Reason is not kind to narcissists.

  3. ?   15 years ago

Matt gets to follow the awful Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who is spinning for all she’s worth. It’s almost like she lives in a whole different universe!

    1. James Ard   15 years ago

That was one of the most dishonest segments I’ve seen in a while. Thank God we get Welch to cleanse the pallet.

  4. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

I can’t liveblog this; I’m at work. How inconvenient.

  5. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

    OMG, they’re taking callz.

  6. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

You want to get a grin out of Matt, use the phrase “another libertarian hero”.

    1. Matt Welch   15 years ago

Though in fairness, it helps to be coupled with “Murray Rothbard.”

  7. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

Ha, a question about unfunded mandates. That questioner was a total plant.

    1. James Ard   15 years ago

Actually, Mr. Happy is a Washington Journal regular. He is close to the lead for tweets read.

  8. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

A question about Reason donor disclosures.

Hey, I donated. Am I on the donor list? (Right under the Koch brothers.)

  9. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

Did Matt just pander to the veterans lobby?

    Hippie cred = gone.

    1. Matt Welch   15 years ago

Some of my deadest relatives were veterans!

      1. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

We donors aren’t paying you to shill for the deceased. (Or maybe we are. It was never made totally clear to me what our sinister agenda was.)

  10. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

Ha, this caller has Matt’s number. Reason living off their sugar daddies, who only want Social Security pulled out from under old people instead of making Wall Street pay their fair share.

  11. matt2   15 years ago

Welch is pwning NYT commenters left and right, this is hilarious.

  12. ?   15 years ago

Anybody notice that the callers are a little less crackpotty when the guest is not an entrenched partisan hack?

    Great job, Matt.

  13. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

OMG, the teachers unions have gotten to Matt!

  14. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

Roseanne wants higher taxes. I can’t believe this breathless call is coming from the Democratic line. Good luck answering this incoherence, Matt.

    1. matt2   15 years ago

      EISENHOWER EISENHOWER COMMUNAL POT 91%

  15. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

    Ha, “Richie McRichpants”.

  16. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

    Matt just outed Ron Bailey.

  17. James Ard   15 years ago

Grand slam on the Koch question.

  18. James Ard   15 years ago

Greta usually rips libertarians to shreds. I think the glasses threw her off her normal, statist game.

  19. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

The Koch callers seemed to be lined up and ready to go. Matt is supremely unflappable.

  20. ?   15 years ago

Washington Journal is like the Leno gag (or is it Letterman?) where he walks the streets with a camera crew and asks ordinary Americans difficult questions like “Who is the Vice President?” and “Who did America fight in the Civil War?”, just to prove how stupid we are; the difference being WJ is live and unedited and is not supposed to be funny. It’s all rather depressing–if one may apply this small sample to the population as a whole–to see ourselves exposed as so utterly shallow and clueless.
