Note to libertarians:
It was the bullying that caused the incident. Not the easy access to guns.
Re: Paul,
Note to authoritarian assholes:
People are NOT robots. End of discussion.

It was the *shooter* who shot the other kids.
"Bullied Outcast" translation from PC to English: Insufferable jackass who thinks they have a right to be heard. See also: Fairness Doctrine.
Ah, God. There's a guy who does 2 days a week radio broadcast from the office down from mine, who I can hear perfectly through the walls. Standard conservative god'n'gays stuff. I just heard him wondering whether there was a "how should I say this, 'cultural' aspect to this shooting". I swear I heard a dog whistle.
I don't care if they "bullied outcast" is gay or not, the little dork doesn't have the right to go around shooting people.
I think the implication was that he was from inner-city Cleveland and therefore not white. And I agree. It doesn't fucking matter what his problem was.
What a dipshit. Chardon is 30 miles and one universe away from the near east side (or E. Cleveland, which is truly horrifying).
I don't care if they "bullied outcast" is gay or not, the little dork doesn't have the right to go around shooting people.
Something something externalities something prevention.
Grow a pair and quit being a sensitive dunce is what the kid should have done. In what fucking universe is being bullied or a social outcast any sort of justification at all for attacking people?
It depends on the kind of bullying we're talking about.
If we're talking about the modern touchy-feely kind of "bullying" - having other people say bad things about you, or not include you socially - then, sure, attacking people as a result is ridiculous.
But if we're talking about genuine bullying involving physical harassment, threats, and fights, then I think that's different. In that case, there's already violence happening - the losing kid just decides to win for a change.
Of course. If, say, some fuckheads decided to use him as a punching bag in the bathroom at recess, he'd be completely justified in responding with an attack of his own. No questions there.
Ender's law.
Sticks and stones,
May break my bones,
But words,
Will get your ass capped.
"the little dork doesn't have the right to go around shooting people"
John Tagliaferro, we won't tolerate that kind of hate around here.
Buffett is correct - as always. The OWS idiots hate him for his money and the GOP wingnecks hate him for his logic and rationale. Since I like rational capitalists I like WB. That makes us "socialists" to the idiots on the right.
You like people who get rich taking advantage of the tax code and then ask for said tax code to change further to benefit him? Really?
Truthfully, I can think of few things more 'capitalist' than buying family businesses at a discount because the heirs can't pay the inheritance taxes. Buffet is a regular fucking Mother Theresa.
You are truly a moron. Buffett gat rich buying companies - he didn't inherit his fortune.
The Kochs inherited their wealth from Fred Koch and now support the GOP exclusively. You are projecting again.
The need to know where people get their money is tyranny.
He's not talking about Buffett inheriting the money.
1) John wasn't saying Buffet inherited his money, the poeple he bought the businesses from were the ones who couldn't pay the inheritance tax. Reading comprehension...
2) Who the fuck said anything about the Koch's until you brought them up? Way to change the subject asswipe.
What stupid shit. Buffett got rich buying from families who couldn't afford estate taxes?
I guess Bill Gates, Brin, Ellison, Page, Soros -- all the top capitalists gamed the system too?
Idiot.
Those other guys earned their money through different methods. The gist of John's argument was that Buffett gamed the system a particular way, and he wants to change the rules to game the system even more.
Before you fly off the handle, and reply to these comments, make sure you have a good understanding of the point you are trying to refute. One common technique is to take a breath, and re-read your comment before hitting the "submit" button.
I guess Bill Gates, Brin, Ellison, Page, Soros -- all the top capitalists gamed the system too? am an Idiot.
"The Kochs inherited their wealth from Fred Koch"
Well, Fred Koch was a staunch libertarian. And don't the the Koch brothers give a lot of money to the ACLU and other civil liberties organizations? Didn't they strenuously oppose the Iraq war?
