Reasoners on the Dial: Nick Gillespie & Matt Welch on Chicago's WGN 720 AM Tonite, 11pm CT
Matt Welch and I will appear on WGN 720 AM's Extension 720 with Milt Rosenberg tonight starting around 11pm CT (or whenever the Cubs lose their ball game tonight).
We'll be talking about Ron Paul, libertarian politics, and, yes, The Declaration of Independents, our new book that wowed George Will, Forbes, Barron's, and others. Go here for more info on the show tonight - and to listen live online.
And go here for more info on the book.
Read our latest op-ed, published over the weekend in The Arizona Republic.
And if you live in the hog-butchering, broad-shouldered city of Chicago, come hear Matt and me talk at one of two joints tomorrow. One's a lunch gig and the other is a happy hour talk. Details here.

Re: the alt text.
Obviously, it refers to the proverbial '800 pound gorilla in the room'.
I miss Milt Rosenberg.
His best shows were on nights after the Bears lost in the playoffs (basically every year I was growing up except 85) and he would try to put things in perspective for borderline-suicidal callers.
Did he tell them to do it?
Wow, Milt Rosenberg's still on? "Extension 720" used to be in an earlier time slot in the 1970s and a more serious, professorial style show than it must've become by your recollection, like David Brudnoy's. Here in the shadow of WOR, I'd need a very directional antenna to pick up adjacent channel WGN,
Don't need no antenna Homie. Its free on the WGN radio website!
iirc it came on at 9pm CT when I was a Rockford lad, and was pretty serious most of the time. But on game days WGN was all Bears all the time back then.
Reasoners?
KOKO WANT LEATHER JACKET
OK, who would win in a fight: Koko or STEVE SMITH?
That is STEVE SMITH.
No, that's Steve's younger, weaker cousin SCOTT SMITH. He also talks in all caps, and enjoys bananas, tire swings, and RAPE!
That's not how you spell tonight.
HODOR!
Why can't we ask about that photo?
What are they hiding?
(or whenever the Cubs lose their ball game tonight).
Get Bent!!
Cubs 2 Astros 1
Cubs Win! Cardinals Lose!
It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood!
Cubs 2 Astros 1 is basically a loss for the Cubs because the AAAstros are teh suck.
Is that Mr. Rogers and a real gorilla? If so, that neighbor has some balls. I wouldn't even want to hold a macaque in my arms.
Racist.
By the way, that is probably a real picture. Fred got up close and personal with Koko in this episode.
I found that image and Big Bird flipping the bird, both at reason.com.

Why don't they just give that stupid chimp a hearing aid and be done with it?
This isn't a Rick Perry story. Why?
Is that how Rogers died?
no, he was taken up to heaven in a flaming chariot.
Flaming, eh? No wonder the Westboro freakshow picketed his funeral.
"the vast empire of Reason"
This better be worth interrupting my STP audio marathon....
Advice for Nick: Milt doesn't like being interrupted. This isn't Politically Incorrect, dude.
Matt Welch: "Nick and I both favor a social safety net."
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Nick n Matt gearing up for a 2012 run?
The traffic guy is going so fast through his report he's tripping over his tongue, while the weather guy sounds like Emo Phillips on tranquilizers. WGN knows how to pair their problem people, it seems.
Born out of wedlock != single parent, Milt.
GO BACK TO ITALY GILLESPI!!!!
Hey assholes, Cubs win, Cubs win. Should have realized they were playing the Astros, the team worse than the Cubs.
Your welcome for the closing call.

The specific site visitors man is going so fast by means of his report he's tripping greater than his tongue, while the environment man seems like Emo Phillips on tranquilizers. WGN understands the way in which to pair their trouble people
