ATF emails show the agency planned to use "Fast and Furious" to implement new gun control regs.
Uh-oh.
I'm sure MNG will be along soon to explain how those e-mails don't really say what we think they say.
I look forward to seeing the mental gymnastics.
he must have one helluva strong back since moving goalposts is such hard work.
I can't wait to piss in his mouth!
He's a poopy head!
This was the most infuriating line of the linked article:
"It's like ATF created or added to the problem so they could be the solution to it and pat themselves on the back," says one law enforcement source familiar with the facts. "It's a circular way of thinking."
It must infuriate the lefties that CBS is the network doing this; it spikes all of the arguments they would make if Fox were doing it.
I wonder if they'll just have to fall back on Standard Defense #1: "...you just can't stand it that a black man is president".
Say, where is MNG today? I'm looking forward to him admitting that John was 100% right about F&F - that the only logical and consistent explanation for it was to push gun control, because nothing else about it makes any sense at all.
I think MNG is probably at the same place as John right now only he's the one bent over since he lost the bet.
Maybe he decided to get a life.
Posted this yesterday:

Hopefully gun groups will sue Holder and the ATF for civil rights violations / conspiracy. Since it's unlikely anyone else will do anything.
Hmm, how else are we going to find the guns the government keeps misplacing? 😉
How the fuck is this not a big deal?
The wrong people are in charge of the media.
I never realized how Liberal the media was until the internet.
The veil has dropped even further recently with the GOP coverage.
Even with Paul polling like he has been, he's almost never mentioned. It's sickening to see such a blatant attempt to herd.
I thought "legacy media" was dead and bloggers were the new kings of information. No?
It's a still-ongoing process. Government hasn't even started bailing out their MSM lapdogs yet, so we're still in a fairly early stage. But 20 years ago, you wouldn't even have heard of Ron Paul. On the other hand, you wouldn't have heard of Fist of Etiquette, Rather, Maxx, Old Mexican or Sloopyinca either, so I'm not entirely sure it's an improvement.
I comprehend your potato.
20 years ago...you wouldn't have heard of Fist of Etiquette, Rather, Maxx, Old Mexican or Sloopyinca
[sigh]
Good times.
Hey now!
Guns are bad. Ends justify the means. Etc.
I don't care where you are on gun rights, this is a huge abuse of power. In a rational America, the whole administration would likely fall over this.
Today, however, it may not even get much coverage. WTF?
Today, however, it may not even get much coverage. WTF?
Because the right people are in charge!
Also amazing is the fact that the ATF are the assholes the anti 2A nuts want to give gun control power to.
And F & F will not dissuade them.
F&F will encourage them. Anti-2nd folks have to be giddy at the thought of a government agency that not only tried to control guns, but activly tries to subvert American's right to own firearms.
So, we should be getting a special prosecutor any day now, right? I mean, this makes Iran-Contra and Whitewater look small and petty.
Pity that Congress blew their impeachment wad on trying to prove perjury in a collateral matter, because it sure seems appropriate here.
rational America
Is that located anywhere on the North American continent?
In between Canada and the United States.
"Death to the 49th Parallelites!"
To be fair, they do act as a buffer between the U.S. and Canada.
They'd be easily conquered with their inexperienced, 2-dimensional thinking.
I'm not sure they even have two dimensions.
If you really want to piss them off, tell them that you're laughing at their superior intellect. It's their weak spot.
Well, they did offer the world order.
In a rational America
I see flawed reasoning here.
Intentions, goal oriented, etc.
The emails only show that some low-level individuals considered that to be the purpose of the program. We don't know if that's what the program was intended for by the people who ordered it.
I'm still favoring the incompetence explanation over the malice one, but it's not as much of a gap at this point.
Well, I guess this proves Fluffy correct again.
U.S. Agents Launder Mexican Profits of Drug Cartels
They are too big to fail.
Too many American (union) jobs depend on the drug cartels for their existence.
If we were to allow the cartels who fail, what would happen to the poor prison guards and police officers who prosecute the War on People?
