Assad Would Welcome Talks With Rebels, Claims Ambassador
Syria's ambassador to Iran has said that Assad would be willing to talk with the rebels under his own supervision.
(Reuters) - Syria's government would welcome dialogue with opposition parties in order to bring an end to armed conflict, Syria's ambassador to Tehran was quoted as saying on Monday by Iranian media.
"The government of (President) Bashar al-Assad welcomes logical discussions with opposition parties in Syria," said Hamed Hassan, according to Iran's state news agency IRNA.
