Reason invites you to join Reason.com movie critic Kurt Loder for an evening of drinks and discussion in celebration of Loder's new book The Good, The Bad, and the Godawful: 21st Century Movie Reviews.

Entertainment Weekly wrote, "Every sentence [is] a witty, take-no-prisoners surprise," and ABC News correspondent Chris Connelly said, "Reading this book is like sitting next to Kurt at the movies…only you get to laugh as loud as you want!"

Kurt Loder was a staff writer and senior editor at Rolling Stone for nine years, where he remains a contributing editor. He was also writer and host of MTV's THE WEEK IN ROCK for more than a decade and reviewed thousands of movies for MTV.com. He is co-author of Tina Turner's autobiography, I Tina, a New York Times bestseller.

The event will take place at Reason's DC HQ on Thursday, December 8 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Beer, wine, and light refreshments will be served.

  • What: Kurt Loder Book Party
  • Where: Reason's DC HQ at 1747 Connecticut Ave. NW
  • When: Thursday, December 8 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm

This event is free and open to the public. However, space is limited and RSVPs are required. Email events@reason.com to reserve your space.

...or gambol about plain and forest?

  2. ClubMedSux   14 years ago

I think every Kurt Loder profile should mention his appearance in the seminal mockumentary "Fear of a Black Hat."

  3. JeremyR   14 years ago

Does anyone actually read Reason (or this blog) for the movie reviews? There are almost never any comments...

    1. affenkopf   14 years ago

I don't com for the movie reviews but I appreciate them (unlike the friday morning 'funnies').

  4. Joe   14 years ago

What kind of beer will be served? Need to know if a flask is necessary.

  5. Res Publica Americana   14 years ago

DC? So I can't bring my 1911? Fuck that, man!!!!!

  6. albo   14 years ago

Anybody read his book? Does he go into the influence the international market is having on Hollywood?

Such as that films can massively suck huge donkeys now because as long as they have stars, hotties, and plenty of things that go "BOOM," the studios will make money off the foreign market.

  7. Colonel_Angus   14 years ago

Youtube frame captures of Kurt Loder create a perception of a soulless, humorless, cynical genius like Anton Chigurgh.

  8. dunphy   14 years ago

Loder seems like a nice guy, but he's got the gravitas of Cheez whiz .
