Brickbat: Unbroken Window

It was a warm day, so Tara Ludvigson left the windows down on her vehicle when she parked it outside her Nanaimo, Canada, workplace. Later that day, a mountie came in and handed her an $81 ticket for leaving the car "unsecured." After she complained, the officer reduced the ticket to a warning.

Virginia passed a law having to do with using a firearm in a drug crime. Everybody thinks drug-related killings and robberies, right? First use was on a guy who was lured into trading a gun for drugs.

The car wants to look good while it's sitting there. Leaving the windows up means risking a ticket for leaving a car "insecure."

It is the job of the police to protect individuals from higher insurance premiums by fining them.

It's not a fine, it's penalty. Or arguably, a stupidity tax. Hence, it's penaltax.

This stuff is just awful. I hear radio ads the gist of which is that if you don't lock your car *every* time you leave it, then you're just *asking* for it to be stolen. But can I booby trap that clunker? ***John Belushi voice*** NOOOOO!!

I never lock my car and I usually leave the windows open in the summer. If someone wants to steal some of the garbage I keep in there, they can have at it. I'd much rather that than have someone break the window.
