Fuck Steve Jobs with a rusty shovel.
There's an app for that
Hobie, what does this have to do with smoking? Everyone knows that iPhones and smoking have nothing to do with one another.
Any chance this'll come to Android?
Who cares? I can read H&R on my Droid browser just fine. No need for a separate app.
The H&R layout could definitely be more mobile-friendly, though. We should petition the squirrels.
Droid FTW
works fine to.
it's been broken on my mytouch for about three weeks, and when I try to go to reason.com, it sends me to m.reason.com, without letting me override.
Also, no brickbats.
Yeah for real, give us an Android version. A libertarian app on a libertarian platform -- all meta and shit.
Yeah for real, give us an Android version. A libertarian app on a libertarian platform -- all meta and shit.
Also, completely mysterious and unexpected double-posting. My bad.
The squirrels reject your meta.
Just add the RSS feed to your google reader and use Newsrob for easy blog reading. Don't need a stinkin' separate app for just one website.
I've had major problems with NewsRob -- it doesn't synch up my read/unread items correctly. I've actually had better luck with the admittedly barebones mobile Greader site.
Plus, as others have mentioned, a mobile-friendly commenting system would be great, and wouldn't be accessible from any RSS aggregator.
And yet, apparently some people feel they do....
Expect to see fewer hits from a California-based iPhone running OperaMini.
IPhone is extra I suppose? Or is there a link?
No? Well, Ayn Rand was a fag.
Er.
Good, the mobile Reason site wasn't working lately.
This app is pretty nice. My one gripe. No kick-ass commenting reading/input system (or at least one I'm not too retarded to find).
Oh well, it's free! Maybe if I donate...
Yes, I realize I should have put this comment in an e-mail sent to app@reason.com
What? You can't post comments on it? USELESS!
Yup. For an app called Reason...
Drink! (But only approved beverages from from the iTunes store.)
I agree - a great commenting system would be great.
Doubleplus Great!
It's totally useless without comments!
Well I certainly don't come here for the articles themselves.
Well Olie, what trouble have you gotten us into this time
Thanks for this! Reading reason on the iPhone browser is a real pain.
Yes. This app actually makes reading the articles on iPhone possible. Nice!
I haven't had anoroblem reading the full site on my phone. The artcles seem to be formatted nicely. You guys do know you can turn the phone sideways to use the widescreen, right?
Typing can be a problem, but an app isnt going to make that easier or the screen bigger. If it has comments available, I'll use it.
Yes, but I strain my eyes even trying to read the site on the Safari browser while holding the iPhone sideways.
Agreed. It's way too small and slow to load.
Had no idea there were this many iFools infesting our blog.
Gay marriage #1 libertarian issue=Apple FanBois
I have sometimes been tempted to buy an iPod. The reason I do not is that they do not play .ogg files natively.
Did you go to law school, Tulpa? 'Cause I see you over there judgin'...
Whoa, was that a Chamillionaire reference? Ridin' dirty, indeed.
I use FLAC, and this kept me away from Apple for years. Then my iAudio cratered hard, and nobody was making a hard disk-based mp3 player with native FLAC support. I finally broke down and got an iPod & MediaMonkey. MediaMonkey transcodes on the fly when you load your device according to rules you set.
I still miss my iAudio, but owning an iPod gives you the greatest range of accessories on the planet. I may switch to an Archos when my current iPod dies, because the new ones run Android and are essentially an Android iTouch. That'll let me play with Android before my next phone upgrade comes around.
Stay the hell away from anything made by Archos. The feature set is excellent, but the build quality is terrible.
Jealous much?
Does this app eschew nested, threaded nonsense?
No, you need another app for that. Which also makes fart noises.
Actually, Jobs' obsession with Jobs-flavored order could pay off here. I can only assume he would be a linear, non-nested guy. Too messy and chaotic.
Nah, who am I kidding? He'll just patent it and call it iNesting.
Ah, now that's a sick burn, JW.
The Jobs hate...i don't get it. When Apple sucked (to be clear 1970s t 1986 awesome, 1986-1998 suck, 1998-now awesome) and before it sucked it was THE LIBERTARIAN CHOICE (no i cant cite nor do i care to). Now cause they are successfull as filling a need and supplying an evidently HUGE market demand they are Teh Eval? WTF? YES,the shoehorn developers into sandboxes but holy shit WHAT OTHER PLATFORM DOES YOUR ADVERTISING AND SALES FOR YOUR STUPID ASS PROGRAM!!!!
