Anaheim Holding Special Meeting Over Voting System
City faces lawsuit claiming council election system gives Latinos little representation.
The City Council has called a special meeting for 1 p.m. Thursday to discuss "vital city issues," Anaheim officials said Wednesday.
The five council members will meet in closed session at City Hall, but prior to the meeting they will take public comments on the three agenda items they will later discuss privately.
The agenda includes a discussion on the lawsuit filed in June calling for Anaheim to change its voting system for electing council members by districts rather than at-large. Many Latinos in the community have said such a change would ensure better representation.
