federal laws.
If the feds want their laws enforce then they can get their own cops to do it.
