U.S. may slow Iraq troop withdrawal, miss deadline if violence surges after elections.
Surprise, surprise, surprise!
But this is somehow Bush or Cheney's fault, right?
Not to defend Hopey McSamechange, but without Bush & Cheney, we wouldn't be there.
I thought of that hole in my logic right after I clicked submit.
I suppose I should have said that this specific delay is somehow Bush or Cheney's fault.
Are any Reasonoids planning to attend the Federalist Society Symposium on originalism this Fri-Sat at UPenn?
Anyone?
I am sure someone is going but they don't want to be billed;-)
Colorado man pleads guilty in terror plot on New York City subway system.
Homegrown man-made disaster maker!
I wonder how the coverage is going to differ from if it were 24 months ago?
Something like "Obama obtained the confession with dialogue techniques. This plea can be traced back to executive order xyz, signed by president Obama seconds after taking his oath . . ."
I knew it! FORSED MUSLIM CONVERSION!!@!!!
Nothing about secularist Turk coup-plotters?
(see GoogleNews; I'm busy.
Veeeeery veeeeeery busy.)
Harry Reid squeezed out a victory on a $15 billion jobs bill
THAZ NOTHIN!
I can still get martyred in prison, though, right?
Do you think the US will ever start minding its own business?

Jess, good to see you. How are the wife and kids? Listen. You know this is my turf, and I'd hate for those pictures of you waving your shiny metal wiener around at the holiday social to anonymously appear in your wife's email account. I mean really. LOL

Now that's solid LULZ right there.
* Senate passes $15 billion "jobs bill."
According to TFA, that was a cloture vote. However, it's entirely possible the thing will sail through when it hits the floor.
Grassley was on CNBC whining about something or other this morning, but I refuse to listen to anybody who fights tooth and nail for farm supports and ethanol.
Shut the fuck up, Chuck!
"I already know how to be an annoying asshole on the Internet. Any tips for helping me be more nagging and judgmental while policing my friends and relatives behavior--even their very thoughts--in the real world?"
On the first, she can lift lines from Gillespie interviews and call any suggestion of border control "racism". Hell, she can use racism for everything her relatives disagree with her on.
Borrow liberally from Chony too.
So, she's so passive-aggressive she can't respond to a direct challenge to her belief system without shutting down? Sweet. I think I know why she's single, regardless of her sexual preference.
...Because she's ugly?
It doesn't matter how ugly a chick is; somewhere, there's a guy with a fetish for that look.
There is always some guy with a fetish for crazy attitudes too. She needs some faghag tips from the other sites Sug scrapes from.
There is always some guy with a fetish
You would know! *wink*
It doesn't matter how ugly a chick is; somewhere, there's a guy with a fetish for that look who's that desperate.
It doesn't matter how ugly a chick is; somewhere, there's a guy. FIFY
With my extended family I sort of let loose, otherwise I will just stew about it for MONTHS and end up way more angry at the person than if I had simply engaged. I do have a reputation as "touchy" and "difficult" as a result though but whatever.
A charmer like you, touchy & difficult?
I suppose I would be a mere tool of the patriarchy to suggest that different conversation styles may be appropriate at a family dinner vs. a radical feminist poetry slam. Manners are so misogynist.
Standing your ground when you're out of your element
Science, could she be any less self aware?
My sister-in-law was in town this past weekend for a family event. She and her Manhattanite husband have been jerking their landlord around for *years*, living practically rent free in not just one, but *2* one bedroom apartments in the The Village. He justifies his abuse of the god awful rent control laws there by telling us what a low life dick the landlord is.
So, they lost their tenant/landlord case and she was lamenting how the landlord is demanding $625/month for rent on their primary apartment and $2250 on the one they've been squatting in and using for an office/workout room. Comparable apts in their building are going for almost $5K/month and there are million dollar row houses across the street.
She didn't understand why the wife and I were telling her to take this deal and stop trying to fuck over their landlord, and proceeded to get all pissy over it.
Sir, I respectfully request permission to slap your sister-in-law and her husband. Really hard.
WSJ Article on Farm Subsidies in India and how they are hurting not helping.
I love that all the proposed solution are more subsidies. But, but...only government can help.
Sigh.
Haha, good point I hadn't read the full article when I posted it. Usually the WSJ does a pretty good job pushing the mkt over gov't (at least compared to most news sources).
The Monday vote allows debate to proceed on the package, which has a range of tax credits and highway funds aimed at creating jobs.
Because what we need right now is to gather up all the unemployed managers, sales associates and service operators and put them to work building roads.
Ah, but you see, the money is really going to go to project management and writing environmental impact statements, and that's something that the unemployment managers and white collar workers will be great at.
Forget that -- we need a stimulus for all the unemployed telephone cleaners! The federal government has totally neglected its responsibility for preventing the spread of plague via public telephone.
I, for one, would be delighted to see a platoon of unemployed realtors wielding picks and shovels along the side of the road.
Platoon? You think to small Pb. I want to see Divisions and Corps!
Yes, Corps, ax Obama how to say that.
But can they corps a apple?
With the proper training of corps.
U.S. may slow Iraq troop withdrawal, miss deadline if violence surges after elections.
If that happens it's Bush's fault. If it works fine it's another Obama victory.
I don't Bush will get the blame. Obama may hint about what he inherited, but over a year into his term, he will not be off the hook. At this point, it's all Obama.
The people that will be promoting the Bush's fault line with be right-wingers trying to make it sound like Obama will pass the buck.
The reality Bush spoke of, and took heat for, is that troop withdraw is subject to the conditions on the ground. The violence would have to be pretty widespread and big to curb the withdraw. Otherwise, Iraq needs to handle it on their own.
The Conservative savior, Scott Brown, voted in favor of cloture, says he doesn't think the bill is perfect, but that it will "get people back to work". That was a short honeymoon, eh?

