Defensive Driving
Aaron Robertson was in the turning lane waiting to make a left turn in Peoria, Illinois, when a squad car drive by Peoria Park District officer Phillip Reed rear-ended him then drove off. Robertson chased Reed down and called 911. When police arrived, Reed said he'd been on a call and had his lights and sirens on. But a check with dispatch showed that wasn't true. He also said he was the one who chased down Robertson after he drove off. But he never called in a pursuit. He was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and failure to yield. He pleaded guilty and was fined $592. He later had his driver's license canceled for medical reasons. He is still employed as a part-time officer.
