I met and spoke with Jonah Goldberg onceyears ago, he isn't a jerk.

  2. henry   16 years ago

Glenn Reynolds and Jonah Goldberg--and I'm supposed to care why, exactly?

  3. Cookie Kwan   16 years ago

Love these guys, even if they are a bunch of nerds who make Star War references.

  4. Jay   16 years ago

Imagine my surprise when I opened Hit and Run this morning, and saw Nick linking to Glenn Reynolds.

A video with one warmongering torture-supporter sucking the balls of another warmongering torture-supporter.
    I'll skip this, thanks.

    1. Zeebs   16 years ago

I don't get why Nick / Reason think Glenn Reynolds is the shit. I really don't. If someone could explain it, that would be nice.

      1. Ice   16 years ago

I think they link to each others sites.

  5. Ring Jones   16 years ago

Personally, I think these tea party folks have WAY too much spare time on their hands!

I'm only watching a video with Glenn Reynolds and Jonah Goldbergs' names in the title if phrases like "The Death of" or maybe "The Extreme Mutilation of" are involved.

Isn't Jonah Goldberg the one who that liberal fascism book and was going to include Whole foods(where the CEO is a libertarian) as an example of fascism?

    1. dennis   16 years ago

That's one of the things about conservatives that piss me off royally. Libertarians have been showing that fascism had roots in both the right and the left for years, libertarians were looking into the history of the Progressive movement as a source of many of our problems for years, then these conservative johnny-come-lately fucktards like Goldberg and Beck come along and dumb down the well researched nuanced arguments of libertarian thinkers and hurt the good arguments by association.

      1. John Thacker   16 years ago

Have you read Jonah's book? It's quite well-researched and nuanced. (The title and cover, less so.) It's unfair to lump him with Beck.

  8. Citizen Nothing   16 years ago

In the video, Jonah says the debate between "small government conservatives" and "big government conservatives" is a sign of intellectual health.
I say we need some new fucking definitions. (I don't mean that literally, SugarFree.)
Goldberg is exhibit A (with his pal David Brooks exhibit B) of why I would never, ever call myself a conservative.

    1. SugarFree   16 years ago

Despite your horrible slur upon my character, I agree completely.

    2. John Thacker   16 years ago

Goldberg is exhibit A (with his pal David Brooks exhibit B) of why I would never, ever call myself a conservative.

That's an incredibly weird statement. He hardly ever agrees with Brooks, and I can think of many far worse examples.

      1. John Thacker   16 years ago

        Mark Krikorian, for example.

    3. John Thacker   16 years ago

Yes, clearly your worst enemy is someone who repeatedly has said in National Review that he wishes that the Republicans were more libertarian, as opposed to someone like Mark Krikorian.

    4. nekoxgirl   16 years ago

I kind of think that's the problem. Instead of the two political parties being divided by big government versus small government they became divided by liberal verus conservative. The Federal government was not designed to deal with social politics.

  9. Distinguished Gentleman   16 years ago

Glen Reyonlds isn't such a terrible guy, but I can't think of anyone who needs to get a haircut worse than him.

  10. Les   16 years ago

Indeed, can anyone explain why we should watch two guys who have a leftist's faith in the government (the military branch of it), who question of patriotism of people who question U.S. foreign policy, and who recently said, "If I were the Israelis, not only would I bomb Iran, but I'd do so in such a way as to create as much trouble for China, Russia, Europe and the United States as possible."

What a despicable attitude. So why the love?

    1. nekoxgirl   16 years ago

If Isreal wants to start a war with Iran, go right ahead but don't expect to US to back you up. Oh wait, nevermind. Both the Democrats and Republicans agree: What a country that is over 12 trillion dollars in debt needs is to be involved in a third frickin' war!
