  1. Mr Whipple   13 years ago

    Is this douchebag even relevant?

    1. Enough About Palin   13 years ago

Berate him if you must, but if there is ANYONE in this world who truly understands the minds of idiots, it's Chris Matthews.

      1. Joe M   13 years ago

When you gaze into the idiot, the idiot also gazes into you.

        1. sloopyinca   13 years ago

There's a "In Soviet Russia" joke here, but I can't quite put my finger in it.

          1. Clich? Bandit   13 years ago

            put my finger in it

            yyyyyyyyuuuuck!

            1. Sudden   13 years ago

In Soviet Russia, finger puts it in you.

              1. Jena   13 years ago

Yes. Here the finger has a glove.

          2. nicole   13 years ago

In Soviet Russia, leg tingles you!

          3. Groovus Maximus   13 years ago

In Soviet Russia, gazing into government idiots YOU!

            (This, unfortunately, is very true)

      2. Restoras   13 years ago

Yes, I am going with he certainly has experience with idiots.

    2. nicole   13 years ago

He does have the yummiest tears of them all...

      1. Sudden   13 years ago

Certainly. Due to the vinegary nature of them, they also have tenderizing effect on his tender, supple bod.

        /Dahmer

        1. Art Vandelay   13 years ago

          "supple bod"

          Ummmmm......

    3. Anonymous Coward   13 years ago

Chris Matthews IS an idiot. No conditionals, no qualifiers.

  2. Flatulent Monkey   13 years ago

No, Chris Matthews you are the colossal moron, you believe that there is a difference between the two teams are nil and you seem to think that one brand of technocratic statism is superior to the other.

Fuck this guy in the ear. Guys like him make me want for team blue to loose on the off chance that the staff of MSNBC will commit ritual suicide or just struck dumb. The schadenfreude of an Obama loss might make the misery of four years of Romney more palatable.

  3. Adam330   13 years ago

Actually, he said "anybody who is watching this show who hasn't voted, or doesn't have plans to vote, is an idiot." Since anyone watching Chris Matthews on MSNBC is an idiot, I think he's right on.

  4. sloopyinca   13 years ago

What the fuck is a "Chris Matthews"?

    1. Archduke Pantsfan   13 years ago

      Rachel Maddow's funny uncle.

      1. Archduke Pantsfan   13 years ago

        meant "less funny"

        1. sloopyinca   13 years ago

Well, you managed to fuck that joke up. Thanks.

          1. Joe M   13 years ago

Well it ended up being less funny at least.

            1. Bobarian   13 years ago

Funny, ha ha, or funny, as in the uncle you never want to leave the kids with?

      2. Killazontherun   13 years ago

The one who made her hate the touch of a man? Well, that make sense now.

    2. Pro Libertate   13 years ago

He's some sort of "former" Democratic aide and staffer who is somehow treated by people as if he's politically neutral.

  5. Bee Tagger   13 years ago

Doesn't he also think voting for one of the major party candidates makes you an idiot? Provided that one is the Republican one.

    1. Sudden   13 years ago

He must maintain the illusion of independence.

  6. Bee Tagger   13 years ago

Doesn't he also think voting for one of the major party candidates makes you an idiot? Provided that one is the Republican one.

  7. Bee Tagger   13 years ago

Doesn't he also think voting for one of the major party candidates makes you an idiot? Provided that one is the Republican one.

    1. sloopyinca   13 years ago

Yes, and he supports multiple posting as well. So you and he are the same.

      1. $park?   13 years ago

He doesn't support them, he just isn't opposed to them.

    2. Restoras   13 years ago

I hope you voted three times today too!

  8. Pro Libertate   13 years ago

Yeah, just doing what you're told, no matter how futile, time and time again, is so fucking smart.

  9. Bee Tagger   13 years ago

Yes, awesome. Look how important I am.

  10. Somalian Road Corporation   13 years ago

One of my favorite Matthews moments was when he claimed that you could just raise taxes and it wouldn't matter because people would just work harder to make up the difference. No biggie.

    1. Killazontherun   13 years ago

Straight out of Galbraith whom even the more lefty economist at my school enjoyed mocking. However, there is quite a bit of that assumption in Obama's rhetoric when he talks about the Bush tax cuts destroying the economy (reducing productivity?) and the solution is to raise taxes (to stimulate growth?). When put that way, it makes all the sense in the world!

