Study: Fallujah Population "Highest Rate of Genetic Damage" Ever Studied
Four new studies point to a health crisis in the Iraqi city
Four new studies on the health crisis in Fallujah have been published in the last three months. Yet, one of the most severe public health crises in history, for which the US military may be to blame, receives no attention in the United States.
Ever since two major US-led assaults destroyed the Iraqi city of Fallujah in 2004, Fallujans have witnessed dramatic increases in rates of cancers, birth defects and infant mortality in their city.
Dr Chris Busby, the author and co-author of two studies on the Fallujah heath crisis, has called this "the highest rate of genetic damage in any population ever studied".

Really? Higher than Hiroshima? It would not surprise me if it was due to US attacks, possibly depleted uranium? But it also would not surprise me if it was hyped research, comparing apples and oranges and only the largest due to newer techniques, much as it looks like there are more hurricanes because we have extensive satellite coverage. I will have to read the studies myself before I decide.
In theory depleted Uranium has little radiation but it is a heavy metal. Also the fact that this is a 3rd world city that lived under Saddam with his chemical stockpiles and with poor nutrition could also play a role.
