Kennedy on Why Atheism Is a Religion
In a recent appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher, former MTV VJ and current LA radio host Kennedy declared, "atheism is a religion." In response to that comment, she has been called names and insulted in ways not heard since the first Clinton administration, when leading scientists still believed the Internet was created by Al Gore in only seven days. So like the Buddha seeking truth, Kennedy left the hostile waters of social networking in search of a fresh perspective. Along the way she met a scientist whose research focuses on the intersection between biology and the divine, uber-atheist and diehard libertarian Penn Jillette, and the widow of Frank Zappa, the legendary musician who also founded the Church of American Secular Humanism. Is atheism really a religion after all?