ATF emails show the agency planned to use "Fast and Furious" to implement new gun control regs.
I can haz impeachment?
Holder does not deserve LOLcat's attention.
Ceiling Cat is watching you commit felonies.
ATF emails show the agency planned to use "Fast and Furious" to implement new gun control regs.
That can't possibly be right. MNG explained to us fools in great detail how we were just being paranoid Obama-haters to believe such a thing.
Guaranteed to Fail: Fannie, Freddie, and the Debacle of Mortgage Finance (long PDF)
...Was the growth in private label MBS the culmination of the dream of the deregulation
advocates of the 1980s coming to fruition, albeit two decades later? Or was it the emergence of
new government-sponsored enterprises in the form of too-big-to-fail financial institutions? We
argue the latter, and, with this emergence, came a battle between the GSEs and the too-big-tofail
large complex financial institutions (LCFIs), and a race to the bottom in mortgage finance....
...Of course, the GSE firms and these LCFIs were not identical in form. The LCFIs had a
more diversified product line, were afforded greater flexibility, and increasingly were perceived
to have a too-big-to-fail government guarantee -- while the GSEs had a public mission, received
a more explicit government guarantee, and were subject to lighter capital requirements. But
when one digs beneath the surface, the failure of the LCFIs and the GSEs is quite similar ? a
highly leveraged bet on the mortgage market by firms that were implicitly backed by the
government with artificially low funding rates only to differing degrees....
the GSE's are nothing compared to the FHA debacle coming our way.
Meh. I'm still waiting for the REITs to fail.
So how's that whole moderate-Republican strategy working out when running against a fringe far-left opponent like Warren?
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Elizabeth Warren is going to be the next senator from MA.
Don't be so sure; her predecessor started out with a lead and then imploded as the voters got to know her better.
And Warren strikes me as the type of person who has a paper trail of very dumb things she has said a la Van Jones.
Maybe so but I wouldn't underestimate the reflexing retardedness of MA voters to vote Team Blue.
Honestly, it'd going to come down to whether there is a strong Republican presidential candidate or not:
Outside of I-495 MA residents are very much like Ohioans. There is a huge strain of resentment at the corrupt Democratic party that runs things for the benefit of Boston. If the Republicans run a strong candidate they might not be so apathetic and come out in droves.
There are a number of fairly libertarian pockets out here in the west end of the state but the population centers out east have us outnumbered.
I believe this. However, this segment of the MA population is not numerous or influential enough to wrest power from the Deep Blue part of the state, no?
Actually, they could.
The backbone of the Democratic machine are the Catholics living in the Boston area - they are culturally conservative, tend to be union workers and vote Democratic due to the machine politics we have here and the tradition of always voting for the party of rum, Romanism and rebellion.
They broke for Reagan in 1984 and turned on Coakley in the last election.
Warren, being an utter elitist snob, has a better than average chance at alienating them so they break for Brown.
Unfortunately most of the people live inside of 495. This could go either way. Warren really has a bitchy school-marm persona that will alienate all but the ultra-libs.
Unfortunately most of the people live inside of 495. This could go either way. Warren really has a bitchy school-marm persona that will alienate all but the ultra-libs.
I have no faith in the MA voters. I think most people are going to think that Warren is a better replacement for Uncle Ted's seat than Brown ended up being.
Yeah, I could see left wingers moving to MA for a year to campaign for Warren just like right wingers did for Brown. She is a left wing darling and it pisses those people off that an R took Teddy's seat
Considering that all nine Massachusetts U.S. Representatives are currently Democrats, I'm not really buying the notion that there are libertarian or conservative pockets of any substantial size anywhere in MA.
My gut feeling is Scott Brown gets booted out, unless Warren turns out to be incredibly icky and incompetent like Coakley.
Trust me, there are pockets. They're just size 0 jeans pockets.