  11. Randian   13 years ago

What the fuck is going on with commenting? Jesus, it's 2012, reason, get your shit fixed.

    1. Death Rock and Skull   13 years ago

Logging in all the time. Comments not going through. "You have won our weekly prize!"

      1. Ptah-Hotep   13 years ago

I thought it was just my machine.

      2. sloopyinca   13 years ago

If you check the "keep me logged in" box, it won't happen anymore.

        1. $park?   13 years ago

Sloopy, how can we continue to feel superior to these people if you keep giving away all the secrets?

          1. Sudden   13 years ago

By educating someone on the proper way to perform a simplistic and remedial task, you can then claim credit for every simplistic and remedial task they perform in perpetuity.

            1. $park?   13 years ago

OK, I can accept that. Wait, is this some kind of trap?

              1. Sudden   13 years ago

ALL YOUR THOUGHT AND ACTION BELONG TO US NOW!!!!!1!!111!!!!!1!1!!

            2. Auric Demonocles   13 years ago

That box, you didn't check that.

        2. Ptah-Hotep   13 years ago

I did that. All I say when previewing was a blank box. Now it is working.

          1. Ptah-Hotep   13 years ago

            say = saw

            Fuck!

  12. Joe M   13 years ago

Sorry, this has no impact on me, as I already despise Matthews as much as humanly possible.

    1. Art Vandelay   13 years ago

C'mon, Joe. Crank that hate up to 11. We know you can do it.

  13. A Serious Man   13 years ago

If Obama loses I'm tuning into MSNBC for the lulz. It'll be 100 times worse than their nervous breakdown over Obama's performance in the first debate or their reaction to the Wisconsin recall, like the Hailey's Comet of political hackery.

    1. Ice Nine   13 years ago

      This is a given.

    2. $park?   13 years ago

Are you really willing to watch Sgt Schultz have a rage induced heart explosion on live TV?

      Wait, what am I thinking?

      1. sloopyinca   13 years ago

        Wait, what am I thinking?

Say it in Jar Jar Binks voice.

Ha! I got you all good. You can't unhear it.

    3. Ted S.   13 years ago

Yeah, but what if Obama actually wins? No lulz there.

    4. Skip   13 years ago

Don't forget their pants wetting when Scott Brown won.

  14. db   13 years ago

I don't recognize this Mathews fellow's credentials to judge me. I'm not sure I've ever even heard him speak or seen his picture.

  15. Death Rock and Skull   13 years ago

I am a stronger, more intelligent person for not being concerned about voting for the "winner".

    1. db   13 years ago

      This.

  16. Timrek   13 years ago

Well said Bee Tagger. So well said it resonated in my head three times.

Chris Mathews rocks! Without him MSNBC would be like watching a real news station. No wait their other people suck too. I take that back...He's worthless.

  17. Archduke Pantsfan   13 years ago

Maybe I get MSNBC on my cable machine, I don't know. Frankly, I don't want to know. It's a channel I can do without.

  18. Warty   13 years ago

Anyone want to vomit some more? Here. Enjoy.

    1. Randian   13 years ago

omg I loled. hard. I hope that guy kills himself.

      1. Clich? Bandit   13 years ago

        fucking W O W !

        "Danger Will Robinson!"
        "Faith in humanity fading!"

      2. A Serious Man   13 years ago

        He might if O loses.

        1. Randian   13 years ago

Yet another reason to pull for ROMNIAC then.

      3. Drake   13 years ago

I'm willing to assist that suicide.

    2. Episiarch   13 years ago

Does "Sam" stand for "Stupid-ass Moron"?

      1. Randian   13 years ago

And the whole rest of the thread lines up to say how they too cried for Obama. What would I do if I met one of these people face to face? I am pretty well liked as a 'nice guy', but I would seriously laugh in their faces...and then laugh again when they cried.

        1. Episiarch   13 years ago

Laughter would just be the beginning.

        2. Warty   13 years ago

The only thing more fun than punching someone weaker than yourself is punching someone weaker than yourself who's crying.

          1. Episiarch   13 years ago

"I'll give you something to cry about!"

          2. JEP   13 years ago

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to make that man cry.

    3. sarcasmic   13 years ago

Time elapsed from when I entered the door until I left: 40 minutes.

