15 of 93 Cuban Carnival Marchers Defect in Mexico
Wouldn't you?
Fifteen members of Cuba's "Guaracheros de Regla" troupe who participated in carnival festivities in the Mexican city of Veracruz, left their hotel and didn't catch their return flight to Cuba with the rest of the cultural delegation, reported DPA news.
Many islanders take advantage of the proximity of Mexico to the United States to abandon official sports, cultural or other delegations, since if they enter the US overland, they — under an old Cold War policy — are automatically granted the right of residence in that country, although it's not yet known if this is one of those cases.

Makes no sense. Michael Moore said Cuba is a paradise.
How dumb does someone have to be to defect from paradise? Stupid Cubans!
How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm?
What do you call a Cuban string quartet that is returning from a world tour?
A solo?
What would Che do about this?
"CHOOT 'EM!"
lol
If they're defecting to Mexico you know things are really screwed up in Cuba.
Hey, no one offered Cleveland.
lol
Actually, their goal is probably to enter the US and get asylum here.
Also, I remember a few years ago reading a story that some of doctors that that Castro had sent to Venezuela to help out his pal Chavez had abandoned their jobs and were living underground doing menial labor and odd jobs.
It was interesting to observe the idea that even Hugo's Venezuela as a laborer is better than Cuba (or Cuban enclave) as a medical professional. Also of note, the concept that economic well being sometimes takes a backseat to freedom.
What the hell is the matter with 78 of them?
Fear?
Close. A "string trio".
