Steve Chapman on Bogus Fears About Immigration Reform
To hear opponents tell it, the latest proposal for immigration reform will be a disaster for the United States. Warned one prominent opponent, Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), "By granting amnesty, the Senate proposal actually compounds the problem by encouraging more illegal immigration." The Center for Immigration Studies said it is a recipe for "effectively unlimited future illegal immigration." But as Steve Chapman explains, these fears are largely groundless.