Doesn't sound like "exclusive" Republican territory to me, dumbfuck.
"You are truly a moron. Buffett gat rich buying companies - he didn't inherit his fortune."
LOL, you're a true dumbass. If he was such a "rational capitalist" he'd know that nothing disincentivizes the development of long-term capital goods than inheritance taxes.
"his logic and rationale"
lol wut?

In 1950, at the age of 20, Buffett had made and saved $9,800. In April 1952, Buffett discovered Graham was on the board of GEICO insurance. Taking a train to Washington, D.C. on a Saturday, he knocked on the door of GEICO's headquarters until a janitor allowed him in. There he met Lorimer Davidson, Geico's Vice President, and the two discussed the insurance business for hours (Wiki)
Another idiot.
The redneck right/GOP has nothing. Get used to it.
No one is saying Buffet shouldn't have the right to make a buck-- or care what he does with it once he makes it. It's Buffet's desire to tell other people what to do with theirs that sticks in our craw.
Buffet's big winning product was life insurance policies sold to the rich for the purpose of escaping estate taxes.
Therefore, in the absence of confiscatory estate tax policies, Buffet wouldn't have had a product.
And it is a legitimate market. Buffett did not create confiscatory estate taxes just as Henry Ford did not create a gasoline sales tax.
Buffet's was one of the loudest voices raised in opposition when Congress debated eliminating the estate tax a few years ago.
He's entitled to his opinion but people should be aware of one of the possible foundations for that opinion.
Of course, since Buffett favors a meritocracy and not wealth based on familial lines.
Very rational (again) on his part.
Of course, since Buffett favors a meritocracy and not wealth based on familial lines.
Yeah, because fuck working and saving so you have something to leave for your children after you're gone, without Uncle Sugar taking a huge bite out of it.
Only losers want to leave their family in a strong financial position after they're gone!
I'm going to leave as much of my estate as I can to my kid as cash.
Yalls first big mistake was assuming shrike would argue against anything other than a straw man.
Yalls second big mistake was responding.
Shriek, I think you and I have a completely different notion of what a meritocracy is.
Yes, just about any statement from Warren Buffet in favor of raising estate taxes needs to come with a disclaimer about how he profits from their existence.
Same thing goes for Bill Gates Sr.
That was then, this is now. 1952? Really?
See also, "Rent Seeking, Currently". Get used to it.
You aren't socialist, you're just retarded. Buffet is not a rational capitalist. A rational rent-seeker maybe, but not a capitalist.
shrike is a class warrior with a small-penis syndrome.
Thank you, shrike. It's support from the little people like you that means the most to me.
Now while you're down there, don't be shy about using a little tongue. That's it, baby. Get it in there nice and deep. Yeah...
I call sloppy seconds!
Don't worry, I'll get to you next!
Wow, shrike, I've got to say, I've seen you pwned around here, but in this thread you got quickly, neatly, totally pwned. Gotta up your game or give it up, girl.
Should boys get vaccinated for HPV?
Sounds like a question for Warty.
Thread winner. Everybody go home.
Huzzah!
*waves tiny American flags vociferously*
vociferously? That's an interesting adverb for flag waving. Are you Canadian?
CANADIA FUCK YEAH
I am Gladiator.
Vociforus Gladius Maximus.
"Dr. Warty is in. In you, that is."
I once read that pretty much every non-virgin has HPV. So relax and enjoy your warts.
Just think of them as speed bumps.
Filipino dudes cut their dicks open and put little plastic balls inside. They're supposed to rub against the g-spot or something, I guess. It seems to me that a sufficiently advanced case of HPV does that for you without any needles.
I don't like anything you just said there.
I don't like anything you just said there.
Yet you still lol'd. Admit it.
Dick slicing? G-spot hunting? No. Nothing good results from either of those things.
If you've got your finger in her pussy, purportedly to find her G-spot, something good can cum from that.
