Ex-Navy SEAL Launches Bid for Kerry's Seat
Republican Gabriel Gomez needs to collect 10,000 signatures
Former Navy SEAL Gabriel Gomez announced a bid Tuesday for Secretary of State John F. Kerry's vacated Senate seat in Massachusetts, according to various media reports.
Mr. Gomez, a Republican, still needs to obtain the required 10,000 signatures to file as a candidate by Feb. 27, Politico reports. He will face state Rep. Daniel B. Winslow, a former Mitt Romney aide, in an April 30 primary, according to the report.