Another thing I like about living in a small town. I don't anticipate my stop at the Town Hall on the way home lasting more than five minutes.

      1. db   13 years ago

I walked into the polling place at 0718 and left after voting at 0736.

        1. db   13 years ago

It only took that long because a woman wasn't on the voting list (even though her husband, who was there with her) was. The election folks had to call their HQ and verify her registration so she could cast a provisional ballot.

      2. Joe M   13 years ago

Why do I keep hearing these ridiculously long reports of waits at the polling locations? An early voter friend waited three hours. Welch said he waited two hours this morning. My brother early voted and had to wait an hour. WTF? I've never had to wait more than maybe ten minutes, and I live in a suburb. Of course, I used to work nights so I could go at 11am when no one was there, but still. Hoping to get in and out quickly around 5pm today.

        1. Episiarch   13 years ago

It's hilarious that people are wasting that much of their time to do something which is mathematically meaningless. I guess their time is worth even less. Let's hear it for the statistically challenged!

          1. Will Nonya   13 years ago

            meaningless how?

is standing in line to be counted with the rest of the status quo groups more meaningful than a vote for none of the above?

            1. Joe M   13 years ago

To be fair, voting for none of the above takes 0 seconds.

          2. sarcasmic   13 years ago

Know what's really meaningless? Being an anarchist.

Nothing is more meaningless than anarchists.

            1. nicole   13 years ago

No, nothing is more meaningless than nihilist anarchists. I win!

            2. $park?   13 years ago

No, nothing is more meaningless than nihilist anarchists. I win!

            3. MJGreen   13 years ago

Yeah, but it doesn't require any time or effort.

            4. Killazontherun   13 years ago

Without the state, you remain undefined? Prove it!

      3. Ted S.   13 years ago

I walked 3/4 mile to my polling place, voted (there was actually a brief line!*) and walked home all in right about 40 minutes.

*At the town hall there are four seats with blinds to fill our your ballot. When I got there there were actually people filling out ballots at all four seats.

    4. General Butt Naked   13 years ago

      Jesus.

Fuck, man. I'd off myself it that were me.

      Dang...

    5. Tman   13 years ago

Can you imagine how hard this guy cried when he found out Olberman was getting dumped by MSNBC?

      Salty ham tears abound.

    6. Scruffy Nerfherder   13 years ago

      Hoooooly crap.

Even if the original poster was a troll, the comments can't all be.

I paused. I thought of all we've been through for 4 years. I looked at the other names, including Romney. Choked up a bit and filled in the box for Obama. I took a picture of it on my ipod. I think I'll post it on my facebook later. I'm fired up and ready to go!

So perhaps this why we cry. We cry from relief that ride is over, we cry from joy at thinking we will achieve the outcome in this election we most desperately want, and we cry from sadness growing from the knowledge this is his last term.

      1. rts   13 years ago

I took a picture of it on my ipod. I think I'll post it on my facebook later.

That might be illegal depending on state

      2. MJGreen   13 years ago

Wouldn't you choke up? This is an historic day. The day when we can reelect Barack Obama. No one thought this would be possible 50 years ago.

    7. sloopyinca   13 years ago

Fuck you, Warty, for bring that to my attention. I'm gonna take a shower for the third time today.

      1. Joe M   13 years ago

I'm guessing one of the others was after you put your finger in it?

    8. Raven Nation   13 years ago

Good grief. It reads like a "What I Did on my Summer Vacation" paper by a high schooler.

    9. $park?   13 years ago

You know Warty, I never hated you just because Epi told me to. But that was the last straw. I'm never talking to you again.

      1. Episiarch   13 years ago

Now you see that I was right. I'm always right!

        1. $park?   13 years ago

Tell Warty that he can't trick me into talking to him.

          1. Warty   13 years ago

Tell Sparky that his mom's fucking hot.

      2. Warty   13 years ago

Did you ever talk to me before?

      3. Sudden   13 years ago

Sparky, here's the thing. Epi only tells people to hate Warty so that people do not steal Warty from him.

However, this strategy repeatedly backfires. There is nothing the Warty likes quite so much as a hate fuck.