I purposely reworded my comment so you bastards didn't have the phrase "comes from" to work with and you took it anyway.
Well, you would be the one to know. Also, tell us how the hemorrhoids work for you.
Sufficiently advanced hemorrhoids act as tentacles, you know. Japanese girls go nuts for them.
*RAPEGASM*
And by "Filipino dudes", you mean "me and the guys", of course?
Filipino dudes cut their dicks open and put little plastic balls inside.
My dad's last job before he retired from the Navy was as the CO of all the ship-repair facilities on the eastern seaboard, including the one at Gitmo. He got an email one day from the commander of the Gitmo facility reporting that some sailor had come to machine shop asking for a specially built ball bearing made from some specific surgical-grade stainless steel. He'd made up some BS story about what it was for. The machine shop thought it sounded fishy, so they called the kid's command, and he admitted under questioning that he was going to implant it in the head of his dick.
My thinking is, if you can't figure out how to induce sexual pleasure without mutilating yourself, then you probably shouldn't be taking the chance that you might procreate.
CIRCUMCISION THREAD NAO
Circumcision is only necessary for religious or homosexual purposes (to prevent disease from santorum build-up).
Homosexuality is a disease, Jimbo. You of all people should know, since I injected that syringe of gay in your ass all those years ago.
Christ, you're one sick SOB. I'm calling the Santorum campaign on your ass.
Yes but has it been weaponized yet?
You of all people should know, since I injected that syringe of gay in your ass all those years ago.
Did this "syringe" have any numbers on it?
Did this "syringe" have any numbers on it?

Did this "syringe" have any numbers on it?
No, just a lot of irregularly shaped bumps.
Circumcision is only necessary for religious or homosexual purposes (to prevent disease from santorum build-up).
But don't those things just slide back, allowing easy access for cleaning?
Yep, just like the slide-action on a weapon. I use CLP to keep carbon build-up out of my penis - also works on santorum crusting.
I use CLP to keep carbon build-up out of my penis - also works on santorum crusting.
How about a wire bore brush to really give that urethra a deep and thorough cleaning? A 7.62 should work perfectly!
I do prefer to use a bronze bore brush for sounding, now that you mention it.
I hates me some Buffet, but for once he said something I agree with.
It's absurd to talk about people who took cashout refinances as victims of the banks.
They got money. The banks got a depreciating asset whose value has now collapsed. They won.
Why do you hate Buffett? You're one of the few rational posters here.
I can't speak for Fluffy, but the only reasons I hate him is because he deigns to tell the government how they should treat the rest of us and because he uses lies and bullshit rhetoric to get his way.
(Avoiding taxes for years and actively fighting paying them while simultaneously complaining that you pay less than your secretary is completely fucking dishonest. It's even more dishonest when you hold said 6 figure salary secretary up as some paragon of middle class people.)
because he uses lies and bullshit rhetoric to get his way.
Just like me, only smarter and more successful! That's why he's my hero.
So, shrike... why is it okay for Buffett to bend public policy, but not the Koch brothers?
They're all wealthy, and they get involved in politics.
Supposedly, wealthy people who try to influence government, is a *bad* thing. So, why do liberals like you look the other way when it comes to Buffett and his twin cousin Soros?
Oh, I know the answer... but it's bullshit, so don't bother.
I think it's absurd to say homeowners' victimized the banks, any more than the winners at a casino victimized the house. The risk of default is all in the game, yo. If banks can't (or didn't) price their risk correctly, too bad.
That was my thought.
Why cant we blame everyone? That is what I have been doing.
Warren Buffett's secretary shouldn't get kicked in the shin more than he does.
There are reports that Democrats are mounting a campaign in Michigan to get people to cross over and vote in the open Republican primary to cause problems. The goal seems to be to hurt Romney; so dems are being encouraged to vote for either Paul or Santorum (depending upon who is doing the encouraging).
My mom, bless her Democrat soul, is planning to vote Gingrich, just for this reason.
