Alleged Gunman Pleads Guilty in Family Research Council Shooting

A man accused of shooting a security guard inside the downtown Washington headquarters of a conservative Christian lobbying group pleaded guilty Wednesday in connection with the shooting.

Doesn't pleading guilty change him from "alleged gunman" to "gunman" or am I missing something?
Kinda interesting how when Giffords was shot, people immediately blamed Sarah Palin for a map that no one has seen, much less Loughner. But when COrkins admits he came across the SPLC's hate group page, all you hear are crickets.
