According to GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, thanks to Barack Obama, "we are only inches away from ceasing to be a free market economy." Actually, writes Sheldon Richman, the U.S. never had a free market. What we have is a corporatist system, and the sooner we get rid of it the better.