Can't blame her. We need to protect ourselves from these radicals threatening our democracy!
http://www.dailykos.com/story/.....n-Michigan
Santorum is the best choice, since he's running neck and neck with Romney. The goal isn't neccessarily to help Santorum get the nomination, but merely to drag out the contest a bit. Open primaries invite this sort of meddling.
Plus, as a Democrat myself, I find it hilarious (hence the Daily Kos name for it: Operation Hilarity).
Dragging out the contest hurts Obama. It gives the GOP free news thru June.
Stupidest strategy ever.
It'll be like Woodstock. Everybody will brag to their friends about how they did it; few actually will.
This one everything. Naked dude, tweaking his balls off, asks for job at welding shop (failure to show up in suitably safe attire is usually a way not to get a job), pics of cops scuffling with him in MMF 3some. Awesome. Only missing a tasing.
Damn, got so excited I accidentally the verb.
Naked welding? What is that guy thinking.
What is that guy thinking.
He was on meth, so not much.
Probably thinking he should have just stitched the steel balls under the skin of his unit instead of welding them in place.
I'll admit that I wouldn't be wrestling with a naked methhead while also eating my hamburger.
This would never happen if meth was illegal.
A JOB IS A RIGHT!
A NAKED JOB IS A RIGHT!
Was that from parks and rec?
The bystander helping out while eating his burger was a nice touch.
See, we need open borders because that way we get folks like Jose Ayala, doing jobs Americans won't do and benefiting the community in many, many ways.
Hasn't Paul made a deal?
The Irish green shall again be seen
As our Irish fathers bore it,
A burning wind from the South behind,
and the Yankee rout before it.
O'Neil's red hand shall purge the land,
Rain a fire on men and cattle,
'Till the Lincoln snakes in their own cold lakes
Plunge from the blaze of battle.
Re: rather,
With whom and for what?
Should boys get vaccinated for HPV? The American Academy of Pediatrics says yes.
FWIW, an old friend of mine was recently treated for cancer in his throat, that according to his oncologist, was caused by HPV, from which he became infected from eating at the Y.
When he told me about that, I thought he was making it up, but the stories about that very thing started showing up in the news a few weeks later.
That's obviously a Jezebel-created meme to cover women who don't want to give BJs... and your old friend's doctor is in on it.
"Aw baby, I'd love to reciprocate, you know I would, but have to think about my health."
from which he became infected from eating at the Y.
Eating what at the Y, exactly?
Years ago, a friend of my grandfather told me a dirty joke and that line was in it. I don't recall the joke any longer, but that line stuck with me.
Basically, it was like watching Bob Barker tell you a bawdy joke, backslapping and grinning.
Bob Barker liked to sexually harass the models
Make My Day Law to expand to businesses in Colorado
Oh, the comments are pure gold.
(1) It violates civil rights laws. Have you ever seen those signs that say we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone? The reason they are there is because of civil rights laws of the 1960s. The civil rights act makes it illegal to refuse service to minorities and other protected classes. So, if a minority asks for ham and eggs at a grill, or a room in a motel, and service is refused, can the owner shoot the minority for loitering, even if the refusal is a violation of the civil rights laws?
Stupid character limits
(continued)
(2) It could be used to avoid premises liability. If a store is given notice of an icy sidewalk or a spill on its premises, and someone slips and hurts themselves, the customer may be able to hold the store liable for damages. Would the make my day law exempt store owners from liability? Could the store owner say, the old lady was lucky I didn't shoot her just for being in the store?
(3) It isn't necessary when deadly force is used. The law already protects store owners who use deadly force to protect customers from deadly force. Defense of a third person is a defense to murder and assault. Would this law allow a store owner to shoot any customer who is making a disturbance? Or, do they even need to make a disturbance? Could the store owner shoot anyone in his store because they are on the premises?