But, but, but... hapman said Obama isn't a class warrior.
I think Chapman is Tony.
Doesn't Chapman not even like Dr. No?
It's absolutely true. You know all those bad things I've said about Obama over the years? Well, he asked me to stop through his good friend, Eric Holder. I said no, then I woke up with a horse's head in the bed. That might've scared me, but I've never owned a horse.
That's funny, I rolled over this morning, and my usual horse's head was missing. Was the horse's head wearing a monocle, by chance?
Oh, sorry. . .this must be yours.
The Fast and Furious thing needs to lead to arrests if not treason prosecutions.
It won't.

Last time they that, the person responsible got a cozy anchor position at FOX News. You really want to see Holder on TV every weekend?
Holder would most likely end up on MSNBC, so no one would have to see him again.
And now for something completely different.
Dog plays with baby.
Nice
I think that baby has a UFC championship in his future.
So, I guess boxers are good with kids?
I think it depends on the dog and his/her owners.
From the videos they've put up about Linus playing with the kids, it's apparent that these are really good parents who run a non-dysfunctional home -> the dogs and the kids are in an environment that minimizes the likelihood of neurotic behavior.
The best dog I ever had when it came to kids was an enormous (95 pound) pit bull. The second best was an even more enormous (150 lb) Newfie. Both dogs were completely bullet-proof and knew it, so they were tolerant of anything.
A nanny dog and a Newf. I got raised with a Lab and I'd put both of those other breeds with it in dogs that are outstanding with small kids. From the limited experience I have with Newfs, they seem even more docile than Labs, if that's even possible. The dogs have to be trained, of course.
A Newf'll probably be our next dog, assuming we don't fall for whatever has big eyes at the pound. Need a house and a pool first though.
Don't forget a gross of dog brushes and an industrial vacuum cleaner. Newfs are frickin' hair factories.
And drool. When I was home, I always kept a dishrag in my pocket to swipe under his jowls.
Wonderful dogs, if you like 'em big and a smart.
GF's family showed Pyrenees, so she's familiar with the grooming costs. I still laugh at the stories of getting estimates for grooming your dog. It takes me about 10 minutes to bathe and dry the Weim. I'm guessing Lab-like shedding frequency---constant---only a much greater amount.
Not something I have to worry about right now though.
I've got a Newfy and yes, they shed like crazy. For a good three months the floor looks as if it's covered in Brillo pads no matter how often it's vacuumed.
My wife and I have a corgi and hardwood floors... I can never tell where the rugs end an the dog hair begins.
Has anybody had any luck using a roomba on dog hair on hardwood? It seems like the best idea ever, but I don't want to spend the money if it won't pick it up
Never had a roomba, but I did manage to keep ahead of Lab fur with hardwoods by constantly carpet-sweeping/fuzzy cross between a mop and a broom. The area behind her crate still looked like drifts of black snow... Great dog, but damn do Labs shed.
I get that Newf fur is like another order of magnitude greater.
Boxers, as a breed, are especially good with children. The AKC description of the breed includes something like "never a danger in the home". They are often large, and can hurt people if they are allowed to jump on them. Otherwise, they often breed boxers into other breeds to make them family oriented.
I once had a boxer-chow mix. One day a two year old child took one of the dogs big lips between his teeth. The dog tried to pull away but when she realized the child wasn't going to let go, she just stood there and looked at me. She didn't growl or move until I came and rescued her.
I have a boxer-lab mix now. Boxers are without doubt one of the most gentle breeds.
Neither of those idiots knows how to fight effectively.
I LOL'd!
Same here.
Well done FoE.
What I dont get it Baby Face seems focused on the scissors, I mean cmon, skill levels and techniques have evolved. She needs to update her training if she is going to be successful. And Linus? Dancing around and throwing an occaisional jab will not win you a fight.

Elizabeth Warren is polling seven points ahead of Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.).
That poll makes it look like any random Democrat would be trending better than Brown, since the commonwealth leans so far to the D side of things and Team Blue voters are putting her over the top. Almost any Dem other than Warren would probably be doing better for them.
That is not what I would call a healthy margin in a Deep Blue state.
If Brown is willing to get his knuckles bloody, he ought to be able to take her.
The election is 11 months away. She has lots of time to say and do stupid stuff.
This just in: Christina "the forehead" Ricci poses for some really strange pics!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvs.....shoot.html
I must say she looks rather fetching in those - far more so than I thought possible. It's amazing what make-up, lighting, and photoshop are capable of.
She could be an air hostess from the 60s.
or a part-time model.
How can a person spend that much money on designing and crafting clothing, make a beautiful woman look ugly and live with themselves?
Gay.
I don't think they're that strange, but they do look more like a fashion editorial than something for what looks like an industry magazine. She looks pretty decent in them, I thought.
Is Pan Am any good?
I don't know about the movie, but that picture of her in her stewardess uniform brought back a lot of childhood memories. We flew on Pan Am a LOT when I was a kid, and I fondly recall my Pan Am flight pins and the trips to the cockpit to talk to the captain and see the plane fly.
Ever see a Steve Reeve's movie?
Haha yes, if you mean Hercules and his various Roman costume flicks.
I grew up in the 60's and 70's.
So, do you like gladiator movies?
I just wanted to say good luck, and we're all counting on you
I just recorded Gladiator on my dvr - awesome opening scene.
Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?
I prefer Turkish prisons.
Mmmmm. Oiled muscles. 6-pack abs. Skimpily clad men with long, strong thighs. Mmmmm.
I'm sure they're straight. Positive.
C'mon now. The homoeroticism is about 90% of the joy of watching.
I can't compete with those impossibly sculpted gay men!
LOL.
Actually, I was thinking of 300 when I wrote that, which I think we can all admit is one of the gayest movies EVAR.
So, I take it that you have seen a grown man naked then?
Yes. And I enjoy exposing him to my FEMALE GAZE.
I don't think there is anything gay about appreciating a well-sculpted male form. There is a social taboo against it for men, but that does not make it a sexual thing.
but that does not make it a sexual thing
I agree, but I think it is perceived that way but a great many men (and women). I find it interesting that women are socially "allowed" to perceive other women as physically beautiful without there being a perceived sexual component to it.
I find it interesting that women are socially "allowed" to perceive other women as physically beautiful without there being a perceived sexual component to it.

with a noggin like that, I'm surprised she isn't a telepath or can think in 7 dimensions.
Then I'm just a shill for Big Forehead, because I also find Summer Glau and Olivia Wilde very pretty.
All three are geek hot. They get extra points for appearing in iconic bits of geek culture.
Don't get me wrong, they're all cute, but they aren't nearly as hot as the internet thinks they are.
I never really cared who other people thought were hot.
I'm not sure in what iconic bit of geek she culture appeared, but Olivia Wild is a very mainstream actress. Otoh, Glau pretty much only seems to do geeky stuff.
"I never really cared who other people thought were hot."
i.e. "I intentionally chase uggos so I don't get rejected by hot chicks"
Because being rejected by "uggos" is better, am I right?
Come on! Olivia Wilde so outclasses the other two in both looks and talent!