Seriously. They do a great job of filling a need for developers and consumers. I think ti is an awesome model. If you want competition then the other manufacturers need to look at locking some shit down. Open source is fine and whatever but the vast majority dont give a shit. Just like pure Libertarians are nice and all and they will remain irrelevant. Same principle.
Rant Defense App deactiviated
Another reason my wife won't let me get a smart phone...
For those of us with the Pre, the web browser version's OK, although it loads a little slowly. Would be nice to have a WebOS app, but I'm not holding my breath.
just buy an android already.
Piggly Weigely: I can eat my own weight in cum!
Piggly Weigely's Friend: So doesn't that mean you'll end up weighing twice as much and will just have to eat more cum again? And again? And again?
Piggly Weigely: Great, ain't it?
Groovy. Reading in Safari was a pain in the ass.
While someone's doin' computery stuff around the office, it'd be swell if they could make the site work in Firefox again?with, y'know, preview, and "reply to this" links that work, and names attached to, say, 50% of the comments.
Ayn Rand was a rusty fuckdroid.
It works in Firefox for me--at work and at home.
Works fine in my FF. 3.6.4
I'm having no Firefox trouble here, neither at home nor at work.
Works fine here too.
And yes, an Android app would be swell. I'll be picking up a Droid X when I go for a new phone.
Fuck Apple and non-removable batteries. That's coming from a Mac fanboi too.
Fuck Apple and non-removable batteries.
Whatever, grandpa.
No, really fuck Apple for "don't hold your phone that way".
What, no upgrade?
Works fine in my FF 3.6.6
Great. Now trolls can bait while driving.
Apparently, a fair number of fellas are already 'bating while driving.
Oh, Canada,
The homo's native land...
Funny that an organization that is all about "free minds and free markets" puts their first mobile app on such a tyrannically-controlled device like the iPhone
Point of order: is this a drink or not? Because it's lunchtime here, and if so, I'm in.
I say take a swig.
Yeah this is drink worthy.
"Tyrannically-controlled"? That's a bit harsh.
To tyrants, I'd say.
Yet accurate.
able was I ere I installed the Reason iPhone app.
Ppa enohpi nosear eht dellatsni ere i saw Elba.
...almost.
Kcor s'tel!
Qapla'!
A play on a palindrome followed by a Twin Peaks reference followed by what I think is Klingon. Only on Hit & Run.
The articles format for very easy reading, but the lack of even being able to read the comments, much less not being able to comment, makes it fairly useless for the commentariat.
iDon'tCare 😉
I saw this last week and got really excited, since the mobile site and Safari weren't playing together well. Then I saw that there was no access to comments (which is where the real meat of reason is) and I haven't touched it since.
I love the articles, but the comments section completes me.
The Art-P.O.G. needs his Chony fix. 🙂
Wow. People choosing a smartphone platform based on their ideology.
puts their first mobile app on such a tyrannically-controlled device like the iPhone
Wait... lemme guess. The Android is the rag tag rebel fleet, amiright?
Unless you meant there's a tiny tyrannosaur inside each iPhone. That only makes the thing even more awesome.
I got an Android device partly because it allows for more custimization and has a more free-market approach to the app store.
What's that Thomas Jefferson quote?... "Timid men prefer the calm of iPhone to the tempestuous sea of Android."... something like that.
Yeah, and they can install and delete programs from your phone without asking your permission just like those evil bastards at Ap*le.
Where is the Android app?
Market failure!
Holy sense of entitlement! Nothing's stopping you from writing your own app.
This will look better than tentacle porn on my new iPhone 4!!!
I don't know that I'd go that far...
To late. Rubbed out and relaxing. Time for a nap.
or too.
Or two.
The choice bar at the top [blog][video][article] shouldn't scroll with the posts, videos, and articles. It should remain a header.
iPhone, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch...
iPhone 4? iPad (not merely 2x)?
What about Blackberry? Where's the love?
works well now needs, no extra love.
Why do you right-wing freaks always have such poorly designed web sites? Aren't you supposed to be clever John Galt like entrepreneurs?
