Whose Side Are You On, USA Today?
In an opinion piece for USA Today (i.e., this was not a slip of the tongue), John Brennan, Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, writes that "Politically motivated criticism [of Obama] and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda." ABC News' Jake Tapper has more:
Brennan writes that, "Terrorists are not 100-feet tall. Nor do they deserve the abject fear they seek to instill."
In the oped, titled "'We need no lectures': Administration disrupts terrorists' plots, takes fight to them abroad," Brennan writes that politics "should never get in the way of national security. But too many in Washington are now misrepresenting the facts to score political points, instead of coming together to keep us safe."
The administration op-ed is in response to a USA Today editorial entitled "National security team fails to inspire confidence; Officials' handling of Christmas Day attack looks like amateur hour."
Brennan provides a detailed defense of the administration's handling of failed Christmas Day bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab whom, he says, was "thoroughly interrogated and provided important information."

Yeah, but you think that's a compliment, right?
uh oh. that's how bush lost joe. or so he claimed.
joe = FAIL
Politically motivated criticism [of Obama] and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda.
Well, he's actually right about the fear-mongering. Nothing al-Qaeda could even dream of doing to us can match the amount of damage that our self-inflicted reaction to 9/11 has done.
That is right. The huge camps. The mass executions. The purges in the military and all levels of government. The climate of fear that has engulfed America. It has just been horrible.
Oh wait, that was just my imagination. In reality, we listened to a few phone calls from Pakistan, didn't read KSM his miranda rights and engaged in a couple of wars that will be forgotten within the decade.
Nevermind.
But look what is to come! We are going to put our legal system on stage for the world to see. KSM will incarcerated for life, or executed (sorry, redundant) no matter how his fair trial comes out.
Has Obama found the right soccer stadium for the show yet?
Soccer is boring. It isn't like we actually would use a soccer stadium for soccer anyway.
Better get a big one so all those cheering Palestinian KSM fans from Gaza can visit with the free airline tickets and travel money Obama gave to Hamas. Or was it Hezbollah? PLO? All of them?
'a couple of wars that will be forgotten within the decade.'
You mean the war debt will be paid off before the decade is out?
Or do you mean that we'll still be paying the war debt, we will just have forgotten that we've done so?
that we're doing so
Apparently the thousands of dead American troops and tens of thousands of dead Iraqi and Afghani civilians will be resurrected within the decade, too. It's a miracle!
Not to mention the Patriot Act, the effective repeal of Posse Comitatus, the creation of Homeland Security and the TSA, etc.
Both the inaccurate fear-mongering done by those who want us to fear the terrorists, and the inaccurate fear-mongering done by those who want us to fear those who want us to fear the terrorists.
Unfortunately, I'm a hypocrite, fear-mongering against those groups.
To be fair, Big O has done his share of fear-mongering on economic issues as well.
At the beginning of his 32-year career as a math teacher in Queens, Francisco Olivares allegedly im pregnated and married a 16-year-old girl he had met when she was a 13-year-old student at his Corona junior high, IS 61, the Post learned.
He sexually molested two 12-year-old pupils a decade later and another student four years after that, the city Department of Education charged. But none of it kept Olivares, 60, from collecting his $94,154 salary.
He hasn't set foot in a classroom in seven years since beating criminal and disciplinary charges. Chancellor Joel Klein keeps Olivares in a "rubber room," a district office where teachers accused of misconduct sit all day with nothing to do.
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/l.....z0eseQIbrX
About 160 teachers and other staff sit idly in buildings scattered around the sprawling district, waiting for allegations of misconduct to be resolved.
The housed are accused, among other things, of sexual contact with students, harassment, theft or drug possession. Nearly all are being paid. All told, they collect about $10 million in salaries per year ? even as the district is contemplating widespread layoffs of teachers because of a financial shortfall.
That's a sweet gig. I'd plant an accusation against myself the first day, buy a nice laptop and surf the net from my rubber room till retirement.
Stossel hit on that here.
Never took Stossel to be one to be banging anything under 25.
OK, I see how it is. When I fuck a kid, it's evil and wrong and I gotta run away from cops and angry parents and all those bullshit social mores that say it's "bad to fuck the teenagers". But when a NYC teacher does it, they get fat paid.
I know where I'm moving!!!!!
You can thank Bush for that, somehow.
...unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda. Terrorists are not 100-feet tall. Nor do they deserve the abject fear they seek to instill.
This just in: Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism John Brennen, in order to keep the terrorists from winning, advocates ceasing all counterterrorism efforts.
We have terrorists again. Can't these guys send out a read-ahead? I guess we have terrorist acts again now, instead of man-made disasters. Maybe that newspeak change is scheduled for after the health care summit.
And it's official - Democrats have become caricatures of Republicans. Next up, President Obama claims that private health insurance "finances terrorism" in the same way that Bush claimed pot smokers do.
I actually donate 10% of my income and earnings to the Muslim Brotherhood.
"Politically motivated criticism [of Obama] and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda."
Sounds familiar, can't imagine where I have heard something like that before.
I would like to say something to [those of you] who believe the greatest threat to America comes not from terrorists from within our country or beyond our borders, but from our own government....
[T]here have been lawbreakers among those who espouse your philosophy....
How dare you suggest that we in the freest nation on Earth live in tyranny. How dare you call yourselves patriots and heroes....
[T]here is nothing patriotic about hating your country, or pretending that you can love your country but despise your government....
Has Hillary found the moderate Talinban? How are the negotiations working out?
One of the guys that the Administration says "we can negotiate with" spent his youth at Kabul University throwing acid on the faces of women not wearing burkas.
Good luck with those negotiations. I hope it works out for Obama.
Maybe Hillary should try looking a little closer to home, like Alexandria, VA or nearby Fairfax County where the Muslim terrorists and the people who support them speak perfect English.
Delicious irony.
The terror... the terror...
Silence! I keel you!
Michael Bay just took out an option on this op-ed and is going to make a movie about 100 foot tall terrorists.
In the end we will all learn that the real enemy is the intolerance in our hearts.
GOD I HATE MY FUCKING HEART!
...and the 100 foot tall CGI terrorists.