Forehead is 36.6% of face.
Or forehead is 55/95 or 57.8% of her 'face'.
Somebody needs to try harder at the maths, and explaining what they mean. With the numbers given, you can't get 42%.
Transposition error. 1-(55/95)=42%. Still a screw-up, but I see how they got there. Best to use the right numbers in the first place, and I see where they were going with the Klingon crack.

It's all okay now, fellas. The Fed coordinated with the other central banks so foreign banks can now borrow from the Fed for rates cheaper (.59%) than what the Fed offers domestic banks (.75%).
Corzine's testimony to Congress: "I simply do not know where the money is, or why the accounts have not been reconciled to date."
A billion bucks doesn't just disappear. Isn't this something for which an average forensic accountant could provide Corzine an answer, with a pencil, a paper and a spare afternoon? Doesn't he know that? Wouldn't it have been more simple for him to just plead the Fifth?
Yeah, a billion dollars doesn't fall between the couch cushions. It had to go somewhere, and if you don't know where it is, you are criminally negligent in running your enterprise.
It happens
Imagine if he is telling the truth. What Wall Street CEO doesn't know why the Accounting Department isn't reconciling accounts or where their cash is flowing?
He's admitting to a level of incompetence and laziness that is criminal. He is going to lose everything to the lawsuits.
A bit late for pleading the 5th.
Corzine (2010): "We can't go running 30 to 1 leverage ratios on our balance sheet."
30 to 1 - amateurs
"Now, consider this: the top four US banks (JPM Chase, Citibank, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs) control nearly 95% of the US derivatives market, which has grown by 20% since last year to $235 trillion. That figure is a third of all global derivatives of $707 trillion (up from $601 trillion in December, 2010 and $583 trillion mid-year 2010. )
Breaking that down: JPM Chase holds 11% of the world's derivative exposure, Citibank, Bank of America, and Goldman comprise about 7% each. But, Goldman has something the others don't ? a lot fewer assets beneath its derivatives stockpile. It has 537 times as many (from 440 times last year) derivatives as assets. Think of a 537 story skyscraper on a one story see-saw. Goldman has $88 billon in assets, and $48 trillion in notional derivatives exposure. This is by FAR the highest ratio of derivatives to assets of any so-called bank backed by a government. The next highest ratio belongs to Citibank with $1.2 trillion in assets and $56 trillion in derivative exposure, or 46 to 1. JPM Chase's ratio is 44 to 1. Bank of America's ratio is 36 to 1. "
Let me repeat that just for emphasis:
But, Goldman has something the others don't ? a lot fewer assets beneath its derivatives stockpile. It has 537 times as many derivatives as assets.
Scruffy, at a certain point, aren't those degrees of leverage overkill, like asking if your chances of survival are better if the building you jump from is 200 feet tall, or 2300? None of the banks you've mentioned can survive a derivatives collapse, whether at 36 to 1 leverage or 537 to 1.
What happens if, by sovereign diktat, the EU, US, Japan, and whoever else got their dick in the grinder, agrees to zero out all outstanding derivatives contracts: refuse to enforce, grant immediate rescission, that sort of thing?
40 to 1 / 400 to 1 doesn't really matter. But what it says is important. It's saying that we're at the end game on the financial markets. It's saying that Wall Street and the Fed are absolutely out of control and DC is either ignorant, doesn't care, or is colluding.
In answer to your second question, I'm guessing violence and a grand mal seizure of the global economy.
war
this isnt leverage - the ration si not assets to capital, its dirrivatives to assets. It still has its own risk but its different.
And all dirrivatives are not the same - many of thes eliekly cancel each other out. What you need to know is the net exposure. Doing some complex risk managment its quite possible to have dirrivatives that pay out on opposite event results.
Haven't we definitively proven with AIG, Bear Sterns, and Lehman that for most of these firms, the risk analysis was either wrong or incomplete? In any event, I ain't betting that the risk analysis was managed any better than the rest of this clusterfuck.
Goldman appears to be the only smart player, since they figured out co-opting the regulators makes you bulletproof.
Not if you just assume everything follows a normal distribution, then the math works out all nice and tidy.
I understand the distinction. But the reality is trying to unwind these positions is next to impossible. They're really not much more than bets in a worldwide casino based on highly complicated quantum physics equations that are fraught with risk.
The money went all over the damn place. Some of it ended up in Corzine's bank account, some of it went to the DNC, some of it went to Obama's reelection fund, you get the idea.
He was commingling his clients funds with all the rest of it, which is illegal.
OK, maybe a couple of afternoons.
Who wants to bet he doesn't go to prison? Anyone?
I'm betting he remains free but loses every civil lawsuit from investors and shareholders. I hope he ends up broke and homeless.
I'm betting he doesn't even get charged with a criminal offense.
Flip side, he'll be in civil court until he suck starts a 12 gauge over the whole thing.
I think I swiped it from Tam K. over here. I recommend highly. She throws down some fine snark.
Of course he isn't; he's a highly well-connected leftist, which gives him carte blanche to get away with anything.
Here's what happened:
IMF shipped the money to London, which has looser regs on what banks do with customer money.
It then pledged that money to secure loans back to the bank ("hypothecation"), thus effectively exposing customer money to the bank's trading risk. When the bank's trades failed, that money was taken by the lenders.
Guess what? IMF isn't the only bank that does this, and it looks like its legal, at least under US security laws.
http://newsandinsight.thomsonr.....n_scandal/
hoooooooooooly shit
It's outright fucking madness on the part of Wall Street et al. They won't stop until the whole system comes crashing down around them.
Quick gains my man, quick gains.
It seems as though any form or medium or long term thinking is impossible now.
You know, just when I think they couldn't possible get any more fucking stupid and/or thieving in their practices, you come along and drop that in my lap.
And my friends wonder why I go on a rant when they bring up banks in a conversation.
I just love this little blurb from MF Global's customer agreement:
"7. Consent To Loan Or Pledge
You hereby grant us the right, in accordance with Applicable Law, to borrow, pledge, repledge, transfer, hypothecate, rehypothecate, loan, or invest any of the Collateral, including, without limitation, utilizing the Collateral to purchase or sell securities pursuant to repurchase agreements [repos] or reverse repurchase agreements with any party, in each case without notice to you, and we shall have no obligation to retain a like amount of similar Collateral in our possession and control."
They were outright announcing that they would put all of it on the line with no reserve to their customers and it went unnoticed. How common is this among the big investment banks?
How far does this go before they burn some mafia or yakuza group and they start "accidentally" falling thru plate glass windows?
How common is this among the big investment banks?
I suspect its universal. I know I'll be flyspecking some agreements today.
MF Global's may be unusually abusive, but if you happen to be counsel to any organization that has any kind of asset management agreement with an investment bank, you should run, not walk, to your filing cabinet and pull that agreement.
I'd still like to know how the investment team he hired to handle NJ's pension fund was pulling over 17% returns.
Not fucking possible. I'm willing to bet it was thru Madoff style accounting
Quite possible, with insider trading, inside deals with investment bank(ers) willing to "bucket shop" and the like, etc. Lots of ways to lie, cheat, and steal your way to 17% returns.
Wasn't there talk of a billion dollar Obama war chest?

