Christopher Hitchens on Kim Jong-il, One-Party States And…Putting the X Back in Xmas!
In this Reason.tv classic from 2007, recently deceased journalist Christopher Hitchens gives a dramatic reading of Tom Lehrer's "Christmas Song." In introducing the topic, Hitchens talks about why he doesn't like Christmas much and invokes the specter of recently deceased tyrant Kim Jong-Il of North Korea.
About 3 minutes.

The Jongs just another dynasty with better toys than some
As an atheist I must say Hitchens comes across as a complete prick in this clip. Linking voluntary Xmas expressions to the deadly force of N. Korea shows lazy bigotry not insightful wit.
In the spirit of this clip - funny!
Wow, looks like nick's jacket procreated?
What happened to speaking no ill of the dead - or not broadcasting their Christmas-party speeches when they don't get the origin of the "X" in "Xmas":
'The "-mas" part is from the Latin-derived Old English word for "Mass", while the "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word ???????, translated as "Christ".
'There is a common misconception that the word Xmas is a secular attempt to remove the religious tradition from Christmas by taking the "Christ" out of "Christmas".'

Anyway, Hitchens seemed full of Xmas spirits - I mean spirit.
War on Christmas!
We all mourn the loss of a true man of courage, unafraid to resist the lockstep of Marxism. Here's hoping he came to recognize the difference between unreasonable "worship" compelled by a tyrannical pretender, and reasonable and voluntary worship compelled in response to a loving Creator who stepped in to time and space for us 2012 years ago.

Yikes. If Tasha showed up at my house I would cook her an emergency pot of sauce picante. She is emaciated.
President Yeltsin! Your alive!
This is exactly how and why Hitch (though i love him.) is wrong and why he is not a libertarian.
Christmas is not a contraption of the state...sure we all get into it and all put up similar decorations with similar color schemes...but this is what communities do. They as a group of individuals through voluntary action create though action and choices a greater thing.
North Korea's sameness is not a product of this sort of emergent community. It is ordered by threat of imprisonment and death by a tyrant and his soldiers.
Hitches failure to see this stark difference is why he was a failed liberal.
There is no question that Hitch was exceedingly intelligent and articulate. I would give my right arm to have his talent with thought and word. On the other hand he was maddenly dense on some things.
His passing is a great loss to us all.

the head of the European Central Bank hinted that the ECB now may be willing to take bolder actions to address the crisis that has rocked the continent.
Why do you keep putting shit up regarding this warmongering dirtbag?
I don't understand the love and fascination with Hitchens? Why is this pro-war, marxist a Reason hero? Is it because of his rebellious attitude? Che was rebellious as well.
