Ethics Panel Investigating Two Congressmen

Charges not yet specified, but both have been accused of wrongdoing

|

The House Ethics Committee announced on Friday that it is investigating allegations against Reps. Aaron Schock (R-Ill.) and Bill Owens (D-N.Y.).

The secretive panel did not specify the charges, but said it would make another announcement on Jan. 28, 2013. The outside Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) board referred the matters to the Ethics committee in August.

The allegations against Owens could stem from a ProPublica article published in May, which accused the congressman of taking a trip to Taiwan that was paid for by the country's lobbyists.