Really? A quick look at their website fails to reveal anything that Nancy, Harry, and Barack wouldn't be perfectly happy with.
Maybe they meant European centrist.
Maybe they meant European centrist.
Crazy how much bullshit there is these days. It's obviously not centrist. Why lie and say it is? Besides, when did "center" become an end rather than a description? The center isn't always the place to be: "Oh, hey, I'm a centrist. . .between God and Satan."
"Moderate" to me can be a good thing, in the Aristotelian sense, but even it is corrupted by this idea that there are two extremes and being in the middle is an absolute good.
Argument to moderation has long been a popular political fallacy.
Moderates, bipartisanship, and compromise got us into this nasty mess, I'm more that ready for what these idiots would call extremism.
I suppose that's centrist for some people. Like some of our (not-so) favorite commentators.

Walsh's bill, developed with the cooperation and assistance of CCRKBA staff, would block U.N. funding unless the President certifies that the world body 'has not taken any action to restrict, attempt to restrict, or otherwise adversely infringe upon the rights of individuals?to keep and bear arms, or abridge any of the other constitutionally protected rights' of U.S. citizens." ...

Illinois Congressman Joe Walsh
I loved County Fair
And just found this on youtube. A really young Joe.
Any chance we could see a Barnstorm reunion tour? I would much rather go see that than The Eagles.
Or a James Gang reunion.
Im thirsty. 🙂
Let's see how the playoff goes, robc...
don't capitalize "The". It's just Eagles.
I hate the fuckin' Eagles.
Man, what is with the Reasonoids and hating great music? sheesh.
Do all you bastards listen to Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and all that other BS? wtf is wrong with you people?
Political life's been good to him. So far.
Really? You want for the low hanging fruit?
I would have accepted: "When did Illinois become a Rocky Mountain State?" before that.
Ooooh...a political barnstorming reference...that would have been the real winner.
went for...not want for.
Im not donating until we get a damn preveiw button.

Republican enthusiasm for voting in 2012 has fallen
I'm pretty sure that Obama can fix this over the next ten months.
Republican enthusiasm for voting in 2012 has fallen
Newcular. Titties.
Things might also change when the Republicans have a candidate.
Were Republican voters enthusiastic about voting for the last candidate? If they work up a hardon for McCain, they can get enthusiastic for anyone.
I think the only enthusiasm was for Palin. Even McCain did not seem very enthused about being President and probably voted for Obama.
McCain lost...
...now is the winter of our malaise.
I think you might be right about that.
American government played 'hide the truth' with Japanese atrocities
Shush, let's not deviate from the accepted groupthink that FDR is a hero of civil liberties.
ahh immunity was granted at the end of the war...when truman was president. >radio entertainment aint education
The facts were known during the war, and mum was the word
of course the allies knew about japanese atrocities DURING the war. >the immunity was granted AFTER when Truman was POTUS.

