Since 1968, REASON has been the country's leading libertarian magazine of "Free Minds and Free Markets."
A year's subscription (11 issues) costs just $14.97 and there's a money-back guarantee, so subscribe today!
Certainly the only magazine to be praised by Rush Limbaugh and the ACLU, REASON covers politics, culture, and ideas with a unique combination of wit, insight, and outrage. We'll show you why bailout economics, the war on drugs, and adventurous foreign policy are bad for America - and why free enterprise, school choice, and really free expression are good for what ails us.
REASON has been called "a kick-ass, no-holds-barred politiical magazine" (New York Post) whose "refusal to carry water for the Republicans and Democrats is deeply refreshing in this age of partisan bickering" (Folio).

Off topic: Are the Ferengi a clever indictment of libertarian ideals or a grotesque manifestation of Roddenberry's anti-semestism?
Trick question. They are actually the lamest villains ever created.
Isn't one of the "Rule of Acquisition" "Peace is good for trade"? The writers wrote themselves into a corner on that one.
There is also one that is "War is good for trade."
Although besides the obvious exploitation of women, the Ferengi were actually a lot more civilized than humans for a significant portion of history. Namely, they (meaning non first season TNG) find humans to be sort of warlike barbarians (mini-Klingons). In one time travel plot they also find the idea that humans would poison their own bodies (smoking) to be incredible.
Quark also indicated that Ferenginar never had slavery or genocide. If I remember correctly, when we first meet the Fernegi in TNG, Date compares them to 20th Century Americans. Obviously, the lowest lifeform in the galaxy.
I've always thought they were a pretty heavy-handed critique of capitalism & free markets. Which, of course, is a theme that runs thru much of Trek.
It got a lot better in DS9.
So long since I've seen those but I thought the Ferengi were still portrayed as pretty bad (I know, poor vocabulary but brain dead tonight). I like Trek but always thought Babylon-5 was more accurate in its portrayal of the future.
The humans still looked down on them as greedy, but they had several episodes where they showed a positive facet about them. "Treachery, Faith and the Great River" showed that they can be a lot more efficient than the bureaucratic StarFleet.

Off topic: Do you really believe that dinosaurs evolved into birds, and that's where they all went?
no
Into the amber, of course.
I killed the dinosaurs. Long story.
Mitch Daniels will not run for President. Media omission of Ron Paul and Gary Johnson continues apace.
