Congress as "Cowards" or, Even Stopped Clock, Jack Cafferty, Alec Baldwin Right Once in a While.
CNN's Jack Cafferty lays into America's only known native criminal class, Congress, for being "cowards." The meat of his complaint? Pass a budget already, ya idjits! From the entertaining site Who Said? You Said!:
CNN commentator Jack Cafferty teed off an issue that has draw little public attention: the failure of the Democratic-controlled Congress to even pass a budget this year.
"Our lawmakers ought to be ashamed of themselves," said Cafferty, according to the Cafferty File blog and video above. "They have yet to pass a federal budget, but some people in Congress still think it's a good idea to leave town early, go home and campaign for the upcoming midterm elections. You know – go home and tell the folks what a great job they're doing."
Cafferty noted that a new federal fiscal year starts Oct. 1 and "without a budget it is literally impossible to have any idea what the hell the government's doing with our money."
Here's an idea (beyond the need for Congress to learn how to BALANCE a budget): just as children don't get allowances if they don't do their chores, prohibit Congressional representatives from receiving paychecks until they pass a budget.
Great bonus Caffertyiana: Alec Baldwin tees off on the Caff's "Man of the People" status and the anchor's dissing of NYU grad Baldwin as a potential political candidate ("Baldwin's credentials are questionable… but Franken is no slouch. He's Harvard educated"). Here's how Baldwin tells Cafferty to hit the bricks, pal:
I would like to make a deal with Cafferty. Jack, you don't tell people that a career in the performing arts disqualifies them from seeking elected office, and I won't say publicly that your being convicted of leaving the scene of an accident in which you struck a cyclist and then ran two red lights while you were pursued by the police and were subsequently ordered to serve 70 hours of community service back in May of 2003 disqualifies you from posing as a "Man of the People" on a major cable news network.
Fair enough?
Zing! More here.

Schweddy balls for Congress!
Schweddy balls for Congress!
And then Jack Tweeted, "Oh yeah? You make little girls cry!"
And then Alec Tweeted, "Oh yeah? I got to screw Kim Basinger!"
And then Jack Tweeted, "Oh yeah? Wolf Blitzer is way hotter!"
Is Baldwin still in the country? I thought he left when Bush got re-elected?
Was he editor of the Harvard Law Review (whatever the fuck that is)?
Cuz that is pure electoral gold Jerry.
I'd really rather see them prohibit Congressional representatives from receiving paychecks until they pass a BLANCED budget.
I'd rather they not get paychecks at all!
Baldwin could have gotten degrees from Oxford and Harvard and his credentials would still be questionable. Why do so-called progressives seem to think where you did undergrad work 30 years ago should be your most important accomplishment in life?
Because they don't have anything else?
Alec's credentials? He used to be a salesman. It's a tough racket.
Bitchfight!
I dislike Baldwin, and loathe JackOff.That point has to go to Baldwin, that was a pretty good, "Here's your ass, STFU." comment.
Put that coffee down!
Alright, Alec just went up two notches in my book. That is one brutal bitchslap.
I hope the insurgent candidates make a big, big point about the failure of Congress to discharge their fundamental responsibility this year by failing to pass a budget.
He sells Al Franken short. He a TREMENDOUS slouch. Besides, I've met too many Harvard grads to be very impressed with that sheepskin. I've got far better and more intelligent folks working with me from State and land grant schools than the few pampered princes of the Ivy League. That bunch seems to think the world owes them something.
