Psychological projection or projection bias is a psychological defense mechanism where a person subconsciously denies his or her own attributes, thoughts, and emotions, which are then ascribed to the outside world, usually to other people.

That is the point of the stickers I think. They are RACIST. But I am not convinced they are real or if they are anyone actually is putting them on their cars.

        1. Aren't Niggers Aggressors?   13 years ago

In short; RACIALIST SCIENCE is properly not an act of aggression or a cover for oppression of one group over another, but, on the contrary, an operation in defense of private property against assaults by aggressors.

          ~Murray Rothbard

Murray Rothbard (1926-1995) was the dean of the Austrian School of economics and the founder of libertarianism.

              3. KPres   13 years ago

                Uh, no.

Rothbard was saying that Socialists/Social Democrats would claim that racial income disparities in a free market were the result of some kind of intrinsic discrimination within capitalism, and that when those arguments were made, it would be useful and proper for defenders of capitalism to point out that the reality of the IQ gap (what he means by 'racialist science') is the far more likely cause. The reason why it's useful is because it's true. The reason why it's proper is because racial arguments against capitalism are false and opportunistic.

                  My meter is pegged, dude.

                  1. KPres   13 years ago

Uh, no. "Protecting" him with reading comprehension. That's exactly what he was talking about. The socialists are the racial opportunists (like Lyndon Johnson), who use racial animosity to advance the aims of totalitarian socialism, even though they have no concern for, and sometimes downright antagonism toward (Sanger), the well-being of those ethnic groups.

Rothbard says we should use science to dispute their claims.

That shouldn't bother you, though, since you're not a Socialist, right? Plus you hate all those anti-science fundamentalists, right?

                    1. KPres   13 years ago

                      Here's the whole quote...

"If and when we as populists and libertarians abolish the welfare state in all of its aspects, and property rights and the free market shall be triumphant once more, many individuals and groups will predictably not like the end result. In that case, those ethnic and other groups who might be concentrated in lower-income or less prestigious occupations, guided by their socialistic mentors, will predictably raise the cry that free-market capitalism is evil and "discriminatory" and that therefore collectivism is needed to redress the balance. In that case, the intelligence argument will become useful to defend the market economy and the free society from ignorant or self-serving attacks...

                      (continued...)

                    2. KPres   13 years ago

                      (...from previous...)

In short; racialist science is properly not an act of aggression or a cover for oppression of one group over another, but, on the contrary, an operation in defense of private property against assaults by aggressors."

He's clearly saying that racist Socialists will use racial resentment to advance their cause, so Libertarians should use science to rebut those arguments.

We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro

  13. db   13 years ago

Let's review the situation with regard to trolling:

    1. Trolls take up space.
    a. Trolls take up more space when people respond to them.

    2. People have demonstrated the inability to refrain from responding to trolls.

    3. Some people appeal to the reason management to implement policy to prevent trolls.
    a. Reason management is apparently not concerned with any but the most libelous and/or distracting trolls.
    c. As any good libertarian should know, appealing to authority is likely to get you either nothing or too much.

    3. Reason derives some revenue from this site, which is presumably proportional to traffic.
    a. Some might suggest "going Galt" (denying reason traffic and trolls attention as a response to an untenable social situation). "Going Galt" is particularly susceptible to the "Prisoner's dilemma".

    1. db   13 years ago

Perhaps there is no solution to the problem other than increased centralized control by authority figures, but I would hope that a commentariat called "reason" could come up with something better.

The Cartoonist is the real troll, trolling about Obama, gas prices, and global warming.

So what we have here is an inability by the right-wing KOCH-funded trolls to deal with some witty "White Injun" who used to be a right-wing KOCH-funded troll.

What we have here is Insider Traitoring.

      LOL

Anyway, Going Galt is fine with me. It's the anarcho-primitivist in Ayn Rand being revealed, and anybody who hasn't been thoroughly domesticated by the agricultural city-State has some of that in them.

      1. Ben Franklin on White Indians   13 years ago

When an Indian Child has been brought up among us, taught our language and habituated to our Customs, yet if he goes to see his relations and make one Indian Ramble with them, there is no perswading him ever to return, and that this is not natural to them merely as Indians, but as men, is plain from this, that when white persons of either sex have been taken prisoners young by the Indians, and lived a while among them, tho' ransomed by their Friends, and treated with all imaginable tenderness to prevail with them to stay among the English, yet in a Short time they become disgusted with our manner of life, and the care and pains that are necessary to support it, and take the first good Opportunity of escaping again into the Woods, from whence there is no reclaiming them.

          (con't)

One instance I remember to have heard, where the person was brought home to possess a good Estate; but finding some care necessary to keep it together, he relinquished it to a younger Brother, reserving to himself nothing but a gun and a match-Coat, with which he took his way again to the Wilderness.

White Indian isn't a troll, he's an activist. What he's hoping is that lurkers on the site will see his misquoted Rothbard/Rand and be turned off from Libertarianism. He's going to post whether you feed him or not. What you have to do is rebut him, which is easy, but people are generally too lazy because his Anarcho-Primitivist POV is irrelevant. Of course, he knows it's irrelevant as well, but that doesn't matter, because the at the core of it, he's on TEAM SOCIALIST, so he's willing to attack capitalism from whatever angle.