Yes, it's happened to me. Now, fortunately, I have E-Z Pass.
My first post seems to be missing. I promise it wasn't a link to anything Golden Girls related. Was it a server hiccup or was it removed?
Retrace your intertube steps and see what thread you were in.
Radley's post was originally posted twice. Someone had responded to the earlier of the two duplicate posts before it was yanked. I suspect your comment went with it.
OK. As long as I didn't cross a "this comment removed" line.
I think they let everybody but you know about those for a proper Reason chiding.
Johnny L, maybe you used your safe word and they stopped posting it.
U.S. may slow Iraq troop withdrawal, miss deadline if violence surges after elections.
You mean after Iraqi elections or after US elections.
(I kid...)
I would read that "Americans driving more" link, if I didn't hate USA Today (and their infernal annoying website) so much.
So, she's so passive-aggressive she can't respond to a direct challenge to her belief system without shutting down?
A feminist version of the Intarnet TuffGai?
Say it ain't so.
So my friend was in a car accident the other day. Someone driving a Toyota rear-ended his Mercedes. The guy tried to pull the "it's Toyota's fault, the accelerator got stuck" or whatever excuse.
But at some point the guy admitted his foot "slipped off the brake". So there's mistake #1.
Mistake #2 is awesome. Since he used the faulty Toyota excuse, the police officer who came to the scene said, so you knew your vehicle was was not working properly? You received a recall notice? And the guy said yes. The cop wrote him a ticket for the collision and for driving with faulty equipment.

They should just give a couple of sweet sweet pints of virgin"s blood to drink and he'll be fine. It's been working for him since 1476

I think you mistake Dick Cheney for Keith Richards.
You should have seen the haters come out on CNN! Holy-Moley. Must have been nearly 1000 posts in under an hour, almost all of them wishing he would die.

I thought the ITG was a result of years of patriarchal cultural conditioning about how men should be macho. Surely she's too smart to fall for the brainwashing, right?
?Six years, two months. That is when Morrison will have 30 years at GM and can retire with a full pension. He'll be 49 then.
