Neil Armstrong Dead at 82
First man to walk on the moon.
Neil Armstrong, the Apollo 11 astronaut who became the first human being to set foot on another world, has died. He was 82.
In a statement his family said Armstrong had passed away following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures.
The family described him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and also as "a reluctant American hero who always believed he was just doing his job."

My biggest hero growing up. Met him once when he gave a talk at University of Richmond, along with Gene Cernan, the last man on the moon. Both were very kind to a man who, because of Mercury, Gemini and Apollo, learned to count down before counting up.
The Mercury program and Dr. George Fischbeck are the two reasons that I am an engineer today.
Fair winds and following seas, Neil.

...When astronauts were heros to a nation...
Astronauts explore a part of our existence most of us never will. Armstrong landed on the moon and was a symbol of what mankind can achieve.
Hopefully this push towards discovery continues.
Wasn't he against the for-profit space industry?
He was a legend and just died one day before, he is not just an American but an world hero.
