For the beleaguered anti-war voter, the temptation is always to throw out the trigger puller in chief, in the hope that a new presidential administration will take a less meddlesome and costly approach to foreign affairs. But in 2012, writes Editor in Chief Matt Welch, despite the rise of a small but growing band of intervention skeptics within the national GOP, the Republican Party has openly campaigned on restoring, not pruning, America's primary role in world affairs. No matter who wins in November, Welch observes, America will remain overstretched overseas.