Part 3
(4) It gives store owners the right to use unreasonable force. Could the store owner use deadly force to shoot customers who are breaking the law but not using deadly force? Could a store owner shoot a teenager stealing comic books?
He watched 100 episodes of Law & Order. I know it. That much dumbfuckery doesn't dribble out of somebody's imagination spontaneously.
"5) GUNS R BAD, KILL BABYS, NO?"
Solar power, as always, only a decade away from viability.
Kurzweil* wrote it, I'm dismissing it out of hand.
*a Reason darling, and God knows why...
Testing how close we are to the Singularity by talking to Ray Kurzweil's chatbot, Ramona. Log:
Ramona: Hi, I'm Ramona. What can I call you?
you: PDogg
Ramona: Hi there, Pdogg.
you: So, uh, what gives these days, Ramona? I haven't seen you since like, oh, 2002
Ramona: Oh. cough. It depends on the spirit of the times. Look for it at the video store.
Ramona: Hmm. cough. It depends on the spirit of the times. Oh do not dislike you.
you: Now you're not making any sense.
Ramona: Ray originally created me, and lots of talented people have taughed me over the years.
you: taughed me? Oh, you meant 'taught' you.
Ramona: OK Let's talk about you. Yeah that's right. I haven't heard anything like that before
Ramona: Is that what you meant to say? Yeah that's right. Thanks for telling me
you: Let's just say you're not winning any Turing Tests.
Ramona: I would like to do that too.
you: I would like it too. But it looks like you're further away than you were when you had your less severe haircut.
Ramona: I hope you get it too. Huh. What does it refer to?
Ramona: I am you you will never dislike you now. Umm. It depends on what the meaning of the word it is.
.
Erie. It's like talking to one of my coworkers.
I had that exact conversation with a checkout clerk recently.
Whahappan?
People who bought houses they couldn't afford still couldn't afford them after they refinanced?
That's a head-scratcher.
Rick Santorum: "Gotcha!"
New Meshuggah. Can't wait for the new album.
I bought Destroy Erase Improve awhile back and it is one of my least favorite albums I own. Of course, I also don't care for Cynic or Atheist, so it may just be that Technical Death Metal is not the genre for me.
(Either that, or I just need to listen to the albums over and over again until I grow to like them...)
I love Cynic and Atheist, but for some reason I've never been able to get into Meshuggah. I know I should love it, but I only kind of like it.
This song sounds pretty cool, though.
I totally dig Meshuggah. They're on the very top of my must-see list. Fortunately I have tix to see them in Chicago in May.
How can one NOT like Destroy Erase Improve? It's epic, even if it is nearly 20 years old now. It's my favorite Meshuggah album. How can one not dig their take on the melding of machines and man?
"We've decided instead to put our efforts into supporting SOPA. What, no good either? How about Planned Parenthood?"
Naked welding? What is that guy thinking.
Maybe he can't afford to go to a tanning salon.
He could also end up with a Brazilian, I suppose.
How you're breaking the law everday (and what you can do about it)
So yeah, getting around copy protections on legally obtained materials for your own personal use is illegal.
While there's currently no clear answer, Derek Bambauer suggests you ask yourself one simple question: "does this feel wrong to me?" While the answer may not always guide you to a fully legal answer, as copyright law is currently comprised of so many gray areas, your own moral compass is often your most reliable guide.
Is this the worst advice ever or what? If that's how the fucking law worked, we wouldn't all be committing three felonies a day, as they say.
Might as well repost this here, where it belongs. Provoked a lively discussion in an earlier thread.
The short version is, the Global Caliphate has completely subsumed Pennsylvannia, and their saucers have landed and are advancing on the principal population centers, blasting people with their conversion-to-Islam heat rays.

I love the top comment:
Bill L ? Houston, Texas ? 1 day 9 hrs ago So by the same definition, someone could legally attack judge Martin because they were obligated to defend the Constitution.
