Brickbat: OK, You Can Start Now
Parents of students at England's Gartocham Primary School were excited to learn that Alan Bell, the chief starter of the London Olympics, would be firing his starter's pistol for races at the school's annual sports day. Local health and safety officials were not excited. They banned Bell from firing the pistol, saying it could frighten the children.

Good to see some American style stupidity is creeping across the pond.
Maybe he should switch to a Longbow. They're more English, and they don't make too much noise.
It is more likely creeping the other direction. The stupid there is 100X what it is here.
I mean on the socialism/statist front, yes. But on the 'oh god they're killing our children' front, they've got a lot of catching up to do.
Actually, my observation is that almost every shitty (and most of the good ones too) idea in the world originated in the USA.
In the past Americans have had the good sense to not adopt the harebrained schemes their compatriots dream up but nowadays that doesn't seem to be the case.
On the other hand other countries seem to adopt harebrained American ideas with a vengeance even while voicing the most virulent anti-Americanism.
but.... OMG BATH SALTS!
Fortunately it doesn't shoot advil or they'd have to ban it twice.
This is what American leftists would like us to be.
Seems pretty reasonable to me dude. Wow.

Perhaps he can just shout "BOO!" so the children don't get scared.
OK, but do it while dry firing the pistol so the kids don't miss out on the experience.
As England's Gartocham Primary School goes, so goes the world.
