Brickbat: Getting Shoed

Nate and Elizabeth Searcy say they were stunned when their 8-year-old daughter Shaylyn came home from school with her shoes and socks wrapped with duct tape. Elizabeth says school officials had complained that Shaylyn refused to put her shoes on, and she suspects that may have prompted someone to tape the girl's shoes on her. Officials with the Wayne Township, Indiana, school system are refusing to talk about the case.

Well that will shoe her. Keds these days.
This is a very sticky situation, and the girl will be stuck with this experience for the rest of her life. Hopefully those responsible won't duck out on the consequences for their actions.
Is this how you people get your kicks? Have you no sole? Also, laces.
what a pack of heels
I think we've been punished enough.
But we were on a roll.
So Richard Dean Anderson has gone undercover as a teacher. Other kids should be so lucky.
That little ingrate. Back at the Battle of the Bulge we would have killed for the chance to wrap our boots in duck tape.
The kid has Down Syndrome, and this sort of discipline isn't new in Indiana, apparently:
Jesus.
See if we sacrificed all kids like this (and a good portion of normal kids to boot (npi)) to the volcano gods, they wouldn't be abused this way.
WTF
I wonder how much time the school would take to file a report with CPS if the girl had been sent to school rather than from school like that.
If the parents in that school (not just the parents of the kid in question) had guts, they'd protest collectively by all sending their kids to school in shoes with duct tape.
It's tape on shoes. I saw half of an 11u LL team with their cleats taped on one game last season.
Once again the government-sector schools are the biggest bully of them all.
And what would the parents have done if their precious snowflake had been sent home in the snow without the shoes she didn't want to wear?
It's a lawsuit win-win for them, no?
What are people supposed to do in that situation?