    10. Scruffy Nerfherder   13 years ago

Damn you Warty. I almost choked on my sammich when I read this one:

voted in maryland this morning. no wait at all. been crying since. There is something very emotional this time around. Basically just wanting to shut up all the asswholes out there that have been hurting me everytime they lie on my president. Didn't realize or admit until now how much their shit has been hurting me inside. I can't wait until they declare Obama the winner. Then I'm gonna cry again. Right now I'm on my way to get a nice bottle of wine. I'm not going to work tomorrow. (emphasis added)

      1. jester   13 years ago

Which applies to the horrible grief perpetrated upon this true heart? Hate crime? Internet bullying?
Why shouldn't he/she/he/she/she?/he? Get permanent disability?
        It was traumatic.

      2. Anonymous Coward   13 years ago

Basically just wanting to shut up all the asswholes out there that have been hurting me everytime they lie on my president. Didn't realize or admit until now how much their shit has been hurting me inside.

This is cure for hurt feelings. YOLO!

    11. FD   13 years ago

It puzzles me when folks wonder how the murdering, bigoted, evil tyrants were ever tolerated -- nay, elevated.
But then I see articles such as this. And I see how the slippery slope is embraced -- happy slaves rejoicing when they look upwards at someone else who is certainly more valuable to the human race than they or their own children are.

    12. Atlas Stoned   13 years ago

If these mindless fucks had their way Obama would be our Dear Leader for life. That is seriously hero worship gone full retard.

      1. Archduke Pantsfan   13 years ago

I'm sure someone somewhere is drafting a repeal of the 20th amendement.

        1. Andrew S.   13 years ago

Assuming you mean 22nd, not 20th. Been tried many times. I think Harry Reid already tried it during Obama's term in office.

          1. Scruffy Nerfherder   13 years ago

            Rep Jose Serrano

            Sen Harry Reid

    13. MJGreen   13 years ago

I cried with pride for the privilege of casting my vote for a great President, Barack Obama. I knew when I saw his name this would be the last time I would have that privilege.

      Check your privilege, bro!!

Really, this guy is crying because he won't be able to vote for Obama one more time? Of course, if he loses, Obama could always run in 2016, or 2020. So, really, it's win-win, guy.

      1. MJGreen   13 years ago

Oh, "Samantha." Well... still betting it's a guy.

  19. Tman   13 years ago

So whose salty ham tears will be the most delicious?

Matthews is a decent argument, dude will need rehydration due to the spittle loss as the night wears on.

Daily Kos? That will be ok, but they are almost irrelevant this year.

Andy Sullivan? That dude is cocoa for cocoa puffs these days so I'm not sure it will be that great.

Soledad O'Brien? Please oh please let her have to interview Sununu again if Obama loses, that will be delicious.

    Mike Brysenzki? Meh.

I'll have to go with Axelrod. Watching his stupid face recede in to the background where it belongs will bring me great joy.

    1. Jena   13 years ago

      The Plouffe.

    2. MJGreen   13 years ago

I think Axelrod will walk into the street and never be seen again. He will wind up in Spain under a new name.

  20. Scruffy Nerfherder   13 years ago

Chris is off his meds again.

  21. Episiarch   13 years ago

Well, I'm convinced. That Matthews is a blithering idiot.

    1. Pro Libertate   13 years ago

Isn't he the guy who got a tingly leg or an erection or both when Obama won? Strange what passes for journalism these days.

      1. T o n y   13 years ago

        He's a pundit, not a journalist.

        1. Randian   13 years ago

You're actually Chris Matthews, aren't you?

          1. Episiarch   13 years ago

            DON'T RESPOND TO IT.

            1. Pro Libertate   13 years ago

              Oops.

            2. Warty   13 years ago

              BLOG POLICE!!!!

              1. Episiarch   13 years ago

                You substance-less jerk!

                1. Randian   13 years ago

Axis Of Glib, clean up on Aisle 2...

              2. jester   13 years ago

The blog police? They live inside your head.

        2. Pro Libertate   13 years ago

He's a shill. Why is that worth anything?

        3. Will Nonya   13 years ago

Is there still a difference? If so I doubt most Americans could tell anymore.

We still have a free press it's just disheartening what it has chosen to do with that freedom.

          1. Art Vandelay   13 years ago

Journalists aren't free unless they're free to get raging boners over a politician.

          2. T o n y   13 years ago

Yes, there are plenty of real reporters out there whose job and motivation is to uncover facts.

The problem is half the political universe now finds facts optional, especially if they don't like them.