"I'm Jealous of Calendar Girls"
http://dearwendy.com/columns/i.....dar-girls/
Because he should just lie. Then you can feel okay while you're working on your second helping of pasta.
The woman in question is actually probably underweight, unless she is very short (she says she is 110 pounds). She's just an insecure wimp.
I can easily imagine a guy saying this in exasperation when it is in his fricking face all the time, as it clearly is here. Otherwise, he's a jerk too.
The correct answer when a woman asks you that is, "Why would you ask me that?"
If she presses the issue, come with "Do you know how much time those people spend in makeup to look like that? I'll bet _________ (insert starlet's name) doesn't really even look like that in real life. Now, let's get you out of those clothes."
^^DING DING DING!
We have a winner!
Yeah, that's not bad.
Fuck all that bullshit. It's far more than I can muster.
The REAL answer to that is "Don't ask me that question if you're not prepared to hear the answer."
Yeah, but sloopy's now having sex and you're not.
nah, just find another GF
Patently false.
My wife understands that 1) I'm married, not dead, 2) just because one is on a diet, doesn't mean one can't look at the menu, 3) honesty with her is fucking sexy.
I also get the occasional unsolicited and unreciprocated BJ.
Shit couldn't be better. I DON'T have to lie, am not in want/need, get BJs, AND she works while I stay at home with the kids.
I also get the occasional unsolicited and unreciprocated BJ.
Have you been to any musicals lately?
And I'm not sure what to make of the fact that this implies that you could, in fact, reciprocate a BJ with your wife.
-K
Ms. Bandit just says "Yeah, she is kind of hot" and then i lose focus.
Or perhaps "What do you think?"
I think it is stupid for men to lie about things like that. Of course the calendar models are better looking. That's why they are in calendars. I can't imagine that a person can really get over body image problems without accepting that there are indeed lots of women who are more attractive and that men are going to look at them and appreciate that fact. And there is nothing wrong with that and it indicates nothing about your relationship.
This girl is an idiot, but Wendy actually pretty much nails it in her response. And the comments also, for the most part. (!!)
Yeah, the advice was actually pretty good. I can't imagine what a needy ball of insecurity this chick is in person.
I know, I feel sorry for the BF having to endure that. It must be pretty horrific (unless that is why he is actually with her). Some guys like fixeruppers as much as some women do.
But otoh, if he is saying things to her in exasperation "YES!! THEY'RE BETTER LOOKING THAN YOU!!!" then it sounds as if he's fed up with her neediness. I honestly think that's more of a dealbreaker than looking at sexy pictures of women (which is not a dealbreaker at all in my book). Who wants to live with that crap day and and day out.
Yeah, I can't imagine living with somebody who every time you're watching a movie starts with "Is she prettier than me? Huh? Do you think she's better looking? Huh? Huh? Huh?". That would get old real fast.
I see you've met my ex-wife...
Some guys like fixeruppers as much as some women do.
It's Superman Syndrome--guys are basically hardwired to solve problems, and a woman whose got a lot of problems can make them feel empowered and needed at first. After about 2-3 months, though, they realize that these "problems" are largely self-inflicted and perpetuated, and they begin losing interest. It's no fun dating a girl that can't get her shit together, especially after you've provided good counsel.
I'm skeptical. I like crazy chicks for the crazy, not because I think I can fix them.
ALL chicks aer crazy, it is a matter of degree and control.
I have male friends who claim crazy-chick sex is the best, but not as a long term relationship. I can't see it myself, but I intensely dislike drama.
but how many of those crazy chicks have such a severe lack of self confidence that this girl has? She just seems to have major self esteem issues.
the problem with real crazy chicks is they don't go away...and they are hell of your expensive elctronic shit.
Well, in this girl's case, I doubt she would be very good considering she would probably be too self conscious to even get in the mood. Hell, I wouldn't doubt if she was still a virgin.
"When I asked my boyfriend if he thought they were better looking than me, he said yes..."
Sit down here, son, I need to have a little talk with you.
"Would you leave me for her?"
"I would kill you for her."
Ha!
"How am I supposed to compete with good-looking women who get hours of work done on them before a photo shoot?"
Anal.
+1.
Bringing a "friend" home with her wouldn't hurt either.
I think that would only spell trouble for the guy, because she wouldn't really be for it with all of her self esteem issues. She would probably accuse him of cheating or any number of things after such an event.
Also learning how to give good head. Always amazes me how many women suck at head... Wait, that isn't...
Everything my boyfriend needs he can get from movies these days.
I want to know what the fuck kind of movies this guy is watching.
Maybe they're in Feel-Around

On a somewhat related note, I have a friend who's husband had a quite extensive video collection (before the days of free 'net stuff) and as a present to her, he shredded it all. I think it may have made him go more underground, though.
I used to feel a sort of competition with the chicks in those sorts of things. (I was a bit younger then, too.) Now, I'm more like "whatever" b/c my guy still gets turned on by me 🙂
as a present to her, he shredded it all.

