America Less Popular in Parts of Muslim World Now than at End of Bush Term
Views of the way Americans do business still positive though
In remarks at the Heritage Foundation today, Senator Rand Paul explained that while non-intervention alone won't end the threat of radical Islam, intervention has the effect of fanning its flames. When President Obama first took office in 2009, he went to Cairo to try to reframe the relationship between America and the Muslim world. No amount of lofty words, however, could cover the fact that Obama largely extended and expanded upon George W. Bush's controversial and polarizing counterterrorism efforts, even as he condemned them in Cairo. The lack of much substantive difference between Bush and Obama is reflected in polls. While perceptions of America saw a slight improvement across the Muslim world upon Obama's election, they've not only been reversed but in some cases are worse than they were in 2008 (including in Egypt, Pakistan, Lebanon and Jordan). A Pew Global survey from June shows confidence in Obama down 9 percent, to 24 percent, in Muslim countries, while America's favorability rating is down to 15 percent from 25 percent. In fact one of the few bright spots in the poll is an improvement in attitudes toward America in Russia, where favorability is up to 52 percent. More results:

We just haven't killed enough of them yet. Once the kill-bots reach their pre-set kill-limits all nine of them left will love us forever.
Or else...
The ones that are left will love us for not killing them. America alone among nations has the right to deal death from the sky.
This could be a whole new revenue stream for the US government. Countries perform their annual ritual offering of goods and treasure or the CIA finds radical mooselimb terrorists in their borders.
Well it would at least be a small improvement over the current situation of paying them to let us find terrorists in their borders.
I saw a sneak preview of the upcoming season (via Facebook). Seymour is in a clip.
That is so weird. I have it on good authority that blowing up furriners' homes and friends from the sky has no deleterious affects on their opinion of the people doing the blowing up. I wonder what could be causing their irrational hatred of the US since Obama took charge?
Must be all those new freedoms we keep getting.
They are just cosmotarians who don't understand how great 'Murika is.
Unpossible. I have it on good authority from the good people who comment on The Huffington Post, Salon, Slate, and other esteemed sites that Barack Obama has charmed the world with his charismatic speeches and just utter coolness.
How can any people possibly hate us when we have a president that is so cool he sings Al Green and slow-jams the news?
Non-intervention and a sane immigration policy (ending it for at least 40 years) would end the "Islamic" threat to the United States.
I couldn't agree more about immigration. Washington should stop making policy for 40 years and just let people cross borders as they desire.
Yeah, this is a great idea. Score one for Mallory.
"America Less Popular in Parts of Muslim World Now than at End of Bush Term"
Who gives a fuck? Seriously. Why should I give a shit what some dumbass fucker thinks of the USA. Frankly, the USA is now less popular with me than it was at the end of the Bush term.
the USA is now less popular with me than it was at the end of the Bush term.
RAAAAAAAAACIST!
Blowback is a myth. They hate us because of Madonna and McDonalds.
and our freedumbz
You realize these are the same people who throw acid on the faces of girls who dare to uncover themselves?
Bombing them doesn't make them like us more, but it's not the root cause. The root cause is Islam.
And Christianity. I mean, what sort of religion endorses stoning people for adultery or lack of respect for their elders? Barbarians. It's too bad that the so-called "moderate" Christians don't know how degenerate and evil their religion is. Any of them that say otherwise just don't know their religion as well as us, amirite?
You do realize that dress codes pre-date Islam, right? And that some Coptic and Maronite churches in the very same region enforce dress codes? And that some Latin rite Catholic churches in the fucking USA enforce dress codes?
We only pick on weak, basketcase nations. Can you imagine the stink if we picked off some hook handed sheikh living in London? The Queen would be pissed.
Blah blah Bushpigs blah blah...there, I refuted those so-called statistics.
As long as the proglodytes feel better about themselves, that's all that matters.
We're winning hearts and minds! We pick up the charred hearts and splattered gray matter once the drone has done its work. WINNING!
For some on the right that is a feature not a bug. The more they hate us (and Freedom and Apple Pie) the more right we must be.
That's just proof they're all dangerous terrorists!
Yep. Just like anyone who distrusts the police has outed themselves as a criminal.
For once you are right, bigorati.

I thought Obama won the Peace Prize for making everyone love us by being so dreamy?
The rest of the world is clearly just racist.
FTW^^^
Ignoring foreigners has worked out so well for the United States in the past.
Krayewski has a degenerate intellect.
There are plenty of perfectly good criticisms to make of US policy without resorting to chinstroking about our unpopularity with countries largely comprised of religious lunatics who murder their daughters for showing too much forehead.
America Less Popular in Parts of Muslim World Now than at End of Bush Term
I blame Bush
Gee it turns out Obama continuing his predecessor's unpopular policies does not make the Muslims love him more despite the fact that he is black, A Democrat and reads off a teleprompter well.
Anyway I don't think "international opinion" is in of itself something that anyone should be concerned about since it's not like libertarian ideas are very popular in America let alone outside of it.
So he says one thing and then does exactly the opposite, muslims notice this and their opinions of him and the United States in general plummet. Yet his fluffers here in the US have yet to even notice the disconnect much less stop stroking him off. Could it be that the average muslim is actually much smarter than the average Obama voter?