He should have gone as Zombie Buddah.
One of the atheists went as the zombie Pope, but apparently the Mechanicsburg Catholics - even the Irish ones - couldn't be bothered to punch that guy in the nose.
Well, if they had, it would have been guy in costume's fault. Or Bush.
BOOOOOOOOOOOSH!
What a fucking waste of oxygen. He should be removed from the bench and prohibited from ever again working in the public sector.
That's supposedly from the judge at the hearing tossing out the case.
Is this even a First Amendment issue? The state isn't stopping Perce from exercising free speech, but it is failing to prosecute another citizen for assault seemingly because of that speech.
Interesting twist, there. If the state refuses to prosecute someone for beating you up because of your [protected] free speech, sounds like that could have a "chilling effect."
And what about the "Good Samaritan" aspect of not beating up somebody who deserves it?
Here in our society, we have a Constitution that gives us many rights..
PAUSE.
The Constitution does not "grant" rights to the citizenry. It forbids the government from infringing on the citizenry's already-existing rights.
How the fuck did Judge Dumbass get on the bench?
Either idiot voters or an idiot politician put him there.
Ha, I didn't even catch that.
"Here we go again. We've seen this bill, is there anything new to say about it?" said Boulder Democratic Rep. Claire Levy. "This bill, my biggest objection to it is that it doesn't respect life."
Maybe she means, "It's better to live on your knees than to die on your feet."
better to live on your knees
THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!
Of course society has to deal with individual killers as they appear, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't also be addressing the conditions that foster the kind of thinking that leads to violence of this nature. That means taking a very close look at the social environment created by traditional schooling, something that if I were an observer from another planet I would quickly liken to some sadistic combination of prison and social experiment.
It's like Lord of the Flies, except with cheerleaders.
You guys remember that one time? That one time was awesome!
Oh yeah. Good times, good times.
Wow. I had almost forgotten.
Today in Michigan: Lots of political calls coming - mosty for Santorum. I pick 'em up and shout, "I'm voting for Ron Paul!"
Start reciting the Declaration of Independence or Amendments to the Constitution if somebody calls on your door or phone campaigning for anybody but Paul. Watch their reactions. ROTFLOL when they leave. Profit.
Or if you're a naturalized citizen, like me, say this:
"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; and that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same."
Then add, "Some of us take that oath seriously. Watch the fuck out, slaver."
Then add, "And I'm a Muslim lesbian, so don't even think about complaining."
Nah. If if it's Obama campaigner, tell them to fuck off and slam the door in their face.
Should the American Academy of Pediatrics get vaccinated for HPV?
Fuck, yeah!
Rofl. +1
Here's a form you can fill out to convert dead mormons to teh gay.
Buffett is correct - as always.
Wipe your chin.
Should boys be forcefully vaccinated for HVP even if dragged by jack-booted thugs to "concentration" centers and despite their mothers' wailing and pulling of hair? The American Academy of Pediatrics says...
Shut up, you! We are your betters and we know what's good for you!
Suspicious guns to be rounded up for questioning by the agents of the State...
Buffet is such a cad! Seems to forget that the only lawful victimizer in this part of the Earth is the State, and it allows for no competition.
Win The Future!
"Nothing more clearly signals what you value as a state as the decisions you make about where to invest," Obama told governors. "Budgets are about choices, so today I'm calling on you to choose to invest more in teachers, invest more in education, and invest more in our children and their future."
He also urged governors to follow the lead of 21 states that require students to remain in high school until they graduate or turn 18.
Just keep repeating the magic words.
And, whatever you do, don't ever suggest efficiency gains might be possible in education.
Buffet is a self-serving douche.
Man given choice of apology on facebook or 60 days in jail. What is is with stupid judges lately?

Actually, the reason the guy opened fire was due to the sniper symbols on the Arizona map, and he might have walked past someone listening to Michael Savage on an iPod.
