Obama Signs Stop-Gap Spending Bill

Better to pull the plug

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama has signed a stopgap spending bill to keep the government running through the end of September.

The measure leaves in place $85 billion in automatic budget cuts known as the sequester. But it takes steps to ease the impact of the cuts to food inspection and college assistance for active duty military personnel.

Sigh. Remember when $85 billion dollars was a lot of money, and not just a drop in the bucket?

Still, it's something. It looks like they are actually going to have to accomodate these "cuts". Keep starving the beast. People have to wake up to the relationship between the cost of what the government has promised them and the cost of the taxes they will have to pay to support it.

Progressives are already thrashing around with trillion dollar coins, Keynsian wizardry, and selective default in order to keep spending the way thet have, with these trillion dollar annual deficits being the new baseline. Eventually, you run out of other people's money - even if you are allowed to print your own.
