That Is Slick
Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) road crews were supposed to put salt brine on the Capital Beltway to reduce icing. Instead, they accidentally sprayed magnesium chloride on the road. The magnesium chloride froze, leading to 11 accidents. Four people injured in those accidents had to be taken to the hospital. The entire outer loop of the Beltway had to be closed, and the SHA had to send out more trucks to spread sand and salt on the road.