Is former Arizona U.S. Attorney to be F&F sacrificial lamb?
"With Thursday's anticipated grilling of Attorney General Eric Holder by members of the House Judiciary Committee looming large, a careful reading of the letter sent to Congressman Darrell Issa and Senator Charles Grassley by Deputy Attorney General James M. Cole the other day suggests that the Justice Department has selected its fall guy(s) for the Operation Fast and Furious fiasco." ...

Scapegoat located -- obfuscation amplified
Go for it, Eric. Throw a US Attorney under the bus. I'm sure he'll still want to cover your ass when Congress puts him under oath.
It really depends on the strength of the charges they can throw at him. What's a year in jail, if the possible alternative is a very long time at the bottom of the Chesapeake?
Just once I want one of the Grill Team to say "No, you lying sack of shit, we will not accept this scapegoat. We are coming after YOU because you are the fucking boss and we have evidence you orchestrated this whole thing! Or we can go to YOUR boss."

I wonder if they intend to use either of those powers...

Government hiding numbers of guns LEGALLY sent to Mexico, diverted to cartels
"CBS News investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson continues her excellent coverage of the 'Project Gunwalker' scandal on a somewhat different tack. This time, rather than focusing on the Department of Justice, and that department's illegal arming of the drug cartels ... she looks at how much the State Department's entirely legal actions have contributed to the drug cartels' firepower."
"In the CBS report, we learn that the State Department has approved sales of tens of thousands of guns to the Mexican police and military, very many of which soon thereafter ended up in criminal hands. ..." ...
-----------------
Very interesting.
What's surprising is that CBS has a history of being very anti-gun.
They might be anti-gun, but someone there probably realizes that if they provide the only MSM investigation it is going to get a lot of traffic driven to them. Theyre anti-gun, but not always anti-money.
Maybe they're actually principled anti-gun people. If they believe guns are bad (I know, bear with me...), then they believe the government should not be providing guns to anyone, much less anyone who will end up forking them over to criminals who will then kill people with them.
Or what SFC B said.
Somewhere, Dan Rather is having severe heartburn.
There were some rumors that in that same part of New Mexico where the local government was caught running guns to the cartels, a State Dept program was providing guns directly to the Zetas. I don't know that anyone ever followed up on it, since it was just an allegation by some former CIA guy.
I'd like to see Congress do some more grilling about why the DOJ caught a guy on the border with crapload of grenade parts and just let him walk without even bothering to consider a case against him.
This shit really needs a special prosecutor, though.

OH: Hearing for Canton police officer who threatened to execute concealed carry licensee postponed again
"The Canton Repository reported recently that a hearing for Officer Daniel Harless, the Canton police officer who was caught on dash cam video berating an Ohio concealed handgun license-holder and threatening to execute him, has been postponed yet again."
"The article also reveals that Harless continues to receive sick pay, even though he is out of paid time off, thanks to a special clause in his union contract." ...
Why would the other officers donate sick days to that fuck?
Oh yeah, thin blue line bullshit.
This is the problem with cops, the union members should be actively working to get their leadership to expel him from the union.
It's a workplace karma thing. You donate to this guy, even though he's a scumbag, because when something happens to you, you'll need people to donate to you. I'm sure cops are just like the military. You go along to get along, or you will get fucked.
The only way this will happen is if these assholes suffer genuine, harsh punishments for their crimes.
And of course, if any serious action would be taken en masse to remind the police just what exactly their role in society is, there would be an epidemic of Blue Flu and all of the hollering that chaos will rule in an attempt to threaten the citizenry in to backing off.
Don't have to worry about that though. We can't even get the first part right.
You mean a four week unpaid suspension won't be enough? You're just further proof of the evil double standard against cops at this site.
What's the benefit of delaying the hearing, other than it lets media attention die down some more? They're not making the complainant show up for each hearing that gets continued, are they? I don't recall that the guy was near vesting for retirement, so that can't be it.