            1. Calidissident   13 years ago

              Half?

        4. Sudden   13 years ago

Don't tell him that. He still believes himself to be a journalist who asks the hard questions.

  22. Will Nonya   13 years ago

No doubt Matthews is an idiot but he is still slightly more stable than Maddow...

Why not vote for one of the major parties though, it's what all the col kids are doing and it gives you a 50-50 shot of being on the "winning" side...

It's this sort of "make your vote count" logic, restrictive ballot access laws and small parties fundamental inability to organize that keep us locked into the two party disaster, er system.

    1. T o n y   13 years ago

Have you ever watched Rachel Maddow in your life?

Nobody who has ever watched both their shows would claim that Maddow was less stable than Matthews.

In fact I had a Republican friend watch Maddow for the first time, and he came away completely confused and amazed. "She has all these facts and shit!"

      1. nicole   13 years ago

Maddow is definitely more stable than Matthews. But it doesn't really have to do with how many facts she has. She usually has plenty. But she does get too excited about them to seem completely stable. She tries to convey all this urgency through body language and "duh" statements and sort of slow, loud talking. Sort of like Jezebel on TV, even though there have been lots of times I've agreed with her or thought she was reporting on neglected issues.

Is it too late to vote for Newt's moon colony?

    1. Pro Libertate   13 years ago

It would beat what we're going to get. At least we'd have something to show for our money.

Say it in Jar Jar Binks voice.

What the fuck is a Jar Jar Binks?

    1. A Serious Man   13 years ago

I took a shit in a jar jar binks once.

I am proud to be an idiot who voted for Gary Johnson this morning.

"What'd'ya mean I couldn't be the President of the United States of America?"

Sorry, Dave. Also, its amazing how much less heavy this sounds than it did when it came out.

  28. jester   13 years ago

He's a liar. He doesn't believe in boycotts? (yes, I know, the word 'boy' is contained in there; very likely to confuse)

  29. The Late P Brooks   13 years ago

I just want to see Chris Matthews slit his wrists on live teevee.

Is that too much to ask, Santa?

    1. Will Nonya   13 years ago

I'd pay a dollar to see that. A horribly devalued fiat dollar but still...

  30. Timrek   13 years ago

Hey, Guys and Gals. Since Matthews is such an easy target, let's put this thread to good use!

2012 RACE PREDICTIONS RESULTS...You be the Pundit!

At Foxnews.com they have "YouDecide Race Predictor" (I know it sounds RACIST...it's FOXNews after all). Give each candidate the states you think they will win and get the results. Who ever wins gets to make up the next Reason Drinking Game and a photo of Nick Gillespie autographed by The Jacket! (In the event of multiple winners one will be selected by the server squirrels.)

My prediction...Romney win with 306 Electoral Votes after taking VA, NC, CO, IA, FL, OH, AZ, and PA but he loses WI, NH and NV.

What do the rest of you think?

    1. rac3rx   13 years ago

I think Obama will probably take PA. My predictor came up Romney with 300.

  31. dj kumquat   13 years ago

    matthews: career drunk!

  32. Mesteve   13 years ago

"Chris Matthews, you're an idiot." I stopped reading after that.

  33. Oso Politico   13 years ago

Just a few days ago he called me a pig for being an AGW skeptic, and now I guess I am an idiot pig. What will it be next week - a fucking idiot pig?

BTW: At the end of the video clip I thought he was going to flip us the bird, but he disappoints...

    1. Sudden   13 years ago

      Ratfucking idiot pig, no doubt.

  34. Gilbert Martin   13 years ago

Chris Matthews certainly has plenty of on the job experience with idiocy.

  35. Scotch Man   13 years ago

Well now that Softball called me an idiot I'm definitely voting third party.

  36. Jena   13 years ago

    "You get two choices!" Matthews

Yeah, nothing more than a binary choice is ever possible.

  37. Mike Laursen   13 years ago

    "Fourth-party"?

  38. Mike Laursen   13 years ago

    "Fourth-party"?

  39. Mike Laursen   13 years ago

    "Fourth party"?

  40. Skip   13 years ago

"Lean Forward" is just a polite way of saying "Bend Over".

  41. jdgalt   13 years ago

I'll go with the George Carlin theory: You're an idiot if you vote for Tweedledum, but you're a maniac if you vote for Tweedledee.