OK, this has really been bugging me. Can someone please explain the "gambol lockdown" meme to me? Sorry for my ignorance.
don't ask.
Shhhh...don't awaken him!!!
gambol.
lockdown
Hey, one of my comments is in the top 3!
reasonable's auto-WI detection seems to be flagging anyone who talks about g4mb0l l0ckd0wn. I've had to turn the feature off or I miss amusing conversations like this.
Right, so I googled it last night and saw a similar set of results. I guess I'm asking for its origins. Best I can tell, a troll was arguing that capitalists and communists alike restrict the freedom of others to tread (or gambol) where they please, thus free markets are antithetical to true freedom. That argument was mockingly summarized as "gambol lockdown." Is that pretty much the whole story?
Basically, more or less, the White Indian troll and all its other handles maintains stupidly that libertarians don't really believe in freedom because we support the concept of property rights, and spouts other inanities, claiming we don't support its supposed right to 'gambol freely', or some such crap.
It's not just the stupid either. A plain old troll would be fine. Its the spammy/cut&paste;/denial-of-service nature of the comments that make it so bad.
Close enough. You've already spent way too many brain cells on this, Dan.
Actually, I am glad to see this "explained" (as much as it can be explained) b/c I had the same question.
About a month ago or so, Rather must have watched Apollo 13, where one of the issues they battle is something called gimbal lock, a condition that messes up the gyros used in guidance systems.
Rather, who copies and pastes diatribes about anarcho-primitivism obsessively and frets about gamboling, and is impressed by observations like "dog" is "god" spelled backward, seems to have been struck by the similarity between the word gimbal and the word gambol, and a new Reason meme was born.
You must be stupid, Tarran or just sugarfrees' lapdog . Which is it?
Why can't it be both?

And guys who go postal at the workplace aren't usually detained indefinitely without a trial.
"In the CBS report, we learn that the State Department has approved sales of tens of thousands of guns to the Mexican police and military, very many of which soon thereafter ended up in criminal hands. ..." ...

Goddammit.
"In the CBS report, we learn that the State Department has approved sales of tens of thousands of guns to the Mexican police and military, very many of which soon thereafter ended up in criminal hands. ..." ...
No kidding.
How many people seriously believe the narcoterroristas have built their arsenals by buying guns one or two at a time at gun shows or from dealers.
You mean they don't sell machine guns at Walmart?
Not at the one by my house.
More seriously, if I were running Wal-Mart, I'd have heartburn over the way they handle firearms sales. They haven't the first faintest clue about how to fill out a 4473. I bought a rifle there, and won't do it again. The possibility of paperwork errors was way too high.
I buy 9mm target ammo at Walmart. Otherwise, I dont use them for my firearm needs.
Yeah, you can't beat their ammo prices unless you're buying in bulk. And even then it's not by much. I buy my .45 practice ammo there until I get motivated to set up the reloading gear.
Have you tried looking on the internet?
Although I agree there is not much of difference in price for name-brand inexpensive ammo. Walmart has huge buying power.
To make internet ordering worthwhile, you pretty much have to buy in case lots or shipping eats you alive. I bought 3 20 round boxes of .308 recently and shipping was more than the cost of a box. For more specialized ammo (6.5 Grendel, .338 Lapua, etc.) you almost have to do it and just accept the fact it's more expensive.
But for something like .45 ACP FMJ 230gr? It's fractional cents per round cheaper to buy off the internet, and Wally World is always there. I usually pick up a box or two when I'm there buying other random crap.
Not when you reload. My 6.5 Grendel purrs with handmade ammo. I know she likee when I hear that "PING" from 700 yards out!
Get fucking motivated.
It's not only cheaper, but you will shoot more and the end product is generally of much higher quality.
If your looking for pistol rounds and you do a lot of shooting, a progressive press is a must.
ammoseek.com has paid off for me big time with defense rounds.
Gov. Jerry Brown implores California voters: Please raise taxes on yourself

Thanks, RoboCain. This is a much better feed than C-SPAN.
It's getting good: Sensenbrenner is threatening impeachment.
No problem.
I think there will be some good rhetoric, but I'm still not optimistic about justice being served.
The only way justice could be served for Holder is if Mads Mikkelson disemboweled him with his bare hands.
Ted Poe stated in an interview this morning that he was specifically going to request that Holder resign. I wonder if that's gone down yet?
I love it when their intended eviscertion of the constitution just blows up in their faces, don't you?

BIG NEWS Reason ignores because you're all racist. Republicans want to bring back Jim Crow laws...just ask Barbara Lee or the NAACP.
IMO, Jim Crow is happening already, just the other day on the way to the mall I saw a Black woman sitting at the back of the bus because all the seats up front were taken. I think the GOP is purposely pursuing policy that takes people out of their cars so more people will take the seats up front on the bus before it gets to the Black neighborhood.
So then after arriving at my destination I was walking through the shopping mall, there were three water fountains and two of them were occupied by White people. However I noticed a Black man (must have been thirsty) was heading for the unoccupied drinking fountain. I suspect its because GOP policies lead to prosperity for Blacks and some have moved to the suburbs. It's a secret right-wing conspiracy by Republicans to bring back segregation at the water fountains. Just like the Republicans push energy and social engineering policies to get more people out of their cars and onto the front seats of the bus - which starts out its route in the suburbs - so Blacks will have to sit in the back on the way into the big city the Republicans want us herded into.
/sarcasm
Actions really do speak louder than words but I'm pretty sure Democrats openly admit they want more people living in the cities using public transportation and their energy policy proves Democrats are at war with suburbia.
